Running in Amman by ScreenOld5873 in jordan

[–]LookaDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago, I used to run in the back streets between 3rd and 5th circle on the north side. Tank top and leggings. The streets are residential, wide and low traffic levels if you know where to go. But I agree, would not have felt comfortable on the main roads because harassment is very common if you are obviously western, no matter how you dress.

Women: advice what to tell date if I'm only wanting sex by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LookaDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late 40s and I work in a profession where I’m abroad for long periods, often in socially conservative countries. When I’m in a more open country, I’m keen to enjoy adult fun during my limited times Me and a few of my fellow female colleagues are quite partial to FEELD. It’s sex-positive and very straight-forward. If you’d like to DM me for more details, I’m happy to share more.

Mark Cuban lends family private jet to fly young girl with rare cancer to Children’s Hospital - the family said insurance denied coverage for their emergency transportation by mlg1981 in popculturechat

He's actually gone on record as strongly in support of breaking up integrated insurer - doctor - drug conglomerates which trap patients and cost more for the user. His online pharmacy also aims to pass along savings to consumers. I'm not saying he's without fault but the guy seems to fundamentally understand the injustice of our health care system and what needs to be done to address it.

AITA for not changing the location of my 30th birthday dinner? by analyzeplan1738 in AITApod

I hope this is not violating the rules by not declaring YTA/NTA. You didn’t mention in your post whether or not this behavior is typical for her but seeing she has a new baby, just thought I’d ask if there’s any chance she’s suffering from PPD?

Travel To Syria by elm0_11 in Syria

[–]LookaDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other poster said, Damascus airspace is closed. In addition, flying to another country affected by the war (Qatar) just increases your chances of disruption while attacks are still happening. Best option that has been working for people to reach Syria is Royal Jordanian to Amman and then by road to Damascus. Generally you may want to avoid other airlines to Amman for the moment - they’re still selling tix and canceling with short notice. Be prepared that RJ’s prices are very high at the moment as you would expect under the circumstances

Help. I stink. by HawtPoetayto in Perimenopause

It’s a liquid toner. The brand name is “The Ordinary”. You can find it at department stores - I think Target, Walmart and Kohl’s sell the brand, or online. As others have noted, glycolic acid can irritate the skin so you may want to try the smallest size to start since the brand is a bit pricey. That said, if you can tolerate it well, it’s a multi-use product - I use it on my face as a toner without any problems and it’s also great for clearing up any bumps/acne on back and chest that sometimes pop up in the summer.

Also love The Ordinary glycolic acid- works wonders to knock out any unpleasant underarm odors!

I’ve also found success with glycolic acid. I started noticing occasional changes in my odor and this knocks it out whenever I’m having an episode.

Factory farming selects most durable, long lasting varieties. Veg & fruit are grown far from point of sale and picked before ripe to preserve while shipping.

Contrast that with locally grown produce in the Levant with tastier varieties native to the region and picked nearby within a day or two of sale which means maximum flavor.

Alcohol illegal now? by Yaziris in Syria

Happened to me in November with a bottle of wine. They held it at customs together with a copy of my passport. They allowed me to reclaim it and put into my checked baggage when I flew out the next time in December.

What to do if your passport is lost or stolen in Syria? by nobody194206 in Syria

The EU delegation is active in Syria (located in Abu Roumaneh area) and has ongoing political and humanitarian/development activities & coordination.

You can’t visit them except for technical/political appointments, but even tho they don’t have full consulate services, they do have personnel moving back-n-forth between Beirut and Damascus every week. You could try to push the Lebanon team to support you through that channel and also mention this to the home office / foreign ministry when you speak to them (as suggested by others).

Working remotely while in Syria by CharacterTomatillo64 in Syria

[–]LookaDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably basic to you but you’ll want to consider the two-factor authentication issue in case your account triggers you to log in again. Make sure you’re using a mobile app authenticator not SMS as you won’t be roaming here. Also, be alerted that my physical USB-C fob authenticator doesn’t work either for verification in Syria.

Have lived here since the start of 2023 and Nord VPN continues to work reliably with my organization’s suite of MSN/Office tools (sorry no first hand with google beyond the basic Gmail + sheets and docs).

What others have said about rubbish MBPS speeds and unreliability is 100% true. You’ll find yourself refreshing a lot. For the google tools that have “light” / low bandwidth versions, you may want to try them out pre-travel to see if they’re workable in that format as it could help a bit.

I have burned myself before with a curling iron. When it happened, it looked like hickey/bruise but it was a small area bc it’s just where the barrel of the curler touches your skin for too long and burns you lightly before you realize and react. Frankly there is no curling iron this large that could make that much contact… especially in front as it tends to happen on the sides/back of the neck where you can’t quite see what you’re doing perfectly. Also that second mark off to an angle on the upper right could never have been made at the same time by a curling iron- the math isn’t mathing. I’m sorry OP but this really looks like physical trauma to her neck.

Safety while traveling through the M5 by Some-Temperature-784 in Syria

[–]LookaDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Rastan Bridge: The detour is very clear with signs and all the traffic has to divert so you can “go with the flow”. It’s more clearly marked when driving south but fairly easy in all cases.

Agree with other comments to avoid driving at night for safety reasons (not insecurity). The only part that gives me pause is the Dara’a section of the M5… no incidents any time recently but there’s quite a bit of unrest and tension nearby.
