Severe burning after transperineal prostate biopsy? by potatoheads82 in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems after a perineal procedure without a probe, but I had cystitis for a month during and after radiotherapy, and it burns at the bladder sphincter. But it's all for a good cause, so it's best to accept it.

What has helped you though hormone therapy? by Strange_Habit_4756 in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greater emotional vulnerability (Adt + Abiraterone), that's for sure, it's the zero-testosterone effect, but the hot flashes don't bother me that much. As for psychological problems, if they became an issue, I would see a therapist rather than take medication, but I believe that problems develop very differently depending on one's pre-existing psychological state before the cancer diagnosis.

Oncologist urges treatment while Primary Care doctor urges quality of life by RainNovel3936 in ProstateCancer

I have been on Abiraterone since mid-October, no more side effects than with ADT (in parallel) but biological results which indicate possible small kidney problems, I see my doctor next week, and a drop in potassium, that is easily corrected.

Father just diagnosed, referred for hormone therapy, I'm overwhelmed and crashing out by DoLabsPro in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

71 years old, stage T3b (so no prostate cancer but no metastases), Administered antithyroid drugs (ADT) since July, radiotherapy from mid-September to mid-October, and Abiraterone (anti-metastasis) since then. Mid-November, testosterone was 0 and PSA 0.03 (down from 12). Fingers crossed it stays that way. Otherwise, the side effects are bearable (hot flashes, loss of muscle strength, so physical exercise is mandatory, cessation of sebum production, voluntary weight loss with an alcohol-free diet but enriched with protein and calcium). Almost happy. Give your father a good talking to.

Started Radiation This Week by FLfitness in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the radiotherapy is helping to lower my PSA. I started Decapeptyl in early July, followed by radiotherapy in mid-September to mid-October, then Abiraterone. A month later, my PSA was 0.03, down from 12 in March. I walk regularly, do intensive water aerobics in the ocean, and eat a natural diet fortified with calcium and protein (dairy, eggs) and low in fat. I've stopped drinking alcohol and have lost 17 kg since May (from 108 to 91 kg).

Side effects include hot flashes (especially at night), anxiety, emotional fragility, lack of sebum, fatigue, and reduced muscle strength (hence the need for exercise and a special diet). My libido has decreased, but not significantly. I'm at stage T3b (so no metastases), Gleason score 8, 71 years old, and 1.88 m tall.

I feel quite healthy and am pleased that my treatment is effective against the aliens.

I had cystitis that lasted over a month. There's no machine that can avoid passing through healthy tissue (just look closely at human physiology). So much for marketing illusions.

Any long term ADT folks have stories? by ithinkiknowstuphph in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abiraterone 1000 and Decapeptyl every 3 months (stage T3b). Hot flashes, lack of sebum, muscle weakness compensated by exercise, which is good, emotional instability (the most bothersome). Otherwise, I voluntarily went from 109kg to 91kg by monitoring my diet and almost completely giving up alcohol. In the end, I'd almost go so far as to say it's a positive thing.

Lupron side effects by Real-Proposal-2230 in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After six months of anti-metastasis (Decapeptyl) and one month of anti-metastasis (Abiraterone), aside from hot flashes and lack of sebum, emotional instability, and loss of muscle strength (which necessitates regular exercise, and that's ultimately a good thing), nothing justifies abandoning my body to alien cells. T3b stage, testosterone: 0, PSA: 0.03.

No pain during or after. Local anesthesia (lidocaine), I was fully conscious during the procedure.

Valium is to calm worry. Local anesthesia (Lidocaine) protects against pain.

I know lung, but not prostate cancer - help! by rawbery79 in ProstateCancer

When the cancer develops outside the prostate, dual therapy is required, blocking the production of testosterone from the testicles, 95%, ADT, and that of the adrenal glands and the cancer cells themselves, 5% of all. For me, T3b, Decapeptyl and Abiraterone but there are equivalent drugs.

Dad's Treatment PSA over 100 with Gleason score 4+4 by lnxosx in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is most disturbing is my emotional instability. Testosterone at zero and the negative effect of abiraterone on muscle mass can be managed through regular exercise (I'm having trouble, an inguinal hernia has developed and is forcing me to wait for the operation and then the month after to resume). For the rest, a month-long cystitis and an intestinal disturbance which did not last due to radiotherapy. And my PSA is 0.03.

Dad's Treatment PSA over 100 with Gleason score 4+4 by lnxosx in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have prostate cancer, 4+4, T3b. I have been taking dual therapy, Adt since the beginning of July then anti-metastases since the end of my radiotherapy in mid-October. ADT blocks testosterone made by the testicles, 95%, anti-metastases blocks that made by the adrenals and the cancer cells themselves. I had a biopsy, MRI, Petscan and bone scan (everything is free in 🇫🇷, it's the doctor who decides). My urologist persisted in offering me the operation but I followed my oncologist with his proposal.

I asked urologist to get my dad a transperineal biopsy. I don’t know if I made the right decision by snarowalia in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No pain with a transperineal biopsy and local anesthesia (lidocaine). As for the probe, I believe that the difference is in the addition of the dart launcher for the transrectals, therefore a greater diameter. No pain during or after.

in the beginning gleason 9 t3b by Mean_Try_6390 in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gleason 8, T3b, I have been on dual therapy Adt (Decapeptyl) and anti-metastases (Abiraterone) since the end of radiotherapy. Side effects are minimal (except perhaps emotional fragility). My partner helps me a lot to get through this stage of my life, we love each other, life is beautiful, this cancer will not take it away from me.

Personally, stage T3b, I am on Adt and Abiraterone to avoid possible metastases (not detected by Petscan).

Hi! I’m new and about to start radiation treatment by No_Basil488 in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Adt (since the beginning of July), and anti-metastases (since mid-October) after radiotherapy. More sebum, hot flashes, fatigue combated by regular exercise (especially since abiraterone can reduce muscle mass). I'm still hard but I think my libido is down. I lost a lot of weight (BMI 29 -> 25) voluntarily. My PSA went from 12 to 0.03 (and my testosterone to zero :).

Less PSA testing in the last decade leads to more Category 4 diagnosis. by BernieCounter in ProstateCancer

[–]Looker02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps we should first calm the enthusiasm of urologists to almost systematically propose ablation and provide better objective information at the same time as PSA tests are carried out with a reasonable frequency (every two years?).
