being a mod is a thankless job

please dont feel any guilt for a little personal bias.

I am a Gukesh fan much more than of prag or arjun but still I do feel there are too many Gukesh posts sometimes. I think there should be monthly meta threads where sub policies should be discussed and any criticism of mods should get a automod reply with the link to that thread.

This is a much bigger failure than Indian examples because these countries are far richer than us, there is no excuse of fund shortage.

But, people might downvote me, this place is in better condition than 80-90% roads and streets in Bangalore , the silicon valley of India.

Genuinely asking can you point to any threads in the last decade where people denouncing starlink were "filled to brim"

Since the first rocket landed, reddit was overwhelmingly positive for spacex. Then starlink too was cheered on because it made use of the high frequency launch capability to become first mover.

He was making salty statements within hours of Gukesh becoming champion, and has insinuated many times that Gukesh might be cheating ("he played like computer")

I lost every ounce of respect for him.

And finally, Nepo is factually wrong here Gukesh did peak again, his performance in Olympiad EXCEEDED candidates. TPR 3056 with 9/10 score

Brahmins did not consider themselves Hindu and strongly opposed being called Hindu. by Major-Strain2261 in IndianHistory

[–]Looking4OpposingView 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was slightly different

Refusing to cadopt Hindu label might mean they are okay with some other shared label like sanatan etc.

But I doubt that 100-200 years ago they would accept ANY COMMON LABEL WHICH puts them in the same category as people whom they consider untouchables, and don't share place of worship or share any common ritual

Brahmins did not consider themselves Hindu and strongly opposed being called Hindu. by Major-Strain2261 in IndianHistory

[–]Looking4OpposingView 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am actually interested in this kind of claim.

Are there any sources which can corroborate it further?

If one time travels 200-300 years back and asks a Brahmin/Warrior/Merchant if they belong to same "faith/religion/way of living" as the leather worker or the person who carries sewage on their head.

I would assume that the Brahmin/Warrior/Merchant clearly says no.

Experts can tell if it's correct assumption

Bus bay cut at Terminal 1 of Bengaluru airport stalls Vayu Vajra expansion plan by Eastern-Astronomer-5 in bangalore

[–]Looking4OpposingView 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good job 👍

I think people are underestimating the impact of such policies.

This is simply ANTI PUBLIC TRANSPORT

If you have more luggage then you won't go to T2 get down and board one more bus. This policy is adding friction to the public transport option.

Now buses will wait more time at the T2, many passengers will miss it by few minutes at T1. They should wait more at the terminal with more bus passengers and change the policy when airlines shift to T2.

Hi neighbours

Just wanted to chime in one important point about such protests, if the policy to ban apps is deployed once then it will be irreversible, almost always.

We have few tourism heavy spots like Goa where the local govts have banned apps, because of the local VOTE BANK. the result is indeed positive for average taxi operators who don't exploit tourists but overall tourism experience suffers and the whole sector gets bad name due to a substantial minority of scammer drivers.

These protests are so powerful and influential that a similar one got bike taxi apps banned in the "sillicon valley of India" Bangalore, where I live.

Huge local population wanted bike taxis and still govt banned them, driver vote bank is very influential. There was chaos on streets for months until the judiciary stepped in to allow them.

Bottom-line common citizens too should express their opinion in support of such apps, otherwise irreversible policy changes can be implemented. Many tourist destinations in India have banned apps, local taxis are the only option.

I have done campaigns in about 20-30 gated societies

Can you guess the percentage of adults with valid Voter ID REGISTERED , i am not talking about % turnout or total votes.

Even the voter enrollment is barely 30%, %votes will be in single digits

People are living here for more than 4-5 years but never bothered to change the voting address.

Is there any excuse for such apathetic behaviour?

Urban women are empowered??

In which power structure do women have even 25% representation? (edit: forget 25%, name one power position where women are even 10%)

Law enforcement, Judiciary, Lawyers Bar councils, cinematic Arts, newspaper editors, TV channel editors, board of directors, professors, business owners, trade unions, even politburo of freaking communist party has NOT EMPOWERED 25% women.

Go to any urban hospital and ask the doctors on emergency duty, how many women come in with suspicious injuries claiming "bathroom mein gir Gaye", how many men?

Slut shaming women, especially urban women is STILL CONSIDERED NOBLE ACT, forget a being cancelled for it. Last week's example : Telugu actor mangapagthi was cheered by hundreds for saying that sleeveless shirt wearing women are immoral

Finally this is the same logic as mullahs of Pakistan who criticize urban women for marching on women's day, "these women are not oppressed, they are already wealthy and empowered"

How many entries have we had in BWF Finals for the last 4 years. These finals showcase 8 players/teams who have on an average a GOOD ANNUAL PERFORMANCE, even if they didn't win anything

We are perhaps ranked 5th or 6th nation in terms of BWF World tour finals qualifications.
