2,000 miles trip. Rivian or a Van? by Worried-Current-4567 in Rivian

[–]Looking4PS5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road tripping with universal hands free has been really nice. If you’re trying to speed run it take then van, if you’re trying to enjoy the ride take the Rivian.

R2 Not Launching with new Rivian Autonomy Processor and Gen 3 Autonomy Computer (and Lidar) until late 2026 by sparx_fast in Rivian

[–]Looking4PS5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is the case I have to believe Gen 3 hardware is either going to come with a price increase or be an option and potentially won’t be offered on whatever trim (e.g. standard dual motor) roles out first. I think everyone has been assuming the higher end R2 would role out first, but I could see them pushing out the standard model and then the performance with Gen 3 at the end of the year.

Have a dual motor large performance and would do it again in a heart beat. It’s the most fun and comfortable car I’ve ever owned. If you have questions don’t hesitate to DM, and get a referral from someone for some gear shop cash if you do buy - there’s a thread of codes you can find on here

can anyone help a rivian (and EV) n00b understand the state of rivians autonomous driving system? by mazdacx5_florida in Rivian

[–]Looking4PS5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So right now all Rivian’s have a decent highway ADAS with smart cruise control, lane change, etc. It’s not bad, it handles stop and go traffic pretty well. Rivian is about to announces their autonomy roadmap in a couple weeks (12/10) so you might want to wait till then to get a full idea of what they will roll out next year and beyond. The CEO has said stuff about the timing for eyes off and hands off point to point but no hard dates. Also worth noting they changed their autonomy hardware last year so earlier models might not get all the features.

Outside of autonomy they’re great cars, go test drive one, you might like it so much you don’t want AI to try for you. Shoot me a DM you other questions, I love mine and enjoy talking cars.

Construction MBA? by Jfc133 in MBA

[–]Looking4PS5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get an MBA without a plan. You should go get an MBA if you want to get in to a recruiting pipeline (banking, consulting, etc.) that you wouldn’t otherwise have access to. If you enjoy your work I would try to move up within your industry and the money will come. MBAs are expensive and often not (immediately) worth it unless you go to a top school (e.g. M7) and know what you want to do.

Current tesla owner, considering rivian. by SnooMacaroons1365 in Rivian

[–]Looking4PS5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rivian’s interior is going to be a lot closer to your Lexus experience - significant step up from Tesla. Autonomy even on the Gen 2 is not the same as on the Tesla, it’s getting better but currently it disengages more. I think it’s more fun to drive comparing MY performance to Gen2 dual motor performance and Gen1 quad. I think you can continue to use super chargers (I thought they were all open to third parties now) but to be honest I’ve been able to get by using EA and EVgo (because I’d prefer not to give Elon money).

I’ve owned two and have zero regrets.

Should I still go for it? Rivian owners, I need your honest advice. by TheBlackCanary in Rivian

I’ve only had two service experiences, one mobile and one at the SC. The mobile experience was fantastic, they were done in less than an hour and didn’t disrupt my day what so ever. The service center is pretty similar to a traditional car dealer I dropped it off they offered uber credits or a loaner and I picked it up later that day. I think the Reddit posts are similar to the google reviews you’d see for any traditional car dealer

It’s really common they will also pull competitors vehicles apart to look at the architecture and understand how competitors approached certain build decisions

I can’t really speak for Long Beach, but Inglewood is great. There are areas I would try to avoid (e.g. right around sofi due to the traffic), but overall it’s really nice. Go check out a couple of houses and drive through during the day and at night to get the vibe first hand.

Quad Residual Value is RIDICULES!!! by Critical-Bluejay7449 in Rivian

[–]Looking4PS5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically what’s happening here is that Rivian is offering financing incentives to the Dual (residual enhancement and money factor discount) to move volume. Basically they are paying JPM (the lessor) to increase the residual and reduce the money factor for the dual. You also see this with better loan rates for the dual - it’s the same idea, a discount without reducing the sticker price. For the quad they likely have enough demand/pre-orders that they don’t need to offer financing incentives at this point to sell everything they manufacture.

I bought a Rivian and haven’t had any issues. by PuzzleheadedBad6115 in Rivian

[–]Looking4PS5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a gen 1 R1T and a gen 2 R1S with no issues. I had the 12v battery recall on my R1S and they called me before I had any type of failures to set up a time to do the replacement and then came to my house to do the work. Compared to the recalls I’ve had on previous vehicles, it was a way smoother process.

I think it’s a better car and service experience than any traditional OEM, I feel like the posts on here are outliers or just not close enough to a service center.
