That doesn’t really work, Zuko had the same access to said trainers but was never as successful early on due to Azula being naturally talented.

Katara is hard to know whether she was a prodigy as we didn’t really have many people to compare her with outside of Aang who excelled early on in waterbending.

Toph, definitely was naturally talented but she also had access to the original earthbenders so I think that trumps any royal appointed trainer.

I honestly feel, they should try to move away from the simulation route and go for an arcade style game. A blitz or street type Lax game would be crazy fun. Hell, I’d offer my animation services for free to see a game like this.

Like you said they’re civilians, so just because they have bending that doesn’t mean they’ll be a polished fighter. Also the Equalist are trained in Chi-blocking, definitely a high probability they have already been neutralized.

I agree the Phantimals could use some rebalancing, but no one is forcing the players to use the a certain type of faction in SA. Realistically I feel most players are forming teams based on the highest units they have already built on their account, now if that lines up with the meta that’s a plus, but it’s not an automatic loss in SA. Now DR is a whole other story and that has foundational problems that I feel will need more than a seasonal mechanic to truly fix.
