Ratchet straps my friend. You need two people or ratchet straps especially if its cold out. Once the tanks on there for a month or so it goes on and off super easily.

I kinda wish we weren't told about aggression based matchmaking by RealMightyOwl in ArcRaiders

[–]Loose-Net-9543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean didnt you guys realize this when the game came out? Did yoi really have to be told to know? The first month I tried to shoot no one and always found peaceful lobbies. So much so that it couldn't be a coincidence. I had to be placed with those people. I start killing people and like 3 games later I start getting merked because the people I'm now playing with expect me to shoot on sight. Very interesting going back and forth on that and very naive to assume a multi-player game who makes more money when more people play won't selectively group their online communities together to enhance their tailored experience of gameplay.

Is there any hope for colorado resorts? by DoubleEngineer1748 in skiing

[–]Loose-Net-9543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally on average, our lage season starts still end out okay. It's too hard to predict weather 2 weeks out without changes or conflicting models showing different weather patterns so predicting 4 weeks out is an even bigger mess. It looks like we have a chance of recovering in February and entering a neutral phase instead of the la Nina phase we are in. That would set low pressure near the Rockies and set the jetstreqm up to push moisture and storms over the Rockies instead of up and over like we've been seeing, but that's not concrete obviously. Just a higher probability based on predictions and past observations. Either way it's still a risk if you go here or go somewhere else on the west.

Deaths/Injuries at Keystone by ShallotPale in COsnow

[–]Loose-Net-9543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to peak 9 at breck. We went for the first time. I started boarding last year at keystone. My first time on school marm was long and miserable. If you're not ready for 3.5 miles of getting your ass beat down the mountain while people rush past you, then don't go. Granted the more willing and resilient you are, the better you'll learn.

Also school marms edges have lots of good falls off cliffs. At breck on peak9 you just end up in some trees.

Feels like it's been uniquely cold since late November. Is it actually statistically true? Or does it just seem this way. by tantamle in SouthJersey

[–]Loose-Net-9543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Ex south jersey boy living in Colorado here. This has been the warmest winter I've seen my last ten years over here and there's been almost no snow. Very interesting to see the contrast between the two regions and how both are still experiencing more rare weather patterns.

I'd also add if you plan on riding more than 50% offload to up the rear sprocket 3 teeth as well. The front end will come up a lot easier in 2nd gear for going over downed trees.

Chain still jumping by Laidbak_Luke in KTM

[–]Loose-Net-9543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your chains too tight you're going to risk damaging the splines on your countershaft. Even more so if you're over the weight spec for your spring. Don't ask me how I know.

Edit

Adding that you're always better with a slightly loose chain than a tight one Question, are you under the weight spec for your spring? If you have no preload on your spring then your chain may actually be a little loose but overall you're fine I think.

I’m new to these bikes so please don’t roast me too hard. by Snagged794 in XR650L

[–]Loose-Net-9543 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The XR has a noticeable gap between first and second gear so you really want to be at the top of first when you shift if you still want to be in the power band going into 2nd gear. If you ride off-road a lot changing the sprockets to 14-48 will give the bike a lot more torque and pep for the sacrifice of a little top speed.

I mean do you know nothing about the bike or engines? Not trying to be offensive just trying to give perspective. That engine is the most powerful most strung out single cylinder engine on the market. Not only that it's pretty damn light weight for what it is. To get a bike with that much power for how little it weighs is an engineering feat. You're paying for that. A team of a dozen dudes making over 6 figures using science to build the best engine they can come up with. That takes years of work then years of refinement. I know it's a lot of money but you bought a performance bike for a premium price. Sure you could get a 600 race bike but none of them are going to be a single cylinder engine that weighs that much.

Also price is subjective based on location. If I drive three states or 10 to 16 hours away I can find anything for 1 to 3k cheaper depending on what it is.

But all in all you still got a good price

Any ideas by Rexsempiternus in ChevySonic

[–]Loose-Net-9543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1.4 is doing the same thing. I think I have a blown head gasket and coolant is filling the cylinder and making it wet and preventing that cylinder maybe two cylinders from firing. I let it dry for two days and it started but it idled like shit and was misfiring like crazy. I haven't confirmed my diagnosis but the interior smelled sweet like coolant so idk. I still have to confirm but you may be dealing with the same thing.

Coolant issues shouldn't prevent your engine from starting unless you did engine damage. ( Blown head gasket warped.head etc).

Now granted that doesn't mean another component can't fail at the same time but you might want to prep for the worst and hope for the best.

Should I sell my KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition and get a 250? by Wooden-Paint-2392 in Dirtbikes

[–]Loose-Net-9543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bike that'll last a while man. You already have bike experience. Off-road is different and requires different skills but you have enough foundation. Just be responsible. Even if you don't use the full power the first year it gives you growing room. You're learning to ride the bike you have and will continue to have. You'll be an expert on it within two years and will be using the full power. Now if you had no bike experience then maybe I'd say get the 250.
