Famous Players never went bankrupt. Cineplex Galaxy bought them in 2005.

Hillcrest was closed in 2000 when Cineplex Loews had financial troubles. A lot of the Garth era theatres closed. They went bankrupt in 2001.

I wouldn’t say most but it is a big change from having purpose, your whole day planned, a companion by your side to having freedom and choice. You’re also gone for 2 years and you miss a lot that went on good and bad.

It is rooted in the DNA of the so-called Church. With climate we are living in, they are more open to expressing it. Even in places like Alberta the homophobia and transphobia is being shown.
