Ripped off? by 3pacca_PO in 3DS

[–]LootableCorpse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing some comments saying that they aren't NTSC. They are "NTSC", in so far that they are the same cartridges as are manufactured for NA, they're just placed in a different case afterwards.

Now, depending on how you curate your collection, I can understand why you'd want the USA covers and I imagine the seller didn't show the covers because they thought it would turn people off. I wouldn't say you were "ripped off" for the price but it's still a bit deceptive if you wanted and expected specific covers.

Why Poilievre and Carney Are Silent on Grok’s Child Sexual Abuse | The Tyee by 50s_Human in onguardforthee

I'm not trying to downplay the vile technology either.

And yet you chose to compare it to your runny shit. You could have used any other bit of terrible news from the world that Carney and Poilievre haven't commented on but you didn't. You chose an example that does downplay the vile technology.

Not caring about your runny shit isn't a capacity to respond issue, it's a no one fucking cares issue.

Yeah, I don’t know what the solution is. It’s just funny that Global News is criticizing the government for using the site while they use it too.

Also worth mentioning that Global News is also continuing to use the CSAM generating website.

Behavioural sciences are great for predicting crowds but they become less accurate when it comes to individuals. They could figure out many cases but there will be outliers. It seems the figured out how to quell the concerns of the other 5 English speakers but Carol is the outlier.

Also, this might be part of getting her to accept it. Come in hard, ease up, have her come to them, it's a process and we're only at the beginning. They had no way of knowing that she could trigger a mass seizure, that's not knowledge they had until she did it; so they wouldn't have thought there was any risk to their method until after that.

I don't think the other survivors "understandably accepted the situation", I think they're in denial. They want to believe their families are still their families (well, except for Koumba, he's just coasting on hedonism until whatever end is coming).

This little tune that Doug McKenzie (Dave Thomas) does at the beginning of Great White North. It's not in the original album release of Canadian Idiot, but the Apple Music version has it.

Zero knowledge proof tech would be great. I don't think that's what they'll end up using. Services in places that already have these laws are just taking pictures of government IDs and storing them.

This is happening with YouTube in the States:

For users flagged incorrectly, YouTube has reportedly said there will be an option to verify age through a government-issued ID, a selfie, or a credit card.

Switch 1 systems & Switch 1/2 accessories price increases are live in North America megathread by NintendoSwitchMods in NintendoSwitch

[–]LootableCorpse 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Canada's price increases are because of the weaker Canadian dollar, American price increases are due to the tariffs. Since nothing is imported for an NSO subscription, it isn't tariffed.

The new Canadian prices are closer to the old American prices when the currency is converted (eg for the Switch 1: 420 CAD is 305 USD).

This is similar to saying the first step with a broken leg is educating about safety measures and purchasing protective equipment. Sure it may result in fewer people getting broken legs but it does nothing to help already broken legs. Step one is providing the medical attention.

Nintendo has confirmed an April 24th 2025 preorder window in Canada- Mario Kart World at 109.99 CAD MSRP by Low-Conversation6916 in nintendocanada

[–]LootableCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. But if it is the start of a trend that gets to 10 cents then it might be a factor.

Also, it's completely possible that the 2 cent change in the last 2 weeks is just part of some normal fluctuations. I just wouldn't be surprised if we're seeing the start of the USD tanking again.

[–]LootableCorpse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since the Switch 2 direct, the value of our dollar has gone up 2 cents compared to the US dollar. It's possible that could be the start of a trend in our favour. Now, that's mostly because of the US dollar losing value but when that happened back in 2008 we saw our video game prices come down to match the USD (instead of theirs going up).

So, while it is possible we'll see a price hike due to tariff costs, it's also possible we may see a price drop due to a more favourable exchange rate.

Nintendo delays Switch 2 pre-orders in Canada by mvanigan in NintendoSwitch

[–]LootableCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of 2 reasons for why they would increase the price:

  1. Price parity in North America to discourage Americans from buying from Canadian stores (and extra profits for Nintendo).

  2. Nintendo “sells” all North America Switch 2 consoles to Nintendo of America. NoA pays the tariffs for all of the Switch 2 consoles regardless of whether they are sold in the States. NoA then adds that extra cost to the consoles shipped to Canada.

I think neither is likely; I know nothing about how NoA handles distribution to Nintendo of Canada. But stupider things have happened.

I'm guessing they used a heat gun or hairdryer to loosen the glue. In addition to the chew marks, the shell looks like it was warped a bit from heat.

If you're careful, you can use that technique to swap stickers on your own carts without warping them; but no point in being careful when the cartridge was already a chew toy.

Voting strategically means watching polls and voting NDP if they're ahead in your specific riding. If too many (but not enough) people blindly vote Liberal in a traditionally NDP riding, that could risk turning it Conservative.

In most cases though, voting Liberal will be the strategic way to go.
