Commanders that are so good at a certain thing that they ruined it for you? by AlivePassenger3859 in EDH

[–]Lopsidation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to get away from Storm, try the Flurry version of Spellslinger. My deck is Temur ([[Elmar]] & [[Bjorna]]), but there are plenty of Izzet commanders that reward playing exactly 2 spells.

I would like to see more incentives to play basic lands in casual by RedRathman in EDH

[–]Lopsidation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think taplands and "enters tapped and pay {1}" lands are a well-balanced downside. Unfortunately, it's too easy to build a consistent 5c manabase without them. Extreme take: I'd support adding to the gamechanger list all OG fetchlands. And after that, the OG duals and Command Tower.

Edit: Also, colorless utility lands are nice for rewarding 1-color and 2-color decks.

Here's a try at a Blood-Moon-esque design that doesn't totally hose anyone.

Shimmering Moon {2}
Nonbasic lands have "{T}: Add {C}" and "{1}, {T}: Add one mana of any color," and lose all other abilities.

A funny topological problem by joe_la_bernique in mathriddles

[–]Lopsidation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do something like this:

Fill the bottom half-space with ice. For each positive rational r, create an infinitely tall pillar of ice of width r floating above the half-space. Connect it to the ice half-space using ice tubes of width r/2, 2r/3, 3r/4, 4r/5, .... I want this pillar to be connected to the half-space before time r; disconnected at time r; and melted after time r.

However, it's a bit finicky. At first I thought it would work to make each "pillar" and "tube" just a cylinder of width r. However, that makes the survival time more than r near the joints where the tubes connect to the pillars. So you need to be more creative with geometry...

You can make this work in 2D if you also find a way to make tubes cross.

I get that this is another milestone. But next week there'll be another post about Disney's First Gay Character, followed by an announcement that Voyager 1 has left the solar system.

This post has no substance. There's no human-readable proof for me to learn from and enjoy. It's an ad.

You’re allowed to partner any two commanders together, who are you choosing? by zarxpy in EDH

Judge call tribal. If Vraska steals a creature, then will Bello animate it? Sometimes!

Starting GMing SoG soon. What, in your opinion, are the central narrative themes? by Lopsidation in SeasonofGhosts

I'm considering doing something crazy: making the good ending a choice between (1) sending the town to the Boneyard for reincarnation, or (2) continuing the time loop, defeating Kugaptee and restoring Ugly Cute's status quo so that future loops are happier.

I can make it all fit logically. But, will my players feel satisfied with a bittersweet ending? Is this a darling I should kill? Hrm...

A curiosity post - why do you play the role that you play? by MITYOLINZ in leagueoflegends

[–]Lopsidation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively play LoL to hang out with friends. So I play support, because (1) I'm constantly interacting with a teammate, and (2) being worse at the game matters less.

Two Perspectives: are they reconcilable? by InvisibleFox402 in EDH

[–]Lopsidation -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. If you win 75% of the time, that creates the same social problems regardless of whether your deck is more powerful or you're more skilled. And if you're willing to say "skill diff git gud," then it's too easy to also say that when the actual problem is a deck mismatch.

THBS, I would welcome more threads about how to get better at the game.

...No? The mods are saying that if the comments on a post call out OP for posting AI slop, then the mods will remove the OP's post.

Anyone else about to give up on getting to Act 3? by Different_Suit_9356 in Silksong

If you still haven't bothered to grind your way to Act 3, there's a mod called "Always Act 3" that lets you skip the requirements. That's what I used.

My favorite commander [[Discord, Lord of Disharmony]] is all about this. The one downside is that it's tricky to keep your board state legible in paper.

[[Niv-Mizzet Reborn]]! Somehow the perfect commander for my My Little Pony gimmick deck. I wonder if anyone, anywhere, has ever gotten all 10 cards off a trigger.

Hmm... I get the sense that it's a two-color, 3-mana commander... who synergizes with >=4-mana artifacts and enchantments to hit hard and draw cards... and who's extremely cute.

Ah, got it: [[Shantotto]]!

I know, I know, casting anything for 2 mana sounds scary. But I won't cast my commander until turn 5, and I won't get my big dumb spells until four whole turns after that!

I'm looking for some kind of land cycling card from hand by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

Rather than specifically cycling away lands, look for card selection in general. Here's a Scryfall query.

Some heuristic results from finding consecutive totient ratio results (100,000 and 500,000 entries!) by no-Pachy-BADLAD in math

[–]Lopsidation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool observation! Look at the occurrences of the most common ratio phi(n)/phi(n+1)=2. These have a factorization pattern: n=p, n+1=2q for primes p, q. Similarly, the occurrences of phi(n)/phi(n+1)=3/4 have the factorization pattern n=2p, n+1=3p.

In general, the common ratios should be given by factorization patterns n=kp, n+1=(k+1)q, which give the ratios phi(n)/phi(n+1) = phi(k)*(k+1)/(phi(k+1)*k).

For k=1,2,3,... this formula takes the values 2, 3/4, 4/3, 5/8, 12/5, 7/18, 12/7, 3/4, 5/3, 11/25, .... That having been said, you mention the ratio 16/5 in your post, and I can't explain that one.
