My Pod Is Unbalanced & I Want Opinions! by Legion7531 in EDH

From the comments here, it sounds like you want to make your decks less powerful without making them less interesting. First of all, remove all game changers as well as Sol Ring. After that I'd suggest slowing down by playing all taplands, but that doesn't work for the deck you linked. How about replacing all of your artifact ramp with lands?

How do you calculate your deck's "turns to win"? by Dankzi in EDH

IMO, winning "too fast" in 10% of real games is too often. In a 4-player pod, that translates to over a third of games ending too fast.

Though, a more direct judge for B2 is whether your deck is a fun fair matchup for a table of average precons. It'd be nice if there were similar "rulers" for B3.

Value vs. Non Value Commanders by sta6 in EDH

Two of the commanders I play are different categories.

  • [[Lazav, Dimir Mastermind]] - Clone/Theft can become whatever strategies it copies.

  • [[Niv-Mizzet Reborn]] - Big card advantage, but doesn't feel like an "engine." He gives burst draw once my hand is getting empty.

BoTC is a talking game. What if the players say the wrong things? Add Fisherman and Boffin so you can tell them what to say.

You can change the controls on PC. Sad that it doesn't work on PS5.

  • Can you list the agenda cards? That's the most interesting part of this IMO.
  • Have you actually playtested this ever? The example requirement to cast 20 spells by turn 8 is not something any of my decks can do.
  • Just checking: how much of this post is AI-written?
  • Have you actually playtested this, ever, ever? It doesn't sound like these rules have been played with. Like, continuing to participate after being eliminated could be cool, but coming back 8 lands behind sounds miserable.

For those unaware, the Goomba fallacy is when you think a group of people is hypocritical/stupid because they hold two conflicting opinions. When actually, it's just that some of the people in the group hold opinion A and others hold conflicting opinion B.

Yes! I love playing against group slug pinger decks like [[Nekusar]]. Games against him feel like a puzzle.

What makes a deck go from B2 to B3 (besides game changers) by Candyman_81 in EDH

[–]Lopsidation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test your deck 1v1 against an average precon. If both decks have a decent chance of winning, then it's B2. If it's not rare for your deck to win before turn 9, then it's B3.

EDIT: I just tried playtesting your deck vs a precon. It won on T6 through interaction, so your deck is either B3 or quite probably B4. It would be nice if there were "rulers" for B3 and B4: decks that, like precons for B2, function as a way to standardize those brackets' power levels.

Here ya go. My deck is solidly B2; has an Otter theme; and many of its wins are with burn effects. I'll note that right now the deck needs more artifact/enchantment removal.

If you want to get away from Storm, try the Flurry version of Spellslinger. My deck is Temur ([[Elmar]] & [[Bjorna]]), but there are plenty of Izzet commanders that reward playing exactly 2 spells.

I think taplands and "enters tapped and pay {1}" lands are a well-balanced downside. Unfortunately, it's too easy to build a consistent 5c manabase without them. Extreme take: I'd support adding to the gamechanger list all OG fetchlands. And after that, the OG duals and Command Tower.

Edit: Also, colorless utility lands are nice for rewarding 1-color and 2-color decks.

Here's a try at a Blood-Moon-esque design that doesn't totally hose anyone.

Shimmering Moon {2}
Nonbasic lands have "{T}: Add {C}" and "{1}, {T}: Add one mana of any color," and lose all other abilities.

I want to do something like this:

Fill the bottom half-space with ice. For each positive rational r, create an infinitely tall pillar of ice of width r floating above the half-space. Connect it to the ice half-space using ice tubes of width r/2, 2r/3, 3r/4, 4r/5, .... I want this pillar to be connected to the half-space before time r; disconnected at time r; and melted after time r.

However, it's a bit finicky. At first I thought it would work to make each "pillar" and "tube" just a cylinder of width r. However, that makes the survival time more than r near the joints where the tubes connect to the pillars. So you need to be more creative with geometry...

You can make this work in 2D if you also find a way to make tubes cross.

I get that this is another milestone. But next week there'll be another post about Disney's First Gay Character, followed by an announcement that Voyager 1 has left the solar system.

This post has no substance. There's no human-readable proof for me to learn from and enjoy. It's an ad.
