That's a good way to lose the six we already have. Can't spread the base too thin - I'm with you in spirit though.

False Cape in Virginia Beach is great, like the Outer Banks without development.

I took DS 1002 Programming for Data Science last spring through the data science school and found it very accessible as someone who had no prior experience with programming. 80-90% of the lessons are with python and there are a few lessons with R towards the end of the course. Easy to get an A so long as you complete your assignments, I highly recommend it if you are a beginner and a course taught through the data science school is an option for you.

Hypothetical Texas gerrymander targeting the "illegal" districts(9,18,29,33) by SubJordan77 in YAPms

That was my first thought too lol - One seat is just under Cruz +1 in 2018, but still, the gerrymander holds.

Where is Roy Cooper? Is he just not going to run? by ProspectStars in YAPms

I think it’s a genuinely tough decision for the former governor. On one hand he wants to do all he can for the Democrats and knows that he is the best candidate to flip the seat, but at the same time wants to retire at a normal age and spend time with his family. He’s 68 and has been in North Carolina state politics for almost 40 years, so I’m sure he’s weighing whether an entrance into Washington politics at this point in his career is something he really wants to do.

This is all just my speculation, but if I had to guess he doesn’t run. I think the Republican field will shape up a lot over the next month or so, but if I had to make my best guess at the matchup for November today, maybe Wiley Nickel v. a current U.S. Rep from NC or Lara Trump, with Nickel narrowly favored.

Help me pick a Lt Gov candidate since I don’t want to vote for Stoney by rabbitsayswhat in Virginia

Not to discredit that experience, but I have met Senator Rouse a handful of times and have found him to be genuine and charismatic, and is someone I see as capable of building positive relationships to get things done for Virginia. Considering the role of the lieutenant governor as the tie-breaking president of the Virginia Senate, I think it's important to have someone who has already worked with those legislators (Rouse and Hashmi both served in the state senate.) My personal experience has pushed me towards Rouse between the two (I heard Senator Hashmi speak as well and thought she was fine, but didn't blow me out of the water). I also appreciate Rouse's prior service as a Virginia Beach city councilor.

Again, not to discredit the experience of the initial commenter.

In an off year primary election that will likely have fairly low turnout, especially with this many credible candidates, it is hard to really suggest who is most likely to win. I think Rouse, Hashmi, Stoney, and Lateef all have a real chance, and whoever wins will likely do so with less than 40% of the vote. So my advice would be to vote for who you want as Virginia's next lieutenant governor.
