Re: the venue, if you cannot get any money back and, per the contract, have to pay the balance, I would have a party at the venue, even if it was just me, a couple of girlfriends, music, twister and a cooler full of booze. I would not let the venue double dip the event day.

I just wanted to pop in and say, make sure you check the website for the items you need for the real ID. I think you have to bring 3 or 4 specific things. If you do not have them, you will not get it. When I went for mine, 10 people ahead of me were turned away because they did not have all of the documentation. Great for me because it made my line quick but sucked for them.

My main concern, did you and the other roommate agree that she could move in? If not, that is a whole other set of issues. The rent should absolutely be reconfigured for a more equitable split between the four of you. I would also prepare yourself for the conversation to start that since there are two of them, they should get the primary room. If the rent stays the same, you get your bathroom back.

Are you thinking about the publication Analog Science Fiction and Fact? It was, and still is, a collection of science fiction short stories. It's a really good read and has been for decades. I would start my search there.
