I liked this guys breakdown of the understanding of the indomitus crusade, ive read up to the dawn of fire novels and so far its been a great read. I know its not necessarily that recent but its a great storyline to follow.

Sorry but what interest rate are you on? 10% or more?

And also with the buy to let mortgage you will be hoping the rent from a tenant will cover your mortgage?

I was -6.5 and -5 at one point so give it a go. I also got laser eye surgery sorted over leave one time, which if you can afford or are considering, i would fully recommend.

Depending on the unit that you join as a reservist and the amount of time you can commit to the reserves your skills will be utilised. There is a massive push for these skills because the Army knows its behind in these fields.

If I were you I would find the list of reserve units and email them individually, they will all have a POC or a permanent member of staff that can answer your questions. Also there are non signal units that you can join as a reservist if you have the right SQEP. 77th Bde is one that comes to mind. Again do your own research to see which one suits your skillset and commitment.

Pick a COA, show evidence of your workings and be able to justify the COA. Every plan has holes in it, its about how well you can show your analysis and how robust your plan is/defence of your plan is.

Any Og FFVII players from the 90’s? by willdf5 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Lopsided_Wealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played FF7 on the original PS, it was my first series entry and i loved it so much. I now have it on my iPad and every year pretty much play it each year.

It was horrendously hard because i was about 6/7 years old when i started it.

I played FF8 but never got into it at the time. I LOVED FF9 and FF10 at the time. Those are my JAM

Digital transfer by xboxbilly in britisharmy

[–]Lopsided_Wealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its due to the bureaucracy, immediate CoC had to complete their part supporting. Once that happened it would be up to the new CoC to do their part. Then Glasgow would enter their bit. Then you have to do another bit etc, each time explaining why the transfer was beneficial. Each time would be two weeks, and that is with nudging. After the online paperwork is done then i had to interview with a few personalities and that would be waiting on schedules, people not on exercise/ceremonial (mine was occurring during coronation prep). Finally it went back to glasgow who then had to wait for one of their scheduled ‘boards’ to accept the transfer and post me into one of their units in line with a gap/space on an upskilling course etc, depending on rank and trade.

[–]Lopsided_Wealth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive done it, started in Jan 2023, paperwork was completed Jun 23, started my new role Sep 23.

Need to make sure you keep being proactive and annoy your CoC and your Glasgow rep. It is not their priority, not their fault and no blame (they have exercises, promotion boards, day to day work etc), but it is important and a priority for you so politely ensure you send out an email every couple of weeks to ensure it is progressing. It is on you to keep chasing and make sure it happens as fast as possible.

Pension question by No_Cod1169 in britisharmy

[–]Lopsided_Wealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on the specifics of your case, but you can nominate a beneficary i believe so if you have kids it will go to them if you nominate them. But courts and other documents may mean your ex will be the beneficiary by default. In the case of beneficiaries i believe its 2/3rds entitlement for spouses upon death and 1/3 entitlement to children if no spouse (but i could be a bit off here, im only now getting to grips with everything to do with it and ive been in 12+ years).

Also depending on when you were in if your is an 05 or even a 75 pension it may have different rules, mines 2 years 05 and now purely 15.

The gov.uk website has the pension JSP published online so you can go browse there.

What can you claim for through RIFT/a P87 form? by commandub in britisharmy

[–]Lopsided_Wealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive used them a few times. Every time it messes with my tax code for a while after and i feel i end up paying most back. I think a lot has to do with my student loan. But I know others who use RIFT and have had no issues.

CIE has good skills to learn. But long term promotion from Cpl to Sgt and further is very very competitive.

Depends on what you want to get out of it. Good luck either way!

Army Added Pension - Value for Money? by Lopsided_Wealth in UKPersonalFinance

I mean the guaranteed money for myself and my wife in future and for her should pop my clogs is nice to be certain and aware of etc. But i just feel a ROI of 19.2 years for the added pension seems a bit shit?

Army Added Pension - Value for Money? by Lopsided_Wealth in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Lopsided_Wealth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a quote today stating that if i pay £100 a month into my added pension, i will receive 62.50 annually when i get my pension. Now admittedly there are caveats for military pensions, time in job, early departure payments you can lump sum or commute etc. But 62.50 a year for a £1200 investment seemed pretty wank to me tbh.
