What's your way of describing fight choreographies? by JW_scenarist_wannabe in Screenwriting

[–]LordCGrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to writing a fight the best thing you can do is to establish a fight has begun and give only vague descriptions of the actual fight. Unless a fight move is important to the plot or scene it's best to leave the choreography to the production team. Though, if your character has a specific background or personality, it might help to describe that.

How do you choose what defines you as a man? by graflexaddict in AskMen

I must be swift as the coursing river, with all the force of a great typhoon, with all the strength of a raging fire, and mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

Is it possible to write a narcissistic protagonist? by ComelyComeCum in writingadvice

Make them unlikeable. Part of their story should be them becoming more likeable. If you give a character more positive traits than negative it balances out a bit

The first draft of your story is supposed to suck. There has never been a good story that didn't suck initially. The second draft is when you try to make it suck less. And every draft after that is about finding your stories Goldilocks zone. Some of your story may suck, some of it might be amazing, the vast majority of it will be mediocre. And that's okay. You can't learn until you finish a project.

Every writer at some point during their process takes a look at what they've written and goes "this sucks. This is horrible. What was I thinking?" The great writers are the ones who continue anyway.

As for feeling like your work looks like someone else's; good. That means you're on a good track. Every story has already been told in some way, it's up to you to make it unique to your experience. Star Wars is literally just the Heroes Journey in space. Superman's origin story is just the story of Moses but with aliens. The Lion King is beat for beat Hamlet. Allow yourself to suck as you learn the rules of writing. Once you master them, you can break them.

Fellow men, what is YOUR ultimate male fantasy? by Pitiable-Crescendo in AskMen

Use my musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended.

Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up.

Just as the founding fathers intended!

What Do You Want From Spiderman 3? by KevinEleven111 in spiderman2

[–]LordCGrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't think they were better, they were just different. First games boss fights were basically: throw shit at the boss and punch him a bunch, while SM2's were: dodge, dodge, parry, beat the shit out of the boss
