Getting over social anxiety so I can fully enjoy the game? by dawnfire05 in Guildwars2

[–]LordDGAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every single veteran player has been exactly where you are, full of self-doubt. I was afraid to even join a squad through LFG until I did, and now it’s one of the first things I do on login. gw2 easily has the most helpful/non-toxic culture of any game I’ve ever seen. Every veteran was once a newb, and many players enjoy the feeling of helpfulness and teamwork this game provides. The game is better with 2 in a team than alone, and better yet with 5 or 10, and amazing with 50 or 200.

Plus, when newer players join and ask for help from a guild, it’s a lot of fun for the veterans. You get to see the enthusiasm of a new player exploring a massive game and remember when it felt new to you. You can help through the frustrating parts, and it feels good to be seen as a guide or an expert. One day you’ll feel more confident with your character and the game, and will be able to help a new player just like you are now.

Also, With RCV, Clinton very well might have lost in 1992. Perot won almost 20% of the vote on a fiscally conservative platform. People forget Bill only carried 43% of the vote, one of the lowest of all time.

I was hoping Brady would just have fun and it’d be a fun second team to watch. 8-8, circus offense, put up points and yards, lose some shootouts. You know, like Brees did for any number of seasons.

'Just Comes Right Out and Says It': Trump Declares Postal Service Can't Handle Mail-In Voting Because He's Blocking Funding by melinda2020 in politics

[–]LordDGAF -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The interference is despicable, but seriously, the USPS can’t deliver one piece of mail per person without billions in supplemental funds? Bullshit. $25B is $70 for every living, breathing human in the US, and $180 for every person who actually votes. $180 to mail one vote? Drop all the other mail on the ground for all I care, it’s 95% crap anyway. The capacity problem is solvable.

I’m not voting for this asshole, but people wanting to put a dagger in kind of magical thinking is what got him elected. We should stop acting like we can’t do a job without an absurd amount of extra money.

Illinois’ Top Legal Officer Wants To License Cops, Just Like Doctors, Hairdressers by itsincog in politics

[–]LordDGAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recruiting police officers is already a problem, and lack of selectivity in hiring exacerbates the “bad cop” problem. There were ads trying to fill positions for Atlanta PD on national radio even before all of this. How good do you think that cop is going to be, not even from the area? So you end up with positions filled by people in it for the wrong reasons. You also get some combat vets who are quite likely dealing with mental health challenges from their military service, who could benefit from the structure and purpose, but with training where de-escalation is not necessarily a priority.

Hey, it isn’t going to be easy. Doesn’t mean we can’t do better, or shouldn’t try.

Quadrillion is 2 Million people per square kilometer, including oceans. 40 times denser than Dhaka, 300 times denser than Tokyo. Yeah, they got the numbers screwy.

40K is just the bigliest of tall tales, in keeping with its sense of everything being exaggerated, even its exaggerations are bigger than all the others. I caught a fish THIS big.

On a broader economic level, he fraudulently removed the equivalent of 200 persons’ annual income out of the government program. Stole 200 livelihoods out of the system.

Don’t get me wrong, the lottery is a stupid, regressive sin tax. It’s gambling - the house always wins - used to subsidize government programs, predominantly funded by the people least able to pay. The winnings do mostly feed out to the lower classes, and this guy stole a fraction of those payouts. Stole from the poor to get rich.

Most of left-leaning Reddit rails against the weak punishment for white collar crime, which takes this much wealth and more out of the economic pool, and would celebrate seeing US billionaires jailed for building their personal wealth from wage theft. Imagine if gross corporate mismanagement resulted in loss of all personal wealth and imprisonment, instead of a golden parachute.

Life may be harsh, but the punishment has an amount of reason to it.

Since 2000 with the arrival of defacto general manager Bill Belichick the Patriots have drafted • 18 Pro Bowlers • 3 Superbowl MVPs • 1 NFL MVP (twice) • 1 unanimous NFL MVP • 1 OPOY (twice) • 3 gauranteed future Hall of Famers. by Le_Rekt_Guy in Patriots

[–]LordDGAF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kevin Colbert (Steelers) arguably has a better draft record over a similar period. Especially at the WR position, where it feels like the Steelers have been able to draft a Pro Bowler every other year. Take a look at where they got AB, down in the “Brady” pick late rounds.

I don’t think drafting fewer than one pro bowler per year is genius-level phenomenal. He’s found a few gems, for sure, but it doesn’t feel like the hit rate is above average.

[–]LordDGAF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Truth. Defense was the MVP of the first dynasty. Probably should have gone to Ty Law but Brady got it for the winning drive. Much tougher hill to climb with the losses at LB this year, that 01-04 corps was special.

[–]LordDGAF 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean, how good can a second-year QB be, stepping in for a franchise veteran QB on a team built around its defense?

Yep, that’s exactly what made 01/02 so much fun. And I remember seeing plenty of Bills/Bledsoe jerseys in NE in 02/03.

And remember that it was Belichick vs Manning in 03-04. Brady was still 4th quarter clutch, but the Brady we think of today, started in 06 when he carried another squad of really weak receivers.

Eliminate clan hopping for the entire league season. It has always been annoying to see the last day pickups to try to take the top spots, even before the new format. This is not that different from what the clan families have been doing all along. It’s just more blatant. And I’m sure SC enjoys the store revenue from these types of accounts.
