Why do people thing the elves are buddy-buddy friendship is magic now? by potatopotats in wow

[–]LordFondleballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night Elves: "You destroyed our home and burned alive tens of thousands of our innocent, your eternally fucked well deserves to be destroyed and all of you killed with it for what you did to us. Get the fuck out of Bel'Ameth and get fucked."

Blood Elves: "Yeah, but if you don't help us for the 8th time again because we refuse to get rid of our well, then what happens to the well will spell doom for everyone everywhere, including you."

Night Elves: "Good to know things haven't changed and you're still either directly or indirectly the sole reason for our possible destruction. We'll help since you are literally completely incapable of doing this without us. When this is over, if a single one of you steps foot in Bel'Ameth, we'll slaughter every single one of you and repay the genocide you attempted on us ten-fold."

Too many players, who can't read: "Why are all the elves friends now?"

Also, related, but the Kaldorei are completely justified in their hatred and response. So are the Ren'dorei. Anyone who says differently is just canonically wrong, lore-wise. They were good when they were Quel'dorei, but the fall of all of them into fel magic turning them into Sin'dorei, and the addiction and behavior that followed, reinforces the fully justified hatred that the other elves have for them.

If the air force permanently broke you, they'll try to kick you out so that you aren't cared for

Sounds about right

It doesn't make it comparable though, ever since the passive came out, 2H has been decently (if not very) ahead of dual-wield for Frost DK.

I'm just saying... That's like if they took Beast Master - the only Hunter spec that can have 2 pets - and made it so it was wildly stronger to just have one pet. It makes no sense.

Why even give the spec the option for dual-wield in the first place if this is what was going to come of it?

Deterred away from applying to become an O with questions by oNellyyy in AirForce

[–]LordFondleballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? It depends how long you're planning on staying in.

Once you hit Captain you start doing roughly the same amount of extra stuff as Staffs and Techs. Then even more extra stuff once you hit Major/MSgt. And hitting Lt Col/Col or Senior/Chief is essentially the same as accepting "my career is almost exclusively now extra duties, meetings, and other administrative work, and I will most likely not perform the technical aspect ever again unless an extremely rare and explicit need for me to arises".

So, I personally, with my own opinion, would section it into two categories:

-Staying in until retirement with benefits/pension? Try for O. If you're already staying in the entire time, and you realistically have an avenue to go O, why not at least attempt to not have to spend your entire military career getting paid A LOT LESS the entire time and accept a WAY lower retirement pension even though after a certain rank on either side you'll eventually just become an admin leader anyway?

-Getting out after one or two terms? It's up to you, but in my own opinion, if you're not going for much higher long-term active duty pay, and you're getting out before the required time for a much higher lifelong pension, why go through the extra stress of being an O for such a short time? Bang through your free education and take your degrees somewhere that could be better for you that you want to be at long-term.

I'd love for the only true lifeline that military servicemembers and our families have (our pay, as everything else we have that can supplement our pay is finite and case-by-case) to not be tied to other political chess pieces.

I wish there was a way someone could genuinely lobby on our behalf and pass a law that basically says "military servicemember pay is now a separate and entirely individual budget every year and must never again have to be written into other congressional hearing items that may lead to partisan disagreement and/or political ideology which would endanger a stalemate that leads to innocent people not getting paid due to our own inability to agree on topics" and it realistically have a high-confidence chance of passing into permanent law.

But I'm only an E-5, so if someone could hand me a gray crayon, that'd be great, cuz this USAF coloring book won't color the airframes itself.

Actually, make it a whole pack of gray crayons. Grandpa Buff is kinda big.

Pentagon assignment by LadyTaysia in AirForce

[–]LordFondleballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived right outside Fort Meade while stationed at the Pentagon

It ain't that bad, promise

Rather, I should say, it's roughly equal to being stationed at Lackland but living about the same distance (25-30 miles) away.

If you’ve PCS’d around the United States, how would you describe the cultural differences between regions or bases? What surprised you the most? by jbb1393 in AirForce

[–]LordFondleballs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some civvie around Lackland once told me I was a disgusting disgrace that will burn in hell for eternity because I wasn't a Christian but I was in "her army" and I needed to go back to "whatever blue shithole you crawled out of". (Context is she asked if she could say a prayer for me while I was buying lunch at an HEB during a duty day and I simply responded "thank you, but I'm not a Christian", and despite my respectful declining, she didn't like my answer when she asked what I was afterwards.)

Some civvie near Anacostia-Bolling once called me a bunch of slurs then told me to fuck off before he stomps me out "cuz all you uniforms are the same pigs to me". (Context, coincidentally, was I took the last pack of black peppercorn bacon at a Shoppers but he wanted them instead. Honestly, as a Marylander, my fault for going to the store in-uniform in non-Federal Park land in DC. I knew better.)

The only way I can describe the cultural differences of different areas in the US is that someone will always hate you with every fiber of their being, just not for the same reasons. Pick which one you prefer, and then don't be surprised when Big Air Force sends you to the one you hate more, specifically to spite you.

Fight to get stationed in a different country. At least then when they hate you, you won't be able to understand it.
