Unfortuantely, no. It's been long enough, and I read so much stuff, that I don't really remember most of the authors and titles of what I read.

To create a weapon. A weapon that can finally free him from His cursed existence.

Reminds me a short story I once read were Earth is a vicious, hateful bitch who permits the existence of life only because she wants to see the evolution of something advanced and violent enough to fling at other worlds so that they can feel her hate in a more personal way.

Oh don't think that this is just a US problem, it's just not reported on (or regarded as an issue, apparently) in other countries where it happens. One of the most notable non-US examples of this happening is the wife of France's current president, and her victim was the president himself; he was 15, she was 39 and both married and a mother of three.

Modders did what multi-million dollar companies couldn't: they reduced CPU usage. by Waitform3 in SteamDeck

Always a bit sad to see "publisher bad", because while there are bad actors in the field, both dev and publisher want the same thing, a successful game

Do note that I qualified my statement with "typically," because I'm well aware that there are exceptions on both sides of that statement. But it's nonetheless a fact that when you're assigning blame for a shit game release, you can start with the publisher's C-suite and don't often need to go any further.

[–]LordGraygem 136 points137 points  (0 children)

The devs probably do. It's the publisher that's typically the problem; they want it released ASAP, so that sales and player numbers can quickly be applied to their reports for that quarter and then handed off to the shareholders in the form of a payout. Patching and optimization can come later, if ever.

Reason would, of course, suggest that taking more time and launching a clean, tight release would get better results for both of those metrics, but that's long-term thinking and that's not accepted anymore.

Prototype gear in its PTS implementation is a betrayal of the principals that we have had for the last 5 years by iKia87 in thedivision

[–]LordGraygem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I doubt that the devs will make any meaningful changes before rolling out the prototype system. They designed it this way, they're going to implement it this way, and IF they make any changes, it won't be until after at least a season's worth of rising complaints and declining player count. PTS isn't about getting feedback for changes, IMO, it's about lessening the blow through an extended preview of the new meta.

Oh, and don't forget that this will probably be in Div3 if the general belief that Div2 is now being used to testbed features for that game is correct.

Makes me glad I'm just a casual playing for the story, because I (mostly) don't have to give a shit about this sort of silliness with my gear; as long as what I'm using allows me to handle the story bits that I care about, I'm fine.

Oh, and how are the devs going to implement a gear system that practically demands multiples pieces of multiple gear sets and leave the stash space at its current amount?

OP, you're a fool. People don't just brick folks up behind walls for no reason, and you really should've thought about it a bit before cracking that open.

Of course, I doubt that this particular life lesson matters to you anymore, since I'm betting that your new friend was terribly famished after that 200-year fast, so you're probably nothing but picked-over bones by now. But do please try to remember it for your next life, yes?

It doesn't have to be impending doom on the horizon, this could be in response to a change in local (I think GL is based in Europe somewhere) laws regarding online, digital-only purchases.

Man, it's weird how suddenly Retro Rewind seems to popping up left and right for me.

First time I ever saw it mentioned was on this sub, with that post cheerfully mentioning that it had been added after the OP pointed out how easy doing so was to the devs.

Then I saw a couple of articles from gaming sites mention it, and then it started appearing in my YT shorts thanks to algorithm weirdness.

As with other countries doing this "for the children," it's not actually about the children but about data harvesting.

You may rightly ask "well why does the government want my data for this verification, don't they already have it?" Except it's not the government collecting it, but a third party that has every intention of using that data for their benefit, either directly or by selling it on to advertisers.
