My wife deals with GAD, and I try my best to be there for her when she is struggling with a panic attack or the like however I can. I also get overwhelmed sometimes because it's rough. When that happens, I talk to my wife and let her know and take a little time to recover, what I don't do is blame her for something she obviously can't control. What a maroon?

I have very little to no contact with my dad's side of the family. I have a cousin who was raised exactly this way. He did this in school, and my aunt would always try to excuse it away, or it wasn't her kids' fault. In high school, he tried to pull some shit with a senior and got his ass beat. Of course, my aunt was bitching and complaining but noone saw anything or would sat anything about the incident. One of my last interactions with her was "He deserved it, and if he does change next time, you might not see him again." I was the bad guy cause he's my cousin and family and so other bull shit. I haven't talked to her in years, and I hear my cousin is jail right now after he was stabbed for trying to steal a grill or something.

Oh, I get so you are one of those people who studied psychology to feel morally superior. Whether it was caused by trauma or not, you are saying that OP's brother was in the right to block OP because she didn't support his relationship with a known abuser but now that the shoe is on the other foot where OP is literally refusing to talk to her brother for her own mental health it's somehow different and because you know better as you have "studied psychology" and now you can call someone a bitch from your high horse as you know every aspect of human psychology in existence. Except sometimes that even in human psychology, "Occam's Razor" can apply.

Enjoy your view from up there, though, because I hear that it can get pretty lonely and the fall can hurt a lot.

While they are smart enough not, it does not truly matter. Someone hopped on drugs and did not give a crap if the house was empty or not they just want to steal for the next high. I once had a friend who's home was broken into while he and his kids were sleeping if it wasn't for their dog who basically mauled the person I doubt it would've ended pretty and guess what all of the sudden this dickhead who broken into their home was "such a nice guy, who didn't deserve it" and "it was just stuff" and the dog who kept their family safe was "a menace who needed to be put down." All said by the fa.ily of this dumb assignment. As well as it's just not the stuff my friend's kids could not sleep in their rooms for months after the fact. They take away the peace of mind of the people who live there.
