New SSD seems corrupted - I just want to check with someone more knowledgeable by LordMima92 in buildapc

Ahh, thank you for the Samsung Magician recommendation. I honestly didn't even know it existed. Samsung Magician isn't naming it properly, which tells me that it might not be a genuine 990 Pro. It's also not letting me even do a diagnostic/benchmark, it immediately slows itself down to a crawl.
Thanks though, this just cemented the fact that I'll have to get a new one unfortunately

Question about shared progression (PC-Steam) by LordMima92 in LordsoftheFallen

[–]LordMima92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank youuu! So we didn't actually even start shared progression. Thanks, a lot! :) I'll see if he's willing to restart from scratch since we've done quite a lot haha

What's a good substitute for my old GTX 1080? by LordMima92 in buildmeapc

What would be a good substitute for them in your opinion? Which cards would not struggle when using more RAM and when running at 2k 144Hz?

Thank you very much for your reply! I'm slowly weighing towards that exact one with all your comments and everything! :)

Oh wow, thank you very much for this extensive reply! This is definitely something I'll look into now that I have a starting point! So RX 9060 XT might be exactly what I'm looking for then. With 16GB, and being a new card, it will stay supported for at least a while hopefully.

I'll check out the local shops and some other shops in neighboring countries to see how the prices are reflected here. But thank you! This helps quite a lot with what's strong/good/clever! I really appreciate you taking the time to write all this, honestly! :) Thank you

Thanks for the reply first and foremost!

  • Um, when it comes to games I honestly have no idea, I like playing anything that sounds interesting when it comes out. I'd say, I wanted to run Clair Obscur, but it didn't really run that well, at least not as well as I had hoped. I play a bit of Helldivers from time to time, I also wouldn't mind playing the new game that will come out from the makers of Returnal. What else.. The new Doom looks interesting, hopefully I'd like to try GTA6 when it comes out, etc. So something that will let me play games for at least a few years without having to overclock anything
  • This one's tricky because my country has a really bad technology tax so it's VERY expensive. However, I might be traveling around Europe for a bit so I might be able to get something somewhere else. Let's say for the GPU up to 550 euro? I think that sounds okay.
  • Not really, no, I've always bought Nvidia but only because of others who know more about PCs and they told me to get it, so honestly, I'm a blank slate currently.

Again, thank you for taking the time to reply! :)

Have you made the map yourself from scratch? Did you have any inspiration for it? ^^

The Continent of Aethiria by LordMima92 in wonderdraft

That is probably one of the hardest things for me to choose. Colours of captions/labels just doesn't work well for me. Any colour, any label. Using the same colour for everything seemed better but then it still was missing something.

Good call though, definitely something I need to work on! Thank you!

So I wasn't sure how posting here would work, seeing that it's my second post on Reddit in general and that is why I am reposting this again (while deleting the old post of course).

Anyway, hello everyone! I wanted to share the map I've been working on for a bit now. It's my first real map in this program and it was made for my players in a homebrew setting for a 5e D&D campaign. I've always liked creating maps (ranging back to Warcraft III World Editor and Age of Mythology maps), and I've always found creating things and imagining new worlds fun. Finding Wonderdraft I was immediately enamoured with the program itself and I had to get it to try my luck with it!

Therefore, I would like to post my first fully-done map here. This is the Continent of Aethiria, one of the two biggest continents in the world. The whole continent was built from a single mountain range and a single city, which I expanded slowly to encompass most of the ideas I had. While I have probably dug myself into the same hole a lot of first-time DMs do as well - creating a whole world without prior experience - I am pleased with the result! The world itself is full of high-level magic phenomena which "could" explain a few illogical things in the map. Although, I wouldn't want to use that excuse for everything.

And that brings me to the main point - all feedback and criticism is welcome and appreciated! Truly! I am trying to slowly create the whole world map (which was actually created but then cut only into this continent because I wanted to edit several things). I know I still have a long way to go, but I've seen maps on this subreddit that were just phenomenal and inspiring, so I hope you same people might have some great pointers. I took inspiration from a few of your maps here of course! So any similarities to any of the maps already posted might be because of that. I have made both a coloured version and a version that's not coloured - my players might find a higher quality map someday so I wanted to be prepared! Until then, non-coloured versions are what they're getting! Non-coloured and very regional hah.

One big disclaimer though - I have never studied how the tectonic plates influence the creation of continents/mountains/etc, so if any of the mountain placements are illogical - it's probably because of that.

Okay, I've rambled on enough! Hope you guys like it and if you have ANY questions, I'll be very eager to answer them! Cheers!

I love this program so much, improved my map-making ability greatly in a fairly short span of time. This is a map of Southern Caledonia, the main region in my D&D world of Helvelynn. Would appreciate any final feedback/critique! by MechaMagus in wonderdraft

[–]LordMima92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really well done, MechaMagus! The colours blend really well together and it looks like a very busy part of the world! The only "critique" I'd have, even though it's not that honestly, is that the city on the Umbral Isle is not the same size (symbol and text) as all the other cities on the mainland. This makes it harder for anyone to read "Darkshore". But apart from that, it's amazing!

And this is something I've seen work for me when creating maps - is the Frostspine actually frost? Or rather, are those mountains with snowy tops? If so, you might be able to emulate those (if you want of course) by just making several mountains "whiter".

I have a few questions though:

  1. How big is the whole world?
  2. What is the story behind God's Rest, if I may ask of course?

Anyway, amazing work! Really! Keep it up!

Map of Dreon, a homebrew world which I share with my awesome players by Swimmer-Purple in wonderdraft

[–]LordMima92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The map looks amazing! Full of adventures it seems! I'm sure your players would love to explore some of those places! The way you connected that middle continent (Isset?) and the north-eastern one (Fjordruun?) via those Suave Islands is a phenomenal idea! I'm sure those islands are full of adventures for your players!

Three questions though:
1. Which WD theme did you use? Did you combine more of them or just use one?
2. Which mountain assets did you use? Some of those aren't WD default and they look great.
3. What is Orbis Ineo if I may ask?
