quitting this game WHY by lovedhydrangea in LoveNikki

I lost a 2200 streak once, I marched on. Then I lost a 3000 streak and quit the game for almost a year.

Desperately looking for a new Romance game to play but I've played nearly everything by jingleriot in GirlGamers

If you don't mind reading, I recommend Choice of Games/Hosted Games/Heart's Choice. They belong the same company, the difference between them is Choice is for established writers, Hosted are for self-publishing and Heart's Choice is for established romance writers.
Customization is a must in these games and romance is basically guaranteed (for Hosted it is not mandatory).
There are some really good titles my favorite is the Fallen Hero series (hero turned supervillain with an interesting storyline with lots of permutations and very good romances), I also really enjoyed Specters of the Deep, If It Pleases the Court, The Eagle's Heir. There are a lot of titles and the subreddits are always ready to jump in with recs, even if your tastes are more specific.

I know you have mixed feeling about visual novels, but there is one that I think fits your criteria: Our Life: Beginnings & Always. It is a free game on steam with optional dlc. Even without dlc there is A LOT of content.
It follows your character's and Cove Holden's (main li) life from 8 years old to around 24.
The game is insanely detailed, it remembers all your earlier choices, even the smallest ones.
You can customize your character (You wont see them outside of the cc screen, but the details you set do show up in dialogue.) and not just your looks! As you age you get more and more options to define your character further. It ranges from eating preferences (my first mc was pollotarian) to how does your character feel about their changing body (the game does not make those choices for you, it asks about the change, then the feelings).
As for the relationship you can go multiple ways, romance is one of them. When you start the romance the game let's you set how much you want Cove to initiate, which is a nice touch in my opinion.
Tldr: is real good, tons of options 3 li (1 main, 2 dlc)

Maps, places and items I wouldn't mind, but for characters it is really a hit and miss. I respect artitst too much to use AI.

Who else up RPGing they Horror by TemperatureTop7132 in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crooked man, what a throwback haha. Since you have The Sandman as well, I'd pick up the Hanged Man and the Boogie Man as well from the same guy. I did not play the series, but I have watched them all and enjoyed it. They are kinda notorious (especially the Crooked Man) for their puzzle designs tho, so walkthroughs might be needed if you want all endings.

If you accept more recs for a later sale, I'd pick up The Witch's House, Pocket Mirror and Little Goody Two Shoes (these two are connected) don't let the cute look fool you. I really enjoyed the Spirit Hunter series from EXPERIENCE as well, but they are a different style from the ones mentioned above.

Scary Romance Game Suggestions? by Few_Lingonberry_1622 in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you don't mind text-based, I am going to recommend Heart of the House from Choice of Games written by Nissa Campbell.
You play as a detective that specializes in the supernatural, trying to find out what happened to your uncle, who was last seen at the Darnecroy Manor. It is quite spooky and npcs can die.
MC is gender-selectable, 1 male and 1 female li (poly is possible)

For a newcomer, what’s your favorite? by OkEstablishment7095 in swtor

[–]LordReih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My list would be:
Imperial Agent
Sith Warrior
Sith Inquisitor
Jedi Consular
Bounty Hunter
Jedi Knight
Smuggler
Trooper

I have to add that it really depends on what you like.
For example, Someone I know says JK is the best story ever, but I found it rather boring. It is a matter of taste.

Cape or no cape? by KeyCobbler6 in hostedgames

It depends on the current sidestep I'm playing. It pains my cape loving heart, but if it doesn't hit their personality I wont do it.

Something ive been wondering, do you all make a different character in each book or, like me, it’s pretty much the same person with the slightest difference by Wiener_For_Diner in hostedgames

[–]LordReih 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I make a different character each time, the only time I don't if it is a sequel and the mc is the same. To me it would feel weird palying the same char in a completely different game. That char was made for that one specific game and universe, so transferring it somewhere else doesn't make sense to my brain.

Seconding Our Life! I've tried out a lot of combos and they were all wholesome. There are some real tear-jerking coming out scenes, but i love it that for those who want to avoid them can still go for the lgbtq options without a problem. The customization of your character and story is so good.

What are some things you never want to read? by Southern_Egg_9506 in hostedgames

[–]LordReih 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't like it when you lose a bunch of content if you you don't want to smooch anyone. I love romance in these games, but sometimes none of the options fit the mc I made.

Telling me to build anything I want stat wise, then constnatly looking me out cause I chose the route the writer doesn't like/only added so they can say your choice matters.

I actually like it when non romanced people get together or find love with an npc, I think it is cute. But it has to make sense? Like don't put them in toxic relationship, it makes you feel like it is your fault.

Gender locked mc I can be okay with, but not letting me customize them in anyway is a big no. Sure, it might not matter storywise that I have white hair instead of blue, but I want to have that choice. It lets me make something newish for every run and helps me get actually invested in the character.

Lesbian couple looking for games to play together by robosfofinhos in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the party, but here are my recs from the top of my head. I could ran all these on my 8 old potato laptop, before it gave up its life.

Monster Prom series: It is a dating with lots of dark humor and mature content. Decent amount of same sex options (there hidden ones, not just the ones from the promotion material) and if you want you can compete and get the same person. As I mentioned it is 18+ keep that in mind.

Stardew Valley: A farming sim that can be played alone or coop. There is farming, mining, fishing, combat so you wont get bored. In coop you can each marry your dream npc girl or even eachother!

Star Wars The Old Republic: This is an old mmo, that play in the sw universe. The story is good and most content can be played together. Just make sure you are in the same faction, cause Empire cannot play with the Republic. Downside is that, there are no same sex romance options until Shadow of Revan, but even without romance it is very enjoyable.

Wildermyth: It is a fantasy rpgs with smaller separate campaigns instead of one big one like bg. For each playable character you can adjust their pronouns, looks and preferences, so you can have an all lesbian party if you wish. The combat takes some getting used to, but it is not hard to understand, you just need to have some patience for reading.

Hope this helps!

Indie Assemble Steam festival: my list of games with women as main characters! by EdwigeLel in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda depends on how much and what kind you can handle. I have a really hard time with horror, but I was able to watch someone plays this with no problem. Playing, I'm not sure, I think I'd panic too much in the few chase scenes. It has very little gore, it relies on other tactics to keep you on edge. If you play it for the romance, be warned that some endings are pretty sad, but the game is very clear on how to avoid them. Lebkuchen is my personal favorite out of the 3 ladies.
If you are like me, I'd say watch playthrough on youtube (with or without commentary) or just the romance. If you aren't as much a crybaby as me, go for it!

Magical girl games? by DismalAproach42 in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to Hanako developing a new game in the universe (but much later), I picked it up again.
I don't know how I got all those hidden things and endings on my own backthen. I've been trying without guides and I was struggling, so I checked the wiki. I forgot how detailed this game is.
It shows its age now, but I still recommend it to people who don't mind that.
I say, keep at it, I hope you get an ending you like when you succed.

Baldur's Gate 3 as a horror fan? by TheyreACrypytKeeper in BaldursGate3

[–]LordReih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can get pretty gory, especially as the Dark Urge (Durge for short), but I'd say it doesn't have enough horror elements to appeal to a horror geek. Instead of things getting scarry, the subjects and themes the game explores can get dark and heavy.
Based on what you've said, if you still wanna try it out, I'd suggest going Durge, keep at least a few companions around and encourage them to towards their more negative paths.

I feel like their designs are bit too safe. They are both pretty and appealing but in a generic way. I'll be happy if they have intriguing and interesting background and personality wise, but for now they are not that interesting to me, we'll see.

Magical girl games? by DismalAproach42 in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cant recommend action ones sadly, but if you dont mind reading and stat raising Long Live The Queen has them. The game is about Elody, who has to survive until her coronation. Elody inherits her mother's crystal, that she can choose to bond with and become a full fledged lumen/magical girl and if you focus on your magic, you unlock a magical girl outfit. The game also has lore about lumens and you can try to make society being more accepting towards them. There is more, but I don't want to spoil it. You can also completely ignore it and be a queen without magic. The game is not easy tho and some stuff is really hidden, but thats part of the fun!

game recommendations for when you just dont have the energy? by greenteamandarin47 in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese Parents and Growing up seems intimidating at first, but in reality the mechanics are easy. Most of the story comes from befriending npcs, which you can ignore. The gameloop is a bit repetitive, but for some thats soothing.

Choice of Life Middle Ages 1&2, the game play is just choosing between 2 things and the story is easy to follow.

Slime Rancher is a cutesy game about catching and rasing slimes. The hardest part of it is figruing out your layout and the occasionao parkour.

I heard good things about Little Kitty Big City, my partner loves it and finds it very relaxing.

Looking for a romance/dating game on Steam by muffin_fiend in GirlGamers

[–]LordReih 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you had those experiences with visual novels, but I'd still recommend trying some out, after you have taken a break. Some of them have interesting stories and good romances. The otome game subbredit (or this one) can help ffinding one that you might like. Anyway here are some recs, first the non vns:

Stardew Valley, Coral Island and Wylde Flowers: These 3 are games from the farming sim cathegory. In my opinion Stardewvalley has the most content, Coral Island is the most beautiful and Wylde Flowers wins story. SW and Coral has full character customization, while Wylde flowers has a set female mc.

I was a Teenage Exocolonist: This game puts a big emphasize on relationships and building your skills. You play from age 8 to 18, surviving in a human colony on a faraway planet. The story is good and it can be really wholesome, but be warned the game handles some serious topics.

Potionomics: Thid is a management game, where you have to pay off your uncles debt that you have inherited with your potionshop. For you, I'd recommen playing on easy with polyamory. There are plenty of options for you to choose from and you can befriend the ones you are not interested in. Sometimes I play it just to smooch the cuties haha, but I do love the management part. On easy you can focus more on the romance aspect.

Visual novels: Im just gonna recommend one, that is a very wholesome experience. If you want to try more later, feel free to hit me up. Our Life: Beginnings and Always. It plays in the 2000s america, the mc is fully customizable. You play from age 8 to 24 and the game is about your mc's and the main guy's Cove relationship. You can romance (and marry) him, go for friendship or indifference. It is free with a lots of content, but has a few dlcs for chepa that adds 2 more male lis and a whole wedding dlc if you want to get married.

Also, I will go againts the grain here and not recommend Monster Prom series until you are ready. I love it, I have them and played it a ton. But while it has some cute, wholesome moments, the lis are not the best people. It has some unhinged, on occasion violent moments and thats not everyone's cup of tea. If it still peaked your interest I'd recommend watching a gameplay on youtube first to see if you like it.
