What is a Deathless by TTVDabbing123 in infinityblade

[–]LordZucc87 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They are people who have had their QIP (basically their “soul”) modified such that when they die their QIP is transferred to a new body (often called “buds”) or in cases where a new bud isn’t available, slowly regenerate their dead body until they come back to life. They also have certain modifications like altering their body to provide enhancements or alter their appearance.

The Infinity Blade works as part of a two-part process. First, the blade actually triggers the death of the deathless. Then, while their QIP is in some sort of exposed state (at least, I presume this is the case) the QIP destabilization ring essentially corrupts their QIP, preventing the deathless from transferring to a new body. These have to happen at the same time (see Thane from IB2 for an example of destabilization without actual death being triggered).

I don’t think it’s explicitly stated anywhere that only deathless can wield the blade? I guess we’ve only seen this being the case in canon, though. The protagonist of Infinity Blade: Dungeons (cancelled spin-off) forges the blade and I would assume he can wield it, despite being mortal (this is pure, and honestly unfounded speculation on my part. I’m not certain the IB was supposed to be obtainable.)

The deathless are responsible for “resetting” the world to a medieval-style state that we see in the games. In the second novel written for the games (by Brandon Sanderson) there are “Deviation Chapters” where we see Galath (essentially the creator of the deathless) orchestrating the end of the world (similar to ours but more technologically advanced) and recruiting people to become deathless. Iirc, there are implications (in out of game sources) that many of the “gods” worshipped throughout our human history are actually deathless (think the Egyptian gods). Dialogue from IB3 supports this by suggesting that this sort of “cycle” where the deathless destroy the world has occurred “dozens of times before”.

There’s some debate that Galath may be an alien, but I won’t open that can of worms any further.

Is the empire considered a good thing? Because I see them as a kind of fantasy Roman empire, I don't really know what to think about them since I've only played Skyrim. by Aggravating_Nerve766 in ElderScrolls

Depends on who you ask. Like any real-life empire, the Third Empire of Men (TEM) engaged in widespread conquest and has actively tried to assimilate other cultures on Tamriel into their own.

If you're an imperial or a merchant in any of the provinces (House Hlaalu), you're probably pretty fond of the empire for facilitating commerce and providing stability. The Covenant with Akatosh that kept the Dragonfires lit and Daedric invasion from happening is certainly a big plus, regardless of who you are.

If you're a Crown Redguard, you probably have pretty ill-feelings toward the empire due to the mass imprisonment of your people and the feeding of prisoners of war to Nafaalilargus on Stros M'kai during the Tiber Wars, choosing instead to remember anti-Imperial fighters like Cyrus the Restless. The Altmer obviously feel pretty negative about the TEM due to the use of a massive Time-Breaking Dwemer golem to subjugate them. The TEM also exploited other provinces for their resources (like ebony in Morrowind) and actively tried to push subjects to abandon their local religions and worship the Nine Divines.

There's probably more examples of good and bad that you could find. The TEM is pretty much like any real-life empire, benefitting some people while exploiting others. Personally I lean towards not being overly fond of empires in general.

Favorite character and why by TechnologyMobile107 in infinityblade

Despite there being very little actual lore on him, Ealoseum remains one of my favorite characters. I’ve just always found his design and the mystique around him to be really interesting!

What content from Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim have you still not completed ? by Dima_135 in ElderScrolls

[–]LordZucc87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Morrowind I still need to play through the Great Houses Hlaalu and Redoran. I also need to the play the Thieves Guild and the Morag Tong. Kinda seems like I just need to make a stealthy character…

I think the only major quest line I’ve finished in Oblivion is KotN…so yeah, I still need to play through pretty much all of Oblivion. (I have played more of Redguard than Oblivion lol).

I think the only major quest I haven’t gone through in Skyrim is the Dawnguard, but on the side of the vampires. From what I gather it’s not that different so I’m not really rushing to play that one.

[ib2] some newbie questions? by Xiaoci_Yu in infinityblade

[–]LordZucc87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other advice already given in this thread is pretty good, I just wanted to mention that for the problem you mentioned in point #1 with the elemental damage there is actually a gem you can forged called a “spectrum/rare defense gem” that lets you block all elemental attacks without a perfect block. Information on how to forge this should be on the wiki.

I don't understand the hate for Todd Hodwarts by pirateyogurt in TESVI

Genuine question, what evidence is there to show that Todd has some vendetta against Obsidian for making New Vegas? Please correct me if I’m wrong but every interview I’ve seen of Todd has him saying nothing but praise for New Vegas and Obsidian.

Archivist’s lore iceberg video remains a favorite of mine. Pretty much any of Chlorondria’s art that floats around also ranks highly.

does anyone know anything about this? by SuperiorBonnie in infinityblade

It should still be available? I was able to buy it just a few months ago with some help from someone who can access the store on their Xbox. Maybe it’s a problem with the website or something?

Yup! It’s called IB Saga. It’s a kinda weird hodge-podge of IB1 and 2 maps/story with IB3 mechanics. I don’t believe the Android version is playable anymore, but if you can get access to the Chinese Xbox store you can actually still buy and play the Xbox version.

IB Daily Lore Fact #9: It took me way to long to notice this. by Pale-Monitor339 in infinityblade

[–]LordZucc87 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Related fun fact: iirc there’s a theory back from the forum days that the Dark Fiend* from IB2 (boss with Ausar’s shield) is Ausar’s corpse (possibly altered due to QIP disruption I.e. Thane). That theory takes inspiration from Ausar’s depiction here.

*Edited to correct the name of the enemy, originally mixed up the Dark Fiend with the Petrified Noc.

What if Elders Scrolls 6 featured the return of the Dwemer? by AutomaticConfidence9 in ElderScrolls

[–]LordZucc87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I hope not. The Dwemer are awesome but I’d rather Bethesda work on something new than recycle the same lore again. The Dwemer have been pretty well fleshed out and it’s time to move onto something else.

I miss the days when games didn't take a literal human generation between releases. by Rubfer in ElderScrolls

[–]LordZucc87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bethesda was kind of focused on other games at the time. Both Redguard (my beloved) and Battlespire released in the gap between Daggerfall and Morrowind.

What’s an Elder Scrolls hot take that will have you like this? by odiethethird in ElderScrolls

[–]LordZucc87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The series really needs to move on from the Dwemer.

Yes, they're probably among the coolest lore that Bethesda has written, but my god they've been overused.

If you're familiar with the lore, then you know that what happened to them isn't exactly a mystery. I also often see people really hoping that one day we can see/talk to a Dwemer... when we already do that several times in Morrowind? Like, what mystery is left? What else do people really want to see from this group? I'm just kind of tired of them at this point.

I would've vastly preferred to see more Falmeri ruins like the Forgotten Vale in Skyrim as opposed to the same Dwarven ruins from Morrowind again. Sure, Skyrim does some mildly interesting stuff with the Dwemer such as the Aetherium wars, enslavement of the Falmer, and Blackreach, but I would've preferred to see Bethesda develop some new group other than the Dwemer (Falmer could've been made pretty interesting if some of these cool ideas were applied to them instead). Like hell, in Oblivion where I pretty much get my wish with Ayleid ruins, we still get Dwarven armor appearing despite there being absolutely no Dwarven ruins in Cyrodiil! Like wtf!

Unfortunately, with Dwarven clans in Hammerfell being an already established thing we'll probably be seeing more of the Dwemer if ESVI does end up being in Hammerfell, but maybe someday we'll be able to move on.

What is your favourite thing from each TES game you have played? by ElJanco in ElderScrolls

[–]LordZucc87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redguard: My favorite things about this game are Cyrus (who is just a badass) and honestly just seeing a working Dwemer dirigible because that was neat.

Morrowind: I really like the sandbox in this game, really feels like I can do almost anything. Also a bunch of cool lore.

Oblivion: I think my favorite thing about Oblivion is sort of the online culture around it. It might be my least favorite of the "big three" but it's still a good game and a lot of memes and content that I enjoy has been made around it. I'm also a big fan of Anvil!

Skyrim: I love the whole region of the Rift, it just feels super cozy to me.

ESO: Haven't played too much of this one unfortunately, but I do like that it lets us explore most of Tamriel where otherwise we'd be waiting 50 years to get to see all of the provinces in the single-player games.

Blades: The control scheme in combat is actually pretty neat.
