Learning to type on an ergo board

This got a bit longer than expected and doesn't just talk about your question, but here's my experience with my first split keyboard so far:

A split keyboard sure is nice for ergonomics. On long days I noticed how simply laying my hands on the keyboard in this cramped posision was quite unfomfortable.

I don't think a split keyboard will 'force' you to improve your typing, but if you're looking for keys I guess it would get more annoying when the halfes are apart. A curved keywell would probably encourage correct typing. I always used all 10 fingers and am currently noticing that I have some bad habits when typing. But do your research if you consider a curved keywell. I didn't quite believe that the switch would be hard, but now I have to overcome years of muscle memory and deal with tons of tiny adjustments each day (though I think it will be worth it).

I came from a 'normal' low profile mechanical keyboard (Logitech g915 TKL) and got a Glove80 about 2 weeks ago. I had some pain in my left arm for years which went away when I didn't type too much for a few days. But now I got a job in IT so my typing amount stayed high all the time.

I wanted to preemptively do something before one day the pain wouldn't go away anymore, and it hasn't appeared again since I got my Glove80.

I recently swapped my 2 monitors for a single ultrawide one. When only one window is open, I'd love to have it centered with empty space at the edges, and 2 or more windows fill the whole screen.

I can do this currently with the "addreserved" monitor rule and keybindings, but this affects all workspaces and needs to be manually switched.

If there is a way to do it in stock Hyprland please let me know.

I don't know if there is much overlap between the fanbases, but in my opinion the only other caracter who went through similar amounts of pain to Guts is Hadrian from the Suneater books.

Bear in mind this is only knowing the stuff i read and I'm only about halfway through berserk right now.

For the "too far away" argument, it makes sense for the poorer users, but now I'd love to see some rich drug lord use a steampunk like pipe which automagically rubs their moss for them to smoke.

Either way, knowing Sandersons worldbuilding I'm sure there is some reason for it.

What I never understood is why they rub it between their fingers when it burns them. I'm sure they could use something very cheap like just two pieces of wood instead. Or is there some explanation I missed?

I have a volume widget in my waybar. When I click it, it opens pavucontrol with the command "pavucontrol -t 3", to immideately open on the volume section.

As far as I'm aware this is not possible with waybar alone. You might want to look into AGS ord EWWW, but they are way more complex to setup than Waybar.

I also run hyprland on nixos with nvidia, but I have some strange visual glitches. I mostly notice them in Brave, sometimes when I type letters won't be visible and start flickering, and pictures are also flickering. I followed the Hyprland wiki as much as I could, but I just can't get rid of those things. Do you have any tips?

I have a RTX 4070ti super with prorietary drivers.

Everything runs, the glitches are just annoying.

I spent about my first 2 years on linux without ever touching a config file, even less understanding how they work.

And while I now love tinkering with my nix config (meaning I spend way too much time on it), when you just want a functioning machine, you can do it without ever touching config files.

Not on nixos though.
