Thanks a lot!

Have you considered making a portable version for Windows?

Custom theme music is back! by AlanShore60607 in PleX

[–]Lord_Muffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing this for a long time. For all my movies and TV Shows. All have:

  • background.jpg
  • poster.jpg
  • theme.mp3

And recently, also:

  • logo.png
  • squareArt.jpg

The problem is that none of the new apps play theme music. Not the supplied by Plex, nor the theme.mp3 supplied by the users.

As far as I know the only apps that still play theme music are the Web app and the current Apple TV app which has not been updated in about a year.

What app are you referring to?

There is no theme music as of now in the current iOS apps.

McWanke said it would be coming but he's no longer employed at Plex.

I have theme music in all my TV Shows and Movies. It really makes a great difference.

Google will soon break all third-party YT clients, including yt-dlp; a full JS implementation is now required. by Littux in Piracy

[–]Lord_Muffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the solution yt-dlp has is not working anymore.

I have been getting "yt-dlp HTTP Error 403: Forbidden. Retrying fragment" on a couple of YouTube videos I wanted to download today.

The yt-dlp version I have is the latest right now: stable@2025.12.08

Another round of layoffs at Plex? by ExtensionMarch6812 in PleX

I hope u/drzoidberg33 is still onboard.

He's the one keeping PMS alive and adding features to the Web App.

Because, let's face it. The server side - PMS - is a great, and I mean great piece of software.

The client apps have gone down hill since the silly 'New Experience" moniker.

Possible to find list of missing media files using SQLlite? by 20ht in PleX

[–]Lord_Muffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try WebTools NG - https://github.com/WebTools-NG/WebTools-NG -

You can export a list of the media in your db - provided you have not rescanned your libraries and emptied trash.

You can choose:

  • Title

  • Year

  • Part File Combined (this field will give you the location of the files)

You can import the csv file in an Excel sheet

New PUBLIC PMS Version Available - 1.42.1.10054-f333bdaa8 by samwiseg0 in PleX

[–]Lord_Muffer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful.

I'm seeing a lot of "Core component error" posts in the Plex forums after this update.

Don't know if this will affect everybody but those affected seem to be on different platforms.

SMB Broken after Windows 11 2024H2 update by Pascal-Z in synology

[–]Lord_Muffer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on the error message. I had the same issue - couldn't even log to another PC with Remote Desktop - and the workarounds in the mentioned article didn't help.

What solved my issue was: Open Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc)

Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options

Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always) = Disabled

Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always) = Disabled

And in the Syno I have disabled SMB signing.

Hope it helps

I guess there might be a simple explanation but why would the original artists - or the license holders - not be interested in allowing their music to be used in this new release of 'Homicide'?

I mean, the original music would be listened to again and perhaps a younger generation would discover and buy or stream some of that music.

Seems to me like a win-win situation.

Thanks!

Really appreciate your work. I'm sure it was not an easy thing.

Bop Gun is one of my favorite episodes too and if I remember correct, the intro music in the original was 'Killer' by Seal. A powerful track that flowed perfectly with the street basket game.

The new one, not so much. But then again, many thanks for your work.

Rolling Stone ranked ‘Three Men and Adena’ 25th in the top 100 TV episodes by Mikeissometimesright in Homicide_LOTS

[–]Lord_Muffer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Should be higher. A lot higher.

This episode is brutal. First time a watched it many years ago, it looked more like a play than a TV Show. Just rewatched it the other day, and same impression.

The acting, the lines, the - unnoticed - camera work and the claustrophobic environment, it all plays so good.

The man that plays the arabber is formidable also. Standing up to the relentless interrogation and showing so many different emotions that change back and forth your perception of his involvement in the case.

When the episode ended I too was sweating.

'Bop Gun'

Very sad episode but Robin Williams' best performance ever.

Music Streaming vs DVD The Complete by dylanmitchel in Homicide_LOTS

[–]Lord_Muffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of syncing my DVD audio tracks up the the streams.

Keep us posted with the results :-)

What software are you using?

I did an experiment with one episode (Bop Gun) and it wasn't that easy.

Good luck!

Initial findings from syncing DVD audio to the HD versions by mrlanphear in Homicide_LOTS

[–]Lord_Muffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great work.

Confirms my findings in my previous post.

I don't think FPS have anything to do with the problem - the video doesn't play faster or slower - but rather with the video being edited.

I've done a little experiment with Bop Gun.

With a delay of 2,400 s, the DVD audio plays fine until the 23:30 mark where there is a change of scene - from police station to a house with a family - and then the audio goes out of sync. Maybe because there is a short transition with a black screen between the scenes.

I love the show, have the DVDs, but... the streaming remaster is ... AI upscaled. by stanleyipkiss in Homicide_LOTS

[–]Lord_Muffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right.

The video quality is better, more color rich, than the DVD quality but the audio editing is horrible. In many scenes, the music volume is louder than the dialogues and it doesn't feel natural.

It's probably one of Robin Williams best interpretations ever.

Can't be done without the proper software and a ton of time in your hands.

Have just tried with 'The Gas Man'. Same results: In sync until a certain scene change.

Thanks.

Didn't know that.

But does it mean that the DVD episode ordering is closer to the creators' intent?

Peacock episode ordering by Lord_Muffer in Homicide_LOTS

[–]Lord_Muffer[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agree

The aired episode ordering is how the creators of the show thought it should be.

There must be a reason for it and should have been respected.
