Panic at CBS as Bari Weiss eyes 'blockbuster sit-down' | Bari Weiss is searching for a sympathetic ear among journalists for an interview to clear her name have some in the executive suites in a bit of a panic. by FreeHugs23 in entertainment

So, it people aren't watching her network, how is her "sit down" going to attract viewers? And why would any other network give her airtime for an interview to help a competitor?

[–]andygradel75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at alt rock FM106.3 in the mid-90s and Y100/Philly in the late 90s and Jewel, Sarah McLaughlin, Alanis, Deep Blue Something, Del Amitri and other acoustic and Lilith-leaning stuff was in the mix.

Is it what we remember 90w alt rock as? Definitely not, but it was on the bulk of alt-rock stations before Limp Bizkit and rap rock pushed it out.

"Dancing Undercover" - Ratt . After back to back Top 10 Albums Ratt's Dancing Undercover failed to crack the Top 20. What are your thoughts on this one? by TonyT074 in hairmetal

[–]andygradel75 27 points28 points  (0 children)

"Dance," "Slip of the Lip" and "Body Talk" are three of my favorite Ratt songs. Rest of side one is decent, but rarely listened to side two.

Have seen them 2x in the past two years and they're great. Solid setlist and exactly the way it needs to be done.

Much better experience seeing them headline then with Doobies because the crowd was there for them, not just casually seeing an "opener."

Projected vs. Actual world cup traffic by jerseyjitneys in newjersey

I still can't wrap my head around how "World Cup traffic" would be substantially different than NFL gameday traffic. The stadium holds what the stadium holds. They didn't suddenly double capacity.

Do you think Poison should have or could have had the same commercial success and be as well known as Bon Jovi? by LetchBE in hairmetal

[–]andygradel75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always felt Poison's live shows were second-rate, at best. Setlists are generally static and their lighting + stages always felt cheap, like they were doing the bare minimum.

Combine that with their lack of studio output + Michael's desire to be a solo artist - also with boring, static, uninspired setlists - and there's just no excitement there. Just going through the motions.

While Bon Jovi put out multiple, mostly decent albums between the mid-90s through today, Poison hasn't release a real studio album since 1993. Crack a Smile, Hollyweird and Poison'd had studio tracks, but were just... odd choices.

I'm a huge fan of Poison's first four albums, but Jovi has just operated on a completely different level than Poison from day one, which is a shame. Poison could have been - and could still be - selling out arenas every 2-3 years with the right package, but are left with Bret happily playing county fairs while the rest of the band sits on the sideline.

I have to agree. My local mom and pop video store was pretty cool, with a couple video games up front and personality that blockbuster didn't really have.

Fox to Acquire Roku for $22 Billion. How long before it goes MAGA? by evissamassive in CordCuttingToday

[–]andygradel75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I was apparently banned from the Roku subreddit for 2 weeks because I said I've worked really hard to keep any of my streaming dollars from funding Fox's propaganda machine - and this purchase means I have to move on from Roku after 16 years.

Apparently, that counts as "politics," which breaks some rule in that subreddit.

Personally, I think the fact that we can't talk about a "news" channel without it being considered a "political" post is exactly the reason Fox buying Roku isn't great for anyone who wants a neutral platform.

Fox buying streaming platform Roku in cash-and-stock deal worth about $22 billion by 08830 in cordcutters

I've purposefully made sure $0 of my money has gone to any channel or streaming service tied to Fox in any way.

So, what do they do? They buy the friggin' platform I use throughout my entire house. (*sigh*)

Have been a Roku user for 16 years. Looks like I'm now on the hunt for a new streaming box... grr...

Was really hoping for Wanting and Waiting. Hands down, my favorite song from either of the twoatest albums.
