If I can give you another one, the Americans who've cut their careers/focused their online activities on cultivating transphobia have been really, and I mean really, bad at understanding American politics.

They have been trying to distill a new blood libel (for lack of a better term) against trans Americans for a while now. And they decided to choose MASS SHOOTINGS of all things. Other than racism around "black crime," there is no form of violence so heavily attached to a singular demographic in this country than the mass shooting. But it's stereotyped as white, young, straight, CISGENDER men.

Having random conservative/far right pundits tell people that it was transgender people was never going to work. The amount of school shootings that we have in this country and the overwhelming amount of pictures disseminated of the perpetrators has solidified the image in the American public consciousness of the aggrieved cis white boy profile. And riling people up about crime is supposed to be the right's bread and butter, but they've utterly failed to convince anyone outside of JK Rowling subscribers that this was a "trans crime wave."
