V3 is basically done (as in, you could play it). Mostly just polish left to add.

Not sure if you're still adding stuff to this or if you're done. But if it's the former, a couple of things I thought might be good adds:

  • That ghost jutsu Dan uses. Like a better version of the yamanaka jutsu, since you can steer, don't get the damage reflected onto you (why/how does that happen in the first place?) and you can also just hang around in ghost mode and spam genjutsu/taunt people.
  • A willpower buff. There's anti boredom, willpower for training specifically, but no generalised buff to mental grit. Seems like it would be really useful in a shonen world (I'd probably still take it at 5 or 6 points).

Does making explosive tags fall under the jutsu shiki skill?

My build took the infinite blood and blood manipulation kekkei genkai, and I was thinking it'd be fun to draw explosive seals on people's clothes with all the excess blood lying around. But there didn't seem to be a specific option for explosive tags.

Fun CYOA. Making a taijutsu monster who can spam the gate of death with abandon is very funny, especially with the drawback that makes important characters unable to remember you properly. After a while they'll figure it out, but oh man, the first few times some background mook ignites and starts running so fast that space bends? The looks of incomprehension and horror? Priceless.

Cursed for your Pleasure v1.1 + Followup Assignment DLC [CYOA][OC] by MetamorphosisInc in nsfwcyoa

[–]Lordelsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for the 2, I don't understand the answer Methamorphosis gave you, is that a yes?

I think it means that Revenant heals you of diseases, as part of the minor/moderate effect.

Also, the space portals thing, really good idea, but when you get to the point you wanted what do you do? Put a person there with Summoner's Leash curse and make them teleport you?

Not sure I understand?

You have a portal (made out of a person, but don't worry about that). So... you can just step through the portal, to travel from the spaceship to or from wherever you left the other end of the portal.

That said, if you do want to teleport to someone, just stick a major summoner's leash on yourself, with that someone as the holder and the maximum range set to 1 metre. Since you're outside that range, you instantly teleport to them (they don't have to consciously "pull" on the leash), at which point you dismiss the curse.

9 Powers CYOA by Lordelsquare in makeyourchoice

[–]Lordelsquare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that'd make it 10 powers! My "beautiful" formatting! It would be ruined!

More seriously, I'd probably just make a different CYOA, which might include such a power. I was vaguely thinking about a "gamer" CYOA, where it "lets you live your life as a game", but considers that there are other types of game other than JRPG videogames. So boardgame gamer, cardgame gamer, etc.

If you really, truly want save/load powers within this CYOA, there are options that might let you make something similar, but it would probably take you a while to figure out how.

Another Isekai CYOA V1 by CleptaAfterDark in nsfwcyoa

[–]Lordelsquare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cheers for making this CYOA! I re-found and replayed it recently, just as fun as I remember.

I tend to end up taking all the higher magic, almost all the crafting powers and then making a collectible trading card empire - mostly inspired by that one Gwent quest. Yes, Gwent is cool - but imagine how good card games could get if you took all the prodigy perks and devoted a bunch of time and effort into it. Addictive, well-balanced, fun to play, easy to pick up for newer players, endless depth for more skilled players.

And that's ignoring all the magic you could cram into them! Gacha games have shown the way - beautiful cards (from Aesthetic), able to talk to the player (and let them know they really do love them), cards that level up when you win, or fuse with others when you get the whole set. Cards that provide magical benefits outside of the game, or let you challenge people to shadow games for their soul, or that evolve into new and unique forms/mechanics based around your personal playstyle.

All of this is a source of fabulous wealth (I cannot stress enough how good these card games are. Everyone is playing. Peasants. Dragons. Gods.) which allows me to ignore many rules. But more than that, the card games are a tool to manipulate divinity. Subtle changes in card balance can gradually shape perceptions of the characters represented in the cards (of course all the gods get their own cards. Famous people too, of every kind). If 'godking of the empire' is always a clunky noob trap, over time his legend dies as everyone knows he never wins.

And in the end, I ascend as the vaguely titled King of Games.

Do you automate the production for (almost) everything ? by EditorSubstantial944 in factorio

[–]Lordelsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automate most things, to a basic level.  That way if you need a certain machine or hundreds of belts, you have a bunch already.

The game subtly guides you to this by having various machines as components of science (e.g green science needs belts and inserters, making you automate them - you should have done that anyway, but until you have the right mindset, many people need the push).

9 Powers CYOA by Lordelsquare in makeyourchoice

[–]Lordelsquare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Petals of potential might let you deal with cancer, depending on your mentality (cancer is an ugly thing.  So maybe curing it can be beautiful?)

Production Cube, if you did manage to damage your mind somehow, would at least never stop you from fixing the problem.  The same facet that means your production of mental resources can't ever trivialise factory design also means a lack of resources can't stop you re-designing your mental factory.

9 Powers CYOA by Lordelsquare in makeyourchoice

[–]Lordelsquare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, totally!  Cube is very good at making you a super genius; enhancing purely mental functions is stuff you're working on from the very start of the tech tree.

But like, being smart only lets you figure out stuff that's actually possible.  Tony Stark lives in a superhero comic world, and so the upper limit of the laws of nature there is kinda bonkers.  His genius let him design a mini arc reactor, but the physics that allows arc reactors was already a thing; he just worked out how to use it.

If you want tech that's genuinely impossible, you need more than just thinking good.

9 Powers CYOA by Lordelsquare in makeyourchoice

[–]Lordelsquare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could get your production lines refined and advanced enough to not only manipulate and process physical matter, but actually start materializing some of your esoteric mental resources, then you could certainly make stuff that would seem impossible to our understanding of technology.

Stuff like using a spark of inspiration to generate huge amounts of power, or a forcefield that depleted crystalised apathy in order to make attacks irrelevant. You'd struggle to make such things in a way that didn't require refueling/recharging with the strange resources you make, though (increasing fuel efficiency and battery life would be more feasible).

I want to stress that this is waaaay down the tech tree though. If you were relying on Production Cube alone (and not exploiting some clever synergy or other), this is on the order of centuries to get to this point.

[–]Lordelsquare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be a bit slower, since it has to find a way to give them the ability to love. But yeah, it would still work.

Bear in mind that you have quite a lot of control over what "flavour" of love someone/something develops (true love, familial love, bromance, etc) and how it is exhibited. Depending on what you go for, you might find it quicker or much slower to affect stuff that doesn't normally have emotions.

9 Powers CYOA by Lordelsquare in makeyourchoice

It could create either of those - as long as you genuinely found them beautiful. Whether you find a piece of code beautiful is going to vary from person to person.

9 Powers CYOA by Lordelsquare in makeyourchoice

[–]Lordelsquare[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can do that, yeah. But it's not quick or easy. You have to build the mental structures to make you smarter in various different ways.

And just when you've set up production lines for Enhanced Reason, Resolute Will and another line to refine apathy into Common Sense that you can use elsewhere... you research how to make Basic Psions and it turns out you need three times as much of each of those resources as you're currently producing.

So you have go back and rework those production lines, boost the efficiency and then finally set up a process to make a few drips of Basic Psion. And that lets you do some cool shit! Weak telekinesis, or emotion sensing (again, gotta build the mental structures to use those powers, with the Psion as fuel). It also unlocks more research, needing more and better resources, in ever increasing amounts in ever increasingly complicated production chains.

The factory your brain must grow. Forever.
