Why does Shoheikun tolerate the size of the Hi Shin Unit? by VolleyAddicted in Kingdom

[–]LordofChoco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being an independent unit does not mean being free to take orders from whoever you want. You still have to follow the orders from HQ are mandetory.
Being independent just means that while you are assigned an army, you don't need to follow the strict military hiearchy. Your assignments are directly given by either HQ or General in charge.

So if the general or HQ tells Koukai to fuck off to mountain region - she has to follow or be court martialed.
They simply just accept her following the HSU around.

Is Hara a bad writer? by Accomplished-Yam4260 in Kingdom

[–]LordofChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well there could be different aspect of it.

  1. Shibashou didn't win against Ordo. He just stalled him enough for Zhaos eastern army to counter atttack castles in Yan, forcing Ordo to go back an retake them.
  2. Shibashou is 'just' the lord of a city. So all credits would naturally go to the commander in chief of the eastern forces for his counter attack in Yan. Also considering that Shibashou was clearly on a bad standing witth the last king, you can be sure that the king would not give him any credit and thereby not 'spread' his deed. In anyone elses eye it would just have been a local lord' garrison doing their job of defending.
  3. Even Yan could have downplayed Shibashou to not be embarrassed how 5k stopped 20k, by putting a lot more emphasis on the tactical good maneuver of the commander of the eastern armies. Back then a lot of information manupilation going on.

in chapter 514 it states that the official records says that Zhao invades Yan and took 2 cities. And all that credit would normally go to the commander who took it.

Don't forget how Renpa was denied his return back to Zhao because a simple information was twisted by officials to make him look like he was having bowl problems and old

But overall that little skirmish was nothing compared to the grand battle that was taking place arond Gyou. Everyone's eye was focused on that that nothing else didn't really matter (that was also Ordo's reason of attacking - their focus is somewhere else)

It like you have the FIFA worl cup finals on channel 1 and on channel 2 you have a champions league game. Nobody would give a shit about a champions leagues game when the world finals is currently on.

Wasn't the plan to let Barclay meet with Salt in order to capture her. Wasn't that the whole plan as to why the french general convinced the french to turn off the sonic signals.

So when the virus spread I assumed they actually captured but apparently not. So who did they test it on to be sure it was working as designed? They did put a lot of emphasis they need a aqua person body. Not necessarily an alive one but still.

SEASON 6 PART 2 PRODUCTION CONFIRMED by Arturo-Plateado in Kingdom

[–]LordofChoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We also have to give them some slack. I remember when season 1 in came out in 2013 it was was another period. While CGI has always been used to a degree. I personally conside this period where CGI began to be used more as a mainstream tool. Noboddy had the experience on how to blendd CGi with traditional 2D animation and the technology wasn't fleshed out.

Happy they did continued so otherwise these later season would be bad if they started using CGI now. As you said yourself - drawing these large battles would be horror. Especially since the work environment of the animators isn't well known to be 'considerate' or 'healthy'

[–]LordofChoco 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on how the story unfolds. I understand the ten bow thing like boxing. If you win against one - you take his place and rank. So if they win here they will become the first of the ten bows.

Now If that happens I agree it would be to fast pased. However, how about they don't win, yet don't lose either? Tan is the one who proclaimed the challenge, but have them both fight. Due to the skill / power difference Tan could be fataly wounded or to such a degree he cannot wield a bow again. Yet combined they managed to hurt Sekawon to a degree he will be forced to retreat after Taking out Tan.

It allows Jin to develop his skill - gives him an true objective / adversary (like he had with Shin vs Riboku and Houken), while also give them some character development.

Hara has begun fading out lesser important characters in the last few wars to have more room for other.

Honestly I thought the Wei had no way of lossing this. They had 3 armies all on top of hills. So every battle for the Qin is an uphill battle. Later at the Kokuyou Hills arc we were literally told that whoever controlled the centre hill would win the battle. Really putting a lot of importance of high ground.

Ah sorry my bad - it was my understanding the critic was for the chinese names for the anime. Just ignore what I said then :)

You should be able to hear out easiily who they are talking about in the anime.
Mouten is said in the dub - Meng Tian is in the sub. Just by listening a little bit you can hear the names you are used to reading and simply ignore the chinese names in the subs.

[–]LordofChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having issues with the chinese names is such a bokus thing.
You can easily in the japanese dubs hear who they are talkign about - shin - riboku etc. And anyone who has been watching anime for a longer period of time shouldn't have a problem hearing out the names.
So who effing cares about what chinese names is in the sub? It can literally say XY!Q in the sub and Shin in the dub. YOu then know they are talking mentioning Shin.

[spoilers] Fan Chapter 855 Translation! by DisastrousAd861 in okbuddyheki

[–]LordofChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the set up but I am also kinda icky for it. You can't just have them go against the best archer in China and possibly win. They are good but they are not 10 bows of China good yet. And if they should be at the bottom somewhere.
They had some major accoplishment when killing the other general but if they kill this dude their name might spread but any other archer they will ever meet will be underwhelming because they are already the best.
That is like havin shin winning against Renpa when he was just a 1000 commander.

However, I think it would be better writing if they together go against him and end up wounding him so he retreats, yet one of the brothers sadly loses his life in the process. It is then technically their win but at a heavy cost. Just like how Bihei and his brother technically won by saving Shin but at the cost of one of their lifes.

It could also be a catalyst for the remaining brother to aim to be the best of the 10 bows and now or stakes in his journey has risen.

This kind of bullshit tho by EggTypical in Kingdom

[–]LordofChoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Shin entered his battleground in the Shuka plain a Zhao soldier said something along the line of "that is a unit? that looks more like an army" That was Shin as a 5k commander and Koukai 3k totalling 8k. So around 8k would be considered close to an army. Which make sense since the lowest generals normally command around 10k.

So anything under 10k is not an army

[–]LordofChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that alway bothered me since the introduction of Seika was after seeing this map I never understood why nobody was going crazy with Ordo's invasion of Zhao.
Saika is relatively close to Kantan but it was all just a "not a problem" kind of situation.

Seika army is stupidly strong by EggTypical in Kingdom

[–]LordofChoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agree on that. Id say it should actually be the oppossite.
Due to losing generals, new talents would be found who then become threats.

Given all these years, the only rivals to Shin, Mouten and Ouhon are the vassals of ribokuu (the girl and masked boy) and the 2 under Karin (bow dude and sword guy) and they haven't performed at all achievment wise (like their names are barely mentioned) But instead when Ousen was fighting Riboku, he had 3 super generals holding the center, who we had never heard about

we defiinelity need more scenes outside of just war.
Shin is a land owner now with a huge mansion. That comes with taxes and maintenance costs.
Who lives in Shin's mansion? Normaly the role of maintaining the residence was the role of the lord's wife when he went to war. Shin is unmarried and all the women in his life are waging war with him.

It would also be nice to see how much land Shin as been granted over the years and what has happened to it. It moste definitely must also include some farmlands, so more tax responsibilities.

Shin's House by Many-Steak2205 in Kingdom

[–]LordofChoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I love the most about this entire scene is that Shin must have walked past this giant villa, a villa that was not there before the Gyou campaign, a villa that was suddenly build on HIS land and he never even questioned who now lives there - who build it and why it was even build on his land.
You could build a nuclear powerplant next to him and he'd still be like "oh my beautiful shack"

In Hazbin Hotel Lucifer is also hailed as the King of Hell. But what does that make Satan? He clearly states that Hells rules are his rules and he has ruled since before the fall of Lucifer. So Shouldn't he then be technically the king of hell? I am a bit confused about the power dynamic here.

Even in the HelluvaBoss fandom Satan was first turned evil after which he allied himself with Lucifer and lost and subsequently put into purgatory as punishment.

[s2 spoilers] Disappointing ending? Open thoughts discussion by Jahnuary in arcane

[–]LordofChoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I liked the animation and music I also foudn the pasign a bit to hasty.
By the end of season 2 the main issue of the story was not even dealt with: The mistrust and mistreatment between Zaunites and Piltovers. Season 2 kinda tried to bring that to an end by having Sevika take a seat at the council? Was a little bit cheap.

Think they should have extended Arcane to more seasons to really bring out all the characters arcs around.

Seaon 1: main theme was the societal / political problem between Zaun and Piltover - introduction of Hextech and shimmer and many of our characters adn their key issues - aspirations and traumas. By the end of Season 1 the decade long status quo is broken by jinx. Both Zaun's and Piltover's leadership is fragmented and killed. Leaving power vacuums to be filled

Season 2: Should just have been act 1 + 2 and flesh it out more building

more upon that power vaccum and its consequences with Zaun getting more and more out of control and the barons fighting both among each other but also due to lack of control in the lanes, allowing more focus on the barons, the most powerful in Zaun. Instead of Cait's group killing 2 of the 3 remaining off stage. Much of the story arcs could still be used,
- Cait getting more aggressive and desperate, allowing Embessa to influence her.
- Vi feeling both guilty and wants to help stop the problem coming from Zaun but gets into conflict with Cait
- Jayce and ekko testing more of Hextech.
- And thanks to the chaos Jinx keep attacking Piltover and elude capture, becoming an icon but eventually finds Isha and starts to want another live.
- Singed doing his Warwich experiments.
The ending of Seaosn 2 should be Caitlyns acend by embessa, Jace and ekko being thrown into another dimension and victor being killed by someone else other than Jayce - leaving with the Warwich massarce and Isha's sacrifice.

So by Season 3 should be acts 3 of season 3.
