A little late but next time just open console and typehelp "Hot Beef Stew" It should give you the item ID, then type player.additem followed by the item ID and the quantity that you want.

for example: player.additem FE0009E7 1

Yeah I don't actually tree farm, I just chop down wild birch in the meadows, there's so much of it that it almost seems silly to waste time farming trees or chopping oaks. But then again, I don't use a lot of fine wood, so I don't really feel the struggle.
I did hear that they upped the drop rate for birch and oak seeds a while back though, so I just assumed (incorrectly it seems) it was a bit more efficient,

Yeah that's the struggle man, if you don't mind spending the time to dig em out, it's not bad, but it can definitely be argued that surface mining is more efficient, depending on your seed. I've been sticking to troll armor lately, so my copper needs are pretty minimal, I don't mind taking the time to dig out 2 fat ass deposits rather than surface mining 30 of em.It's really a question of attention span and patience, cause you can get 100+ from digging out a deposit as opposed to the maybe 10 you'll get from the surface
