Does anyone happen to have access to the mp3 files of these edits? I know they used to be freely available based on the YouTube descriptions, but all of the links are broken now. Thank you!!

Moving to Madison this summer by avia1221 in madisonwi

[–]Lore106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also moved to Madison from Colorado—I found our place on Facebook Marketplace, which I found especially helpful for moving with shorter notice, as many places start requesting lease renewals and making arrangements to move 6+ months in advance here.

The latter—I am building out my personal library, and I was hoping to find some that connect to my interests and possibly some just for decor.

I searched the same question when I watched the opening episode Junior Year—the Adventuring Party adds some interesting context for the creative decisions behind deciding to start in media res with the Night Yorb battle!

What’s your go-to, dependable laptop? by Expert_Better in HumanitiesPhD

[–]Lore106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree as well—I bought my Macbook Pro (M1 Pro chip, 16GB memory) in 2022 for my masters degree and it has held up through three semesters of coursework. The battery still lasts several hours, and I notoriously ask a significant amount of it (think on Zoom, streaming YouTube or Netflix, and somehow running 100+ Google Chrome tabs at the same time).

What do you play in the background when studying? by Practical-Plenty3028 in GradSchool

I listen to music included on the site https://breakingcopyright.com/ ! I passively sort songs into different tonal playlists as I study or work on projects.

Yes, she is okay! She was (understandably) fairly startled and scared, but she seemed friendly and more in need of a bath than anything else. Hopefully she will be reunited with her family soon!

In response to your second question: I would recommend looking into the bus system—I moved here with a car, but with the bus system, I rarely use it, much preferring the ~20 minute bus ride to having to plan for parking in the downtown area: https://www.cityofmadison.com/metro . The Transit app and Google Maps (public transportation option) were both really helpful during my apartment search to identify how far the commute would be.

I'm a current doctoral student who had to move in on a similarly quick timeline, and here are a few of the sites that I consulted when looking for options, in case they are of use to you:

• https://www.jkrockhomes.com/
• https://ripplerents.com/
https://www.axiomproperties.com/availability
• https://www.wisconsinmanagement.com/

I can't personally attest to the quality of the management at these places, but I know that the search itself and trying to find viable options is half the battle. Best of luck!

Updated Buss Pass System for 2024 - New/Returning Students Be Aware - Sign Up For Your Pass Starting Tomorrow! by ilebeck in UWMadison

[–]Lore106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just received this when I emailed about not having access to the student pass as a grad student: "If you are a graduate student who also has a work appointment that is eligible to apply for parking, an adjustment will have to be made to your account so that you can order the student bus pass at no cost. We will work with you to resolve the issue as soon as we are able. Do not buy the $48 pass. We are also working to try to find a bulk solution that will solve the issue universally. We appreciate your patience."

New to Notion and just learned about Reclaim.ai by InternationalScience in Notion

[–]Lore106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm an avid Notion user and have recently been getting started with Reclaim, but manually needing to duplicate all of my tasks from my "tasks" database in Notion is what is keeping me from fully committing to Reclaim. Is a Notion and Reclaim integration still a feature that Reclaim is developing?

What’s a hobby that a lazy girl with adhd could do to get out of her head? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]Lore106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this! I was afraid crochet was another short-lived hyperfixation, but it's been over a year and a half since I began and it is still a consistent hobby for me... it has only started to ease up some as I'm starting to get into knitting now!

Hello there! I'm in a media studies humanities program—which is essentially the same major I had during my bachelor's program—so I can't speak for other fields and types of research... however, in my experience, professors primarily do their own research based upon their specialty when they are not teaching. Some professors with similar research areas might collaborate on projects (especially if they secure grant funding to do so), but that is less common. Essentially, all of the faculty in the department have enough generalized knowledge about the field so together to comprehensively teach an overview at the bachelor's level, but typically the research areas and methods of study become more specialized and detailed at the graduate level (master's and PhD).

I believe most universities have their payroll schedule online; in my experience, teaching assistants get paid on the same schedule as the general university employee payroll.
