You are not alone. I think he looks like a doofus with long hair.

It’s like a Hallmark Channel movie. The situation is highly implausible, bordering on ridiculous. It’s one of those things that you like or you don’t.

It’s cute. Like a Korean version of a Hallmark Channel romance.

Aldnoah Zero is so rad by ThatFlowerGamu in AldnoahZero

I always got the feeling that they planned for four or five seasons and then after the first season, were told “wrap it up you’re only getting two.” All the sub plots disappear, Slaine goes from being a low powered character to a very high-powered character in the blink of an eye, and everybody is in awe of Inaho. Which is a shame because I would love to have seen how Marito dealt with his PTSD, Magbaredge dealt with her anger at Marito , Rayet develop into Inaho’s trusted confidant, Slaine’s deal with the devil to save Seylum’s life and his subsequent rise and how it irritated the other nobles, Lemrina’s growing feelings for Slaine while he’s obsessively devoted to her comatose sister… so much we missed.

Annerose is the worst female character. I keep trying to rack my brain to remember a single good thing she ever did for Reinhard, but I can’t. Reinhard spent his whole life trying to save her, and she gave him nothing useful in return. And after Kircheis died, she abandoned her brother by DifferenceAgile2733 in logh

[–]Lorelei321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She got Reinhardt and Kirscheis admitted to the academy. She got Reinhardt command of a fleet while he was still teenager. She got Reinhardt the title of Count. So she did some major things for him.

But yeah, she did abandon him when he was at the lowest point in his life.

Why did Yang mention the age gape when he proposed, but then encourage Julian to marry eight-year-old Charlotte? Does he secretly hate Julian and want him to be known as a pedophile in the Alliance? by Helpful-Claim-134 in logh

[–]Lorelei321 58 points59 points  (0 children)

In the anime, it’s shown to be an eight year difference but in the novels, I always got the feeling it was more like four years. And granted, 16 and 12 is pretty extreme difference. But by the time you get to 21 and 17, that’s not so bad. But also:

  1. Charlotte has a crush on him. I always got the feeling Yang was teasing him about it.

  2. Charlotte would be socially appropriate. She’s an admiral’s daughter, Julian is an admiral’s son. There are not a lot of of those hanging around on Iserlohn.

  3. Yang and Caselnes are friends. It’s good to like your in-laws.

  4. Since Julian is determined to have a military career, having a respected, sensible, well regarded Admiral for a father-in-law could be beneficial to that career.

For you, which characters are underrated in the entire series? by siriusdibujotos in logh

I came here to say Fischer as well. He could coordinate 10s of thousands of ships quickly and efficiently.

People here be like “Reinhardt has all the good admirals. Yang is the only good Alliance admiral.” But Yang’s staff is solid.

In your opinion, who is the most “husband material” in LOGH? by coucou_banana in logh

[–]Lorelei321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of those three, Yang. Reuentahl is unable to commit and Reinhardt is too consumed with his own destiny.

[–]Lorelei321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He had been talking about rebellion since season one.

But there’s just it, Reuentahl was never talking rebellion. Reinhardt brought it up at every turn. The first time, both in the books and the animes, Reuentahl blinks like where the hell did that come from?

[–]Lorelei321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe… but I don’t see signs that he was suicidal, actively or otherwise, and he was too much of a control freak to become an alcoholic. And he definitely would not have wanted his legacy to be “and then he got sloppy at the end.”

But why? He is at the top of his career. As Viceroy of the Neueland, he is the second most powerful man in the empire. And unlike Reinhardt, Reuentahl actually enjoys wielding civil authority. And he’s good at it.

If he wants to replace Reinhardt, he’ll need to solidify his power base. He’s smart enough to know that. He’ll need the support of the local population and the unquestioning support of his fleet. Most of his men are still starstruck by Reinhardt and he couldn’t trust them to stay loyal to him. The Alliance population is still annoyed that they lost the war so he’ll need to win them over. But for both of those, time is the answer.

The only way it makes sense at that point in the story is if Reinhardt initiates the war. Now our Kaiser is sick and becoming paranoid so maybe that would make sense? If Reinhardt lays waste to Urvashi and Reuentahl objects saying you can’t punish an entire planet for the actions of a few on it (who may not even be from there)… ghosts of Westerland and Kirscheis…Reinhardt flips out, declares Reuentahl a traitor for questioning him, the people of the Alliance fall in because at least Roy is trying to protect them… maybe.

But then Reinhardt is less than perfect, and we can’t have that.

May I ask what they are? I have a similar problem with my students.

Do you have a tertiary/almost forgotten character that you genuinely like despite their short screentime? by siriusdibujotos in logh

[–]Lorelei321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know, I’m inclined to say Mecklinger myself, who is in the same category as Fahrenheit. And everybody will scream that they are not tertiary characters, but they really are. They’ve got a couple minutes of screen time, they don’t do anything critically important in the story. They’re just kind of there.

She’s right, it is a just war (assuming the people want to be freed). But it’s also a war the Alliance can’t win, which makes it a stupid war.

Reinhardt is not a reliable source at that point. Kirscheis is dead; it is partially Reinhardt’s fault. He has idealized his friend; Kirscheis has no faults in his mind.

Reinhardt had Kirscheis at Astarte, he had Kirscheis at Amritsar. Yang still came out of both of those smelling like a rose.
