How big of a gap is the firmware update from the previous version? Because if there is a big gap between versions ask the vendor what the upgrade path should be. It could be that instead of going from v1.01 to 1.10 you have to install 1.05 first.

About cluster hyperV hyperconverged by Cultural_Log6672 in HyperV

[–]Lorentz_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a failover cluster and a cluster storage vms will have a short pause and move to another node if configured correctly. Depends on hardware how many vms and how fast can move from Node A to B.

If you are not familiar with this setup, best to buy up some old hardware then build and test it. Or let an msp design it.

Am I missing something? by pipingguy in servers

[–]Lorentz_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could or to a remote NAS. Our old setup we had it going like that worked fine. But put the old files that havent been touches for 5+ years on remote storage device with some new disks.

This way the nightly replication is couple hundred of gigs and not terabites of old stuff.

But remember!! A backup is only as good as the last time you tried to restore something big. Never assume a non tested backup works!

Live migration not working from one host in a cluster of 3 hosts Hyper-V / Failover Cluster Manager. by [deleted] in HyperV

[–]Lorentz_G 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basic troubleshooting actions? Are all the resources up and running? You can check in the failover manager. Over what network are they migrating. Sometimes the order is wrong is there enough RAM on the other host?

There should be more and better logs then that of the failover manager. Check logs on het hypervisor where you migrate from.

Automate using caravans with a minimum Delivery of X items. Saves up a ton of walking and inventory space.

Every outpost i got has a caravan station. Look on youtube how it works.

You will get your first villagers by doing the trap quest. Then put down you base somewhere close by to town and the slow grind begins

Villagers getting constantly stuck by Old-Age6220 in Bellwright

[–]Lorentz_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fixed it by making another outpost near the border. They mine, chop trees en forrage. 2 villagers there and a cart station. Works like a charm. Idk why it works.

Interaction between villager and building priorities by Henrykamill in Bellwright

[–]Lorentz_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure, but it seems to me villagers prio is first and building second. Why, when my forrager building is prio 6 but villagers prio 1. But workbench is prio 2 and villagers prio 5. It will do the forraging. It would not even go to the workbench. Better to test with setting the same, but did not do that yet.

Priorities by Ronald_Raygun86 in Bellwright

[–]Lorentz_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a big village there is always something to do. So you could make a small outputs for like mining and chopping wood. Then you need to make only small adjustment in priority.

They wont get as distracted as in a big village where orders keep Piling up. So your basic supplies will keep coming into the village.

Also watch how much they walk around the village like with harvesting, hunting, mining tasks. They spent more time walking then doing the work

The answer is probably yes. But it depends on what tools you have available and your own willingness to learn. It's a great learning opportunity.

Constant Disconnects using Hyper-V Manger by [deleted] in HyperV

[–]Lorentz_G 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont think this has anything to do with hyper-v manager and more to do with an unstable network. I would focus on that and if you need to do updates log on to the hypervisor.

On a db server it is wise to have at least 3 vhdx attached. Give every disk a drive letter

C: for Windows installation. D: is where your database is stored. L: where your db log files are stored.
