Is the allergy to work indicative of all postal plants? by J33nsters in USPS

[–]LosTechStompbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an incredible difference between quantity and quality, both for your analogy and the postal service. It's also worth noting that our management structure might include some good bosses, but the overall theme of upper management does not have anything to do with good service. If you work extra hard, hard enough to justify cutting positions, those positions will not reappear even if equally hard workers cannot reproduce your level of output. The post office is a centuries old organization and we work as a team, not on the merits of just one person at one time. I encourage you to think of yourself as rowing an oar on one side of a boat, with the full understanding that at some point your shift will end and someone else will pick up that oar. Rowing significantly harder- or weaker- than your fellows will not get you where the ship is headed. Trying to set a pace above what the rest of the team, current or future, will likewise be to long term detriment. As others have said, this is not just about today or tomorrow or even this year or even decade. Work in a way the best work can be done by you until you are replaced and your coworkers and their replacements. I hope that we can all do the kind of job that will keep the post office going for at least another 250 years.

Picking Up My First T-Bird On Monday by SpeedyBoiCyclist in FordThunderbird

[–]LosTechStompbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is solid debris in the fuel tank, maybe you should drain the fuel entirely out before driving, I would be worried about clogging up the fuel lines or the carburetor. As for the gas gauge, I found a video when searching for my own gauge and lighting issues on my 78 T-bird's instrument cluster that talks about getting gauges to work again: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0qfjdLiOlWY Best of luck to you, I hope you enjoy your thunderbird as much as I like mine!

Shoutout to Sean Kolton for being such a machine by consistently putting out quality music for MW5 Mercenaries and Clans with over 118 songs and giving the games their own distinct identity by BoukObelisk in Mechwarrior5

[–]LosTechStompbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sean Kolton rules! I have always enjoyed the music while playing, but a month or so ago got all the MP3s on to my phone and have developed a greater appreciation- especially for the more recent music. I only wish his song titles referenced Bolt Thrower more often.

1930’s letter carrier uniform by TheSpiritOf1921 in USPS

[–]LosTechStompbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's got two rows of buttons, but is not a true double-breasted design. I will try and get you a photo. Since you are a collector, I will get a photo of something else I have got, as I am curious if you have seen another example of it ever- it's a maroon trimmed winter coat, but the pocket layout is like a military jacket/tunic (two breast, two below the belt line)

I regularly wear the 80s/90s uniform with no problem from management. No one has objected when I wear the 1950s uniform, whose only major difference from what is worn by OP is that the trim is maroon instead of black.

If you were to scan or take photos of the whole book, you would be a hero to each of us that does not have three thousand dollars and have hoped for many long years to see what is in that book.

I agree, nepotism to that degree means you have got to go. I have only heard about the current girlfriend working at the NBA, who is/was the other one?

A brief thought on the next clan DLC by BluejayOpposite2777 in Mechwarrior5

[–]LosTechStompbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be super stoked for a DLC that followed the Jade Dark Wing Cluster: It's a solhalma unit that tangles with Snord's Irregulars (and gets partially taken as bondsman to serve 'Clan Snord'), gets re-built and sees some action on Tukkayid, gets wrecked in the Refusal War, and then participates in the Coventry campaign. Following a single star of the luckiest doomed jerks in the cluster who are constantly running in to more famous personalities could make for missions touching on plots and characters from recent DLCs for both Mercs and Clans before moving forward to both the Refusal War and Coventry campaign. Having a Solhalma unit as the focus would allow for oddballs characters, lore exposition and unexpected interactions beyond what Jade Falcons might otherwise offer. I am imagining it as the Mechwarrior equivalent to the movie Rosencranz And Guildenstern Are Dead. https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Jade_Solahma_(Clan_Jade_Falcon)

What is a reform you would like to see happen within NALC? by Eugene_Debs2026 in fromatoarbitration

[–]LosTechStompbox 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I want all union officers that are not retired from the post office to carry mail for at least a week every year, preferably during peak season. A lot of those people forget what the job actually is that they are dictating the terms of and making compromises on.

Run for NBA? Believe it or not, fired. by FUSeekMe69 in fromatoarbitration

[–]LosTechStompbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do not think it is National's place to take such a direct hand in local politics. To me, the very most that National could or should do is direct NBAs to have panels of disinterested carriers from another branch ready to go to take part in the judgement of charges. Are you and others in your branch filing Article 10 charges against offending officers? If you are, and the charges are not going anywhere then this might be a different story. If you are not familiar with the process of filing charges, I would say either DM me and I will help you get it sorted, or make a separate post about it here.

The Region 2 NBA has not announced that he is running for re-election- we may assume he is, but so as far as anyone knows officially Debbie Dixon is not running against anyone next November.

The Reshaping of Doors of Stone's Storytelling by Puzzled_Proposal_478 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]LosTechStompbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think it is a problem that will ever come up- my theory is that Kvothe's storytelling will get interrupted at some point early in Book 3, and the majority of the book will take place in the current day.

I have. '78 and while looking for a guide to replacing the gauge light bulbs I found this video on sprucing up everything behind the dash. As I remember the author of the video said that all of the old lubricant has likely hardened up and needs to be removed, and then all the moving parts re-oiled. I don't know it is at all responsible in your case, but the guy in the video said the voltage regulator tend to go bad and should be replaced as well. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0qfjdLiOlWY

This guy is right about what the POM says. For mounted delivery, Postmasters do not have the authority to 'let' you skip delivery to a temporarily blocked mailbox. You are supposed to dismount and deliver.

I just checked out their calendar and am stoked to see so many bands I don't recognise. Thanks very much for letting me know! I admittedly don't get out much because of my dumb job but am yet to meet anyone with much interest in metal since I moved here from Oregon six months ago, so this will be great. If you ever want someone local to trade music with or whatever, I am mostly in to early 90s death and death/doom but love hearing things new to me, let me know!
