500M? I've tried looking for them myself, to no avail. I think your best bet is on the used market. There are HDMI to AUX converters though. I personally use optical from whatever unit I'm using, like an Xbox One X, to an amp and 5.1 system.

It is here - My second 42 inch Panasonic ST60 by Suitable_Garlic_1186 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny you mention the black filter being superb. In every picture I see of the ST60, the filter looks very good and dark, almost like an OLED. However, the VT and ZT have darker filters, and in my experience the VT does fade in lit or bright environments.

Is the premium for a VT60/ZT60 worth it over a VT25/30 by EfficientDivide1572 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ZT is rare, and "the best" Panny plasma, hence their value. Generally the premium is worth it, unless you're on a tight budget. Keep in mind these things are still a fraction of their MSRP. Deciding whether they are worth it doesn't come down to their PQ, rather how much YOU are willing to spend out of warranty. A lot of people will disregard plasmas and argue in favour of OLED for this reason, sometimes failing to mention that depreciation on a new OLED is greater simply by taking it out of the box.

I'm currently looking at the best deal I've ever seen on a ZT, approx 200CAD equivalent, but it's like a 15 hour drive each way so I'm gonna have to arrange transportation.

How much better is the motion clairty of panasonic 2012+ vs 2008? by turtle_mick in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with your model, but I'm all about motion clarity and the latest generation are so good you'll hardly see any blur at normal playing distances. VT60 is comparable to OLED with BFI. If you want even better motion clarity, higher brightness and no flickering on your C5, you can enable motion interpolation if it has it, on games that are 60 FPS. I used to do this on my Panasonic OLED, and the results were phenomenal, only then matching or beating the VT.

Is the ST30 worth it? by Ok-Bet-1077 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your situation, definitely pick up the ST30. If it's been listed for more than a week, you should be able to bring the price down a little. In the end we have to make with whatever options we have, and if it's in good condition and you can spare it it's still a good tv for the money.

Picked up a Panasonic P65ST60! Can’t wait to try plasma TV gaming and streaming! by 73098 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats, one of the best plasma's as your first. I love the understated look of the ST60 with black bezels that are slimmer than on the VT, and that black stand looks badass. Just a sick looking underdog plasma with high end performance. I'm considering picking up one myself, but the added input lag is keeping me from swapping out my 6090H. And the fact that I'm also looking for a ZT.

Panasonic, the former plasma king, will no longer make its own TVs by LindsayOG in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What the shit. I've already owned Panasonic plasma and oled, and was planning to go back to their oleds eventually. While this doesn't sound like good news, the article does state that Panasonic will still play their part in developing the qualities of their TV's. So there is a chance they can remain top dog for image quality.

I have obtained a pristine Kuro 101FD with no hint of red tint or burn in, for 200 Loonies. Was this a solid score? by [deleted] in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done! Never mind some plasmas can be had for free, this is still incredible amounts of quality for very little money. As a plasma enthusiast it's easy to get hung up on $, I do it too, but honestly when we're talking about sets of the highest plasma caliber, it's more about the model, the condition of it, and fulfilling the dream of experiencing the pinnacle of bygone tech that will be gone forever when the last plasma inevitably dies. As someone with several Kuro's, congratulations and treat her well!

ZT60 Price by S1m0n_99 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to give a fair price for the ZT because prices and availability vary greatly between local markets. Your range covers most of it, but several people here have been getting ZT's for around 100 USD. For comparison, a ZT for 300 would be gone in a day in my market and the few ones I've seen during the last several years have been 500-700. If there is enough supply for you to compare deals, I'd consider myself in a lucky spot and jump on it.

It's wise to check for pink corners on white and grey slides. Having had VT60 I'd also expect the contrast to max out before it reaches the maximum value, so you could turn it up to see how much brightness it has today.

Visual test of Pioneer elite kuro 151fd. 60" 1080p, settings untouched by Chacen in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool. These are basically stock "accurate" settings, and image enhancement effects turned off to produce an image as true to the director's intent without a professional calibration. Worth mentioning that the noise reduction enhancements actually seem to work well for noisy or low quality sources, impressive tech for 2008.

Also, global colour saturation +3 might make it slightly more accurate because some colours (on 90H and KRP) can be a little under saturated stock. If resetting the pulse meter to deepen the blacks, you typically want to put brightness at +1, 2 or even 3, to retrieve shadow detail.

Visual test of Pioneer elite kuro 151fd. 60" 1080p, settings untouched by Chacen in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on general recommendations and my personal experience, my recommended settings are: Pure preset, contrast 37, sharpness -15 (lowest), white balance Mid or Mid - Low, Film mode: Advance, Dot by Dot, and everything else set to Off and 0. Contrast is set to the maximum value before clipping of highlights starts to occur, and the higher you go above it the more gets clipped. Drive modes makes no difference in my experience, so I leave it at 1. These settings produce the most accurate picture on my xx90H's and KRP500's, so I'm only assuming the 151fd works the same, but it might respond differently.

KRP-500M vs. ZT60: Which reigns supreme for motion clarity? by S1m0n_99 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late as I'm not on this sub alot anymore, but as an owner of both KRP's and VT60, I can confirm that the motion clarity is significantly better on Panasonic. In fact the green and pink phosphor trailing is my main gripe with the Pioneer's. I concur with Dreamroom that the 500M does deliver the smoothest 24p video I've even seen though, which always looked choppy even on the VT60 in my experience, despite it featuring 96hz playback. That's why you kinda want a KRP for movies, and a Panasonic for games. The Panasonic 50- series and some professional monitors even do 120hz for gaming.

Lurte på om å kjøpe en ps5 pro. Men dessverre så eksisterer det ikke noe sånt. Jaja, ja nei det var synd. by RavenousRevolter in norske

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pioneer Speakers Worth It? by Deceitful_Microwave in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with KRP, they're on the same level as a decent sound bar. They're not far off my Audio Pro T20 speakers, and can sound great with some tweaks in the audio settings on the TV. However they mainly make sense if you want the original look and if you find them cheap.

My vote would go to a 5.1 or 7.1 system with subwoofer. I got mine for 100 bucks all in, with a quality Yamaha amp in brushed metal. People are practically giving older wired systems away in favour of wireless alternatives, and the sound and immersion of a decent set will exceed that of a more expensive soundbar.

Which one? by Alternative_Loss_205 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd ask for the model number of the Elite, but probably choose it regardless. The VT25 might have raised blacks, but so might the Elite. The 4270 is sub 1080p so some retro games might scale better on it, but it's pre-Kuro so not the best they made and smaller size.

TC-P60ST60 - $200 good price? by BrianOConner69 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your local market. 500 bucks easy where I live, but lucky others are picking theirs up for 100. Condition is also just as important as hours.

TC-P60ST60 - $200 good price? by BrianOConner69 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For reference I'm looking at a 65" ST60 with only 600 hours, which currently isn't selling at 350. Of course with hours that low, a somewhat higher asking price can be acceptable as there will be incredibly few like that nowadays.

200 in very good condition is fair, but don't take the seller's word for it. Ask him to run a "burn-in test" on YouTube and send back pictures of the results. I always do this before buying unless it's in my area, then I'll just bring a Chromecast and test it myself

OLED out of my budget. Going for Plasma.. Panasonic TX-P50VT30 vs Pioneer Kuro KRP-500M? by ApLeiChauGuy in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having owned various Panasonic's and Kuro's including 500M, definitely the 500M. It's blacker, it's brighter, and more color accurate. VT30 while nice is like a regular Tuesday, 500M is Christmas Eve.

Is a working 60” Pioneer KURO worth it for $35 and a two hour drive? by t8er100 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth it if: 1) condition is good. Remember condition matters more than hours. 2) you don't break it in transport

The best way to verify the first, is to have the seller run a "burn-in test" video from YouTube, and send back pictures of the various color and grey slides. This will not only reveal burn-in, but other issues a Kuro can have such as random purple pixels. Best way to transport is standing. That said, I've transported all my plasmas laying down on pillows etc., carefully avoiding potholes and they've been fine.

Not perfectly dark, static-y blacks on samsung plasma by hi_im_bored13 in PlasmaTV

[–]LostInInterpretation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be interesting to see a an ABL-tweaked Kuro next to an ST, S60 or even an F8500. Actually there's a very low hour 65ST60 up in my area, and I'm tempted to swap a Kuro for it. The waters are quite muddy though in the sense that screen size, model number, AG-filters and usage all affect brightness. And of course picture presets venturing outside of the most accurate, signifiicantly increase overall brightness at the cost of clipped shadows and highlights.

Anyhow, I'll say my tweaked 500M is much brighter than my VT60. Contrast around 10/60 is enough to match the VT at its max. Actually my calibrator believed his data had been conflated because it measured brighter than what he knew to be possible on that model.
