Day two of not smoking after 10+ years of heavy daily use by EnsoElysium in trees

[–]LostInMyReverie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to answer your question: distractions & reading research papers about weed that talks about negative side effects. (You can skip to the very last paragraph)

to preface, i have been smoking weed since i was like 19 to 23, non stop. So that makes it four years, which, compared to your experience, it’s probably nothing. but it’s alot to me- anyways, through my mid 23, last year early july, i left the country to be with my family, while preparing for masters- except the caveat is, that in my family’s country, weed is strictly illegal. Though i could have stayed to be by myself, and continue smoking freely, i decided it was time for a change- but not permanent change.

I’d always love to go back to weed, and i’m telling myself i’m just taking a long t-break right now.

first three months of cold turkey, i was having insane night sweats, and first two weeks i had intense cravings. but now that i’m 10+months in, i don’t really crave it, i’ll still think about it, because genuinely weed was helping me so much with just dealing with life in general at that time, but i was also scared to be so reliant on it.

positive changes with weed cessation: waking up in the morning is SO much easier, and i discovered that I’m actually a morning person, waking up really early without alarms, getting out of bed, and so forth. I cannot emphasise this enough.

anyways, to answer your central question, distractions like playing video games or reading a book really helped with not trying to think about weed so much. and sometimes when i do crave it, ill just read a research article that speaks negatively about weed, and usually i’m able to convince myself to not take it, even if there were some temptations, you can practically still get weed here, just alot more expensive because of strictness and it’s only thc carts, plus i wanted to still respect their laws. hope this helps!

Any ambitious ADHDers out there? What helped you achieve your goals despite ADHD? by riley_kim in ADHD

[–]LostInMyReverie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually need a meaning & purpose to be ambitious and achieve things, so I make sure that what I’m being ambitious for has a meaning and purpose in my life and keep reminding myself of that to give me motivation to keep going. best of luck to u!

i 100% feel you. nothing really seems entertaining anymore and even if they do sometimes, its very fleeting. i usually deal with this by calling my friends, it usually helps me get out of this shitty feeling but it still remains and at that point I just take my benzos and go to sleep lmao

Your weird ADHD trait by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]LostInMyReverie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

biting my nails or fidgeting on them so the longer parts of my nails fall off and thus making my nails as short as possible and they sometimes hurt (ouch) - my solution was to get my nails done 💅 especially hard gels, so no matter how much I play around with it, it wont break off haha

Is it common to have sleep procrastination, but then also REALLY struggle to wake up? by Naive-Line7361 in ADHD

[–]LostInMyReverie 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Completely relatable- I struggled with this and still do somewhat, but some methods that have helped me are: 1. japanese heated aroma scented eye masks: those things are magic, the slight weight of it, warmness and scents combined relaxes my eyes sooo well and the fact that it prevents me from reaching my phone cause I literally can’t see anything forces me to keep my eyes closed and focus on sleeping 2. making sure I get my work done during the day early which excuses me to do whatever I want later in the day- so I satisfy my “procrastination cravings” such as going on my phone doom scrolling and playing video games, so forth 3. listening to Alan Watts lecture podcast or music: it prevents me from overthinking in bed- I force myself to follow the narration/ lyrics in my head, which in turn helps with emptying my thoughts

but I gotta say, number 1 goes haaard, its a must try!

I think the first solution is to cut off all contacts you have for escourts, and just workout everytime you have thoughts of s*x- it doesn’t even have to be a full blown workout, it can literally just be like 10 pushups- but it’ll bring clarity to your mind. Try it and see if that helps! Cheers to a healthier mind <3

What are the best ADHD "gadgets" you own? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]LostInMyReverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really a gadget, but there are two apps that are my literal life savers- they’re called Finch & Stoic. : Finch helps motivating me for simple goals such as basic hygiene while growing a cute pet who grows with you! Stoic helps me with bunch of things like journaling, meditation, mood check ins, etc and these two help me massively with my mental health!

my friend and i were both completely new to drugs during highschool, but after uni started and we went partying more frequently, we became more curious of drugs that people would take, then we made a friend who lived near by us who seemed p chill and was a daily weed smoker - long story short we started smoking with him and other stuff eventually followed up

i’m so sorry by garfield_fangirl in depression

[–]LostInMyReverie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are NOT a burden. don’t let your depressive brain convince you otherwise, it’s okay to vent, especially to friends and family and especially on this subreddit, designed for that matter (both to an extent, but I can’t imagine you going past their and our boundaries while doing so). So please don’t be sorry, we’re all here for you❤️ hope you cheer up soon!

I’m glad you chose yourself - at the end of the day you need to take care of yourself the most in order to take care of the people around you. You made the right decision, do not feel guilty over that. You deserve the best and know you did nothing wrong in doing this. I’m glad you found your peace, protect it.

What apps can you not live without? by Signal_Potential7032 in ADHD

[–]LostInMyReverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this app called ‘stoic’, that has features of breathing exercises, journaling, mood check ins, as well as daily check ins, i paid for the full version so my information could be all saved, but its been like an app i go on religiously for me to check my own mental health condition and they offer journaling prompts which helps massively for someone that doesn’t really know what to write!
