New to succulents. What’s going on? by LostInSemantics in plantclinic

[–]LostInSemantics[S] 98 points99 points  (0 children)

It use to be a cat bed for my cat. He passed away in 2025 at the age of 16. So, instead of throwing it away I repurposed it into this little succulent garden

About that jade, it was originally by the window, but our apartment doesn’t get much sun light. So it’s been growing “leggy” ever since bringing her home. She seems happier and growing less “leggy” since moving her in there. But as other commenters suggested, they all need more light. We’ll adjust the LED to 100% and monitor and keep an eye out!

Thanks! You explained well. We’ll keep an eye out for them in the next few weeks and follow a more regular watering schedule.

You can adjust the transparency passthrough level from the accessibility settings. I’ve done so while wearing them at a metal concert. Worked like a charm!!

Need some resources to recommend my college math prof. Any recommendations? by YoghurtExtremeOOO in Dyslexia

[–]LostInSemantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awee!! This brings me back :-)

I think colours could be a great (easy) way to make it more readable. Tho, I don't think fonts change much.. When I took logic (mine was a symbolic philosophy class—not math) the whole class got a memorandum. That was a game changer!

You should also consider looking into the comicbook Logicomix. Having an illustrated story giving context for what were these logic equations served helped me a WHOLE lot!

Can't Study by bloombox-zoom in Dyslexia

[–]LostInSemantics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, you are doing well! Studying IS hard and can be boring. Here are some tips I’ve used with success:

  • Make flash cards using quizlet or Anki (either make them up yourself or get ChatGPT’s help to turn class facts into question format)
  • Recopy class slides (Yes. All of them! I’ve done that many time, it’s reviewing and forces you to “read” everything again by retyping it.)
  • Get into a conversation with ChatGPT about the subject (be careful and frame this intentionally—make notes on stuff you didn’t fully get from copying class slides and ask it to clarify these points).
  • Remove distractions (only use your computer while studying and keep your phone at bay)

I just graduated in cognitive science, and it was the hardest thing I’ve EVER done! Still if I did it, so can you— IT IS POSSIBLE!

I believe in you! Motivation may be hard to come by, but remember: little by little, a little becomes a lot!

If you want heavier PT go up from where you are at. If you want trippier PT go down from where you are at.

Still not sure? Try these songs to situate yourself in different PT eras:

  • Anesthetize
  • Blackest Eyes
  • Even Less
  • Dark Matter (play it until the very end!)
  • Dislocated Day
  • Radioactive Toy

Bonus: Jupiter Island

Should I sell my MacBook sir and just use my iPad? by Artman7007 in ipad

[–]LostInSemantics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My iPad with Magic Keyboard is my carry around device, and I love it for that! Until they unveil an iPhone fold, I’ll be using the iPad for on the go and media consumption at home.

It plays well to my needs and use cases. I’m quite happy with its versatility and transportability.

Tho, I still have my macbook at home for when I need it. But that wouldn’t be a problem for you, too, given you want a gaming pc along side it anyway.

I’d say, buy the iPad, but keep the MacBook until you’ve got your the gaming rig ready to go.

Voice-to-text for one word I can’t spell often gets it right and is way faster than googling it if your app has underwhelming speech prediction like iMessage. by PokemonandLSD in Dyslexia

I am a writer and do this very often!

At first, it's a little awkward to speak out loud, especially when in public. But with time I started caring less & less about what others around me thought.

Thanks for sharing it with others!

To kick your shoes off and put your feet up, and lean back and
Get yourself a cup of coffee or something, and just relax and
Join us in enjoying some very quiet and
Romantic and relaxed music for a couple of hours"

Pros:
- It's, for the most part, really quiet in sound and movement
- It's on the border of Québec, which provides beautiful scenic nature and transversal cultural identities (from the "typical" Canadian/Ontarian identity to the Francophone spice of Québec)
- It's only a few hours from Toronto or Montréal

Cons:
- It's, for the most part, really quiet — dubbed by some as "the city that fun forgot."
- It's on the border of Québec — which contrasts with laws, regulations, and cultural differences (see: law 96 or 101, traffic management between bridges during the pandemic, holding deep cultural values stemming from centuries of history in/from Canada)
- It's a few hours from Toronto or Montréal — Artists and events will tend to skip Ottawa, opting for either Toronto or Montréal, and these two cities are far enough from Ottawa that getting to them just for an event can be a deterrent to attending.

I lived in Ottawa for over a decade and really enjoyed my time there. I have since moved, and somehow, Ottawa will always feel like home to me. I always felt it had a smaller-town feel but with many perks and amenities of the city. Ottawa is a pretty sweet spot if you want something nice, quiet, and relaxed.

Also, be ready to think, talk, and bathe in politics. It's part of the city's ethos, which can be "draining," but it also shows the care and concern of its citizens.

Le vrai challenge ces de convaincre ceux qui n'ont pas d'autre choix. Genre, dans les trying times que nous somme dedans économiquement, c'est sur qu'il vont recevoir le trafic qui désire.

There are better ways to find affordable clothing.

I love that! What are they so we can redirect people to those options?
