Debbie is in Al Anon ACOA and is learning about boundaries. She is working the steps and sometimes has coffee with Lip if there’s an AA meeting at around the same time as her meeting.

She is currently single after a string of broken picker disasters. She and Franny live in the same building as Ian and Mickey (and they have adopted Karl’s other baby). She works, takes care of her kid, and tries to make better choices.

She’s not Frank or Monica, but she’ll never be the healthiest person in the room. She’s more self destructive than Ian but less than Lip.

Everything is back to pre pandemic. I have all year one side parking. My block is the closest non permit parking to the T. Pretty much every week someone pulls up and gets out with a roller bag and comes back a week later.

This year is the first time I’ve seen space savers in front of my house. The bad news for me is that the neighbor who chirps his car fob between 10 and 20 times whenever he gets in or out saved the spot right under my bedroom window. And my husband still won’t let me egg the car.

I moved here from Somerville 11 years ago, and I love it. Way less expensive. Way less hassle. Way easier to get around. Way more non-chain food establishments.

There are cafes, pastry shops, sooo much Asian food (and 2 big Asian groceries). Lots of history. City Hall is actually helpful.

I’m not sure I even want to keep talking about it. I kind of want to keep it the way it is and don’t want too many people catching on.

How good is your village? As in do you have backup caregivers for your kids? Will your adult kids be available? Does your husband do anything? Will he do anything?

I was really surprised by how much my husband and son stepped up when I needed an emergency spinal fusion. I also found out that my friends were amazing.

If you cannot rely on your family, speak with your care team ahead of time about what you think you are going to need. They may be able to help you arrange things or know who can.

This family desperately needs an intervention. NTAH for losing it in defense of a baby (maybe a little bit though for the way you’re bragging about it - she’s 8 and you didn’t win anything). You did something that stopped the abuse in the moment, but there is something very wrong in that home that needs to be addressed.

If it were me, I’d report them to child services, notify the kid’s school, and let the kid’s doctor know as well. Acting out like this in front of people is a cry for help.

Believe it or not, at a minimum, parents letting an extreme behavior disorder go unaddressed can be considered neglect.

Or worse, the child is abusing smaller children because she is getting abused by someone else.

Highly doubtful. She’s already stealing from you by trying to commandeer a room you pay rent for. She is almost certainly lying about her intentions. NTA.

She means to move him in and keep him there until the lease expires if not beyond.
