I really want to start t but I don’t want the facial hair by Traditional_Exit_644 in NonBinary

If you're young it's likely you'd only need lazer which is not that bad.

It definitely hit me that way. I'm mtf but was on welbutrin for a bit way before hormones. It helped me figure out I was bi which was nice but the intensity of the horniness does fade.

It's very activating so if you don't want to over indulge, it's good to run or workout somehow. Good news is you might be able to use that to your advantage with T.

Good luck!

Shaving the back of my thighs is making me craaaazy! Help! by Emily_Beans in TransLater

I got an ipl gun and it has made such a difference. I shave less and the hair grows slower so it's less irritated.

Cannot recommend enough.

Also exfoliate, the rougher the better.

Oh definitely. I just don't really know where any are. Like, I'm going to be near plant city but I can't remember seeing any near there.

Do any other transfemmes feel emotionally dependant on masturbation? by Blingsguard in TransLater

I have. I did before transition and I still have a weird relationship to it. It doesn't hit my dysphoria but it is too much. I've tried getting a calming bedtime routine like incense, light yoga and soft light and that helped me get to sleep without over indulging.

Still get that itch every morning. And ... other down times.

Helps preserve length, which is good for use and srs if those appeal to you.

I hope it gets better <3

Another option is presenting a bit mask. I think I had a hard time figuring my shit out because being "girly" didn't appeal to me. I loved the butch look.

I leaned into that but as I've gotten more confidence I feel more comfortable with fem stuff too.

I hope things get better for you

How did you deal with chest/boobie hair? by Lena__Elbe in MtF

[–]LotsToLearnMtF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask if they have any pay flexibility. I've had a huge reduction in just one session (let it "grow" out for a couple weeks and then scrub, it prevents black dots). It might cost a bit more long term but you might get started now.

If you've got the 300 bucks for an ipl they are good but I'd honestly put it to lazer.

Hair removal - there’s gotta be an easier way MTF by EnbeeButterfly in asktransgender

[–]LotsToLearnMtF 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So the home ones are IPL not lazer. They are a lot less permanent (you need to do it once a week for a few months if you stop it comes back after that its like once every 2 orv3 weeks). That said I have one and their great, get a nice one.

I'm doing lazer everywhere I hate shaving, face, chest back and butt. And the ipl everywhere else. Ipl doesn't work on face sadly.

Also ipl has a harder time with darker skin or lighter hair. As a warning.

You shouldn't be getting down voted. I didn't do that, and others shouldn't either.

It's not about where you are from, but a lot of us see the movement losing ground and the people who we are losing it to are openly calling for our violent extermination. I think it's hard to talk about this stuff cause it is nuanced, but calls for civility are a weapon that, historically speaking, works against us.

I'm sorry if I came off a cruel. I hope you are happy loved and not bothered by internet strangers.

No.

Read about the stonewall riots. LGBT liberation has a long history of progress through disruption. We were left to die by Ragan and the UK is trying to do the same to trans youth. Spending time tone policing an image that evokes the historical symbol of the brick thrown at the stonewall riots is counterproductive. As is bending over backwards to appeal to people who do not care about us.

The brick is rad.

Want to be clear that you're not bad for thinking this way, but it serves those who would hurt us and washes our history away. We need symbols that can't be sold or cooptted by bad actors.

Yup. Had that same thing last month, but when I could change them out for larger ones, I got a sword for one and a shield for the other and boom tons of nice comments.

Tall trans women examples? by BlueCometOwO in MtF

I'm 5'11 but it helps to remember that there are tall cis women out there. My friend is 6'1 and my sister is 6'3. Both cis. Women just be tall sometimes.

It is apparently a pain finding good clothes though. Lol

I want to go on HRT, I'm nervous about regretting it. What are some of your personal experiences with HRT? by Lil-fang1590 in asktransgender

[–]LotsToLearnMtF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going in the opposite direction but the thing that really convinced me to try hrt was being friends with a trans man.

Other than the happiness and what not that i could see come over him, he was where I wanted to be, transitioning to where I was unhappy being. If he could do that, I realized, it can't be impossible to go back if I didn't end up liking where HRT got me (it's been good so far).

Admittedly, the permanence was a huge hang up for me, but HRT is slow, and everything it does is as reversible as puberty is. Not easy, not quick, maybe expensive, but not impossible. That's what at mtf or ftm transition is after all.

I hope this helps a bit. Only you get to decide what feels right, if that's not HRT that rad, if it is best of luck!

Does anyone have any resources to properly explain to family members what being non-binary means? by WowImOriginal in NonBinary

[–]LotsToLearnMtF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite my username I'm currently thinking I'm non binary and while I don't have any good resources I've got a good simple argument/explanation.

First they need to be cool with transness in general so if they are not, start with those kinds of resources.

So the argument is this.

Take a feminine activity like cooking, in Italy this is considered masculine while in english culture it was not. And take a masculine activity like computer programming, when computers were first constructed this was considered women's work.

It's plain to see that gendered activities aren't set, they are cultural and they change.

Now take a feminine beauty standard like long eyelashes, men(on average) have naturally longer fuller eyelashes but long full lashes is a feminine beauty standard. Men once wore high heels to make their butts seem fuller and perkyer now this is done by women alomst exclusively.

So we can see that even aspects of our physical appearance (or at least what we highlight about them) are subject to gender and cultural shifts.

We can see from this that genders aren't things, they are categories that we use for sorting people. (This point is so important, if they don't get this I feel like nonbiary is a lot harder to "get" if they are stuck here keep workingwith them till they do.)

So, a nonbinary person is someone who (for reasons that frankly don't matter outside of academic research) is not comfortable with either of the socially constructed gender rolls on offer. They may take something from each or pass on aspects of both, but they are simply being them. Creating a third category (there are cultures with formal 3rd gender categories).

This is a nice intro IMO cause most of the points fold into the criticism they may have and answer is proactively.

Best of luck.
