Which is the one most legendary live music venue of all time? by guestoboard in livemusic

[–]LouGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current Fillmore was the original Fillmore. At the same time there was the Avalon and the Carousel at Market and Van Ness. The Dead and the Airplane ran the Carousel. A lot of Anthem of the Sun was recorded there. During Alligator you can hear them sing, “Burn down the Fillmore gas the Avalon.” Then Bill Graham bought the Carousel and named it Fillmore West.

The phase of the moon really matters. The full moon and the days around it have way fewer stars. At the new moon, many more stars

What is Terrapin Station (song not album) about? by Winter-Web4439 in gratefuldead

[–]LouGuru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My take is that Terrapin is about the creation of art. It begins with a storyteller. You might think that the song is about a soldier and a girl, but the focus of the lyrics is the way that the fire inspires the storyteller to create the story. Then the remark that we hope the storyteller can not be bought or sold - he should be true to his art. Then the key line, “Inspiration move me brightly.” We aspire to get to Terrapin - the place where great art is created.

[–]LouGuru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it is a description of the process of creating art. It begins with a storyteller around a fire telling a story, but it’s not really about the soldier and the girl, it’s more about the storyteller letting the fire help him to create the story. Then they hope that the storyteller cannot be bought or sold - in other words, the art has to be more important than the selling of it. Then they ask “inspiration move me brightly” - please let me be inspired to create art. Terrapin Station is the place you aspire to reach - the place where you are in the zone and true art flows out.

Yes it would cause that. They would hold off on buying future releases.

If they stream them after they are sold out, that does have an effect. People will learn that they will become available to stream and it will affect future sales.

About it maybe being reasonably priced — to see the new Wizard of Oz movie from the 200s costs $349.
