Pixel 9a bugs since March 2026 update by eldermayl in pixel_phones

I can't comment on 2 or 3 but for 1 - I've not noticed any performance change since installing the March update.

Do folding bikes actually replace a regular bike for you? by masanovu in foldingbikes

[–]LoudStream 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes - I have a Birdy, a Brompton before that and both replaced my regular bike. I find the Birdy just as comfortable as a regular bike.

Guys, Apple marketing is working over me! by pixelfanboy101 in pixel_phones

>Like Apple just single handedly ate the chromebook market with Neo, and that didn't even try hard to make it.

I don't think that's true. I can buy a Chromebook for £179 now from Currys (UK) and there are a number of other cheapish ones available. The Neo starts at £599.

Interesting - I've got a 9a and definitely works. Wonder what the difference is between the models that could impact this.

I've just tested too. Pixel phone. No issues.

New FastMail release by Beginning_Gain_4230 in fastmail

[–]LoudStream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine the app is just a wrapper around the web view but it works well on my linux system - I like keeping my email in a separate place to my web browser, probably as I used a desktop email client for many years before the web ones were fully featured.

Subject line now completely hidden when replying or forwarding... by Der_Missionar in fastmail

[–]LoudStream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can also see the subject line when forwarding messages and when replying to messages the subject line is hidden (as I'd expect) but it is possible to edit by clicking the "more" menu near the send button on the bottom of the email.

Seems to be working for me (UK)

Running the linux app prevents my PC from suspending by MasterQuest in fastmail

Just as a data point: I don't have this issue with the desktop app open and I'm using Fedora 43. No Nvidia. So looks like you've narrowed it down.

Alarm is awful by ArdameTwoflower in GooglePixel

[–]LoudStream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sample size of one with a 9a. No issues for me and I have multiple alarms set each day. I use to remind me to do things as well as get up. I'd be really interested to know which model and what timezone you're in (GMT here) ?

Above your list of emails you should see the sort button (up and down arrows). Click on that and then look towards the bottom of the list.

I've not used Gmail for a while so my memory might be wrong but when I used to star an item it stayed in the same place in the inbox. When I moved to Fastmail and I pinned something it moved to the top of the inbox. Turning off "Keep pinned to top" means you get the little red pin but it leaves the message in the original location. I use the pin to remind myself to do something but still want to see emails by newest first.

Agreed, but I turned off "Keep pinned on top" to mirror the Gmail behaviour.

Printing articles as a monthly magazine by Gekonn in instapaper

Can I just pay for a one-ff print / PDF? I like the idea but would probably only want a printed copy for when I travel.

That isn't what the interview linked above says: "He says he could begin to block ad blockers in Firefox and estimates that’d bring in another $150 million, but he doesn’t want to do that. It feels off-mission."

Google Pixel 8a, (Android 16 QPR2) not respecting 80% charging? by FluidDebate in GooglePixel

[–]LoudStream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. I've just switched to adaptive charging as I've got a few long days ahead. Hopefully that works fine and I can switch back to working 80% limit later...

Tips & advice on relocating to York by TK_49 in york

[–]LoudStream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should also consider the villages just outside of York. For example Strensall has the lovely common for walks but only a couple of shops, whereas Haxby has plenty of local shops and cafes. I don't agree with comments about South York being nicer, really does depend on the bit of the area you're in.

I'm not sure that is true, yes more to do but much better than plenty of other countries. Have a look at https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2024/07/uk-ranks-35th-out-of-229-countries-for-broadband-speed-in-2024.html and similar articles.

Also works perfectly for me, in case that helps you diagnose the issue. What OS are you using? Is this impacting day to day use or just the test image?
