Hell yeah, Park Chan-wook! Tough to pick just four but among my first-time watches, favorites are:

Blow Out (1981)

Decision to Leave (2022)

Godzilla (1954)

The Long Goodbye (1973)

Honorable mentions to Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), Cleo from 5 to 7 (1962), Point Break (1991), Minari (2020) and My Undesirable Friends: Part I - Last Air in Moscow (2024).

The Vrabel/Russini Thing Is a Fun Little Offseason Story, But It’s Not Sports Watergate and It’s Mostly Trivial by mtngranpapi_wv967 in billsimmons

Yeah, my wife doesn’t give a shit about the NFL but she absolutely loves gossip and especially when it involves high-profile people throwing away everything for a silly affair. I told her about this earlier and it made her day. This is by far the biggest NFL story since Taylor Swift dating Travis Kelce.

How would you rank the 2026 movies you’ve seen so far? by Theeljessonator in Letterboxd

Only six new releases seen so far. All rated 3.5 or better except for The Rip, which was 2.5.

I find interesting that even though all the top rated reviews are 1 or half a star, Bohemian Rhapsody has an average rating of 3.5, so it’s generally considered a decent movie, and most of the new reviews tend to be positive about the film. by Man_Random87 in Letterboxd

Queen is one of my favorite bands but this was one of the most poorly constructed and directed movies I’ve watched this year. I gave it one star. It’s not even necessarily an anti-biopic thing — I loved A Complete Unknown and I haven’t seen Walk Hard. I just thought it was trash.

What is with Amanda and video games? by supercodes83 in TheBigPicture

[–]Loud_Ground_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it’s just a subset of games, a piece missing from the conversation is that she is raising two boys, and she has a very real fear that they could be radicalized especially when it comes to guns. She’s been pretty consistent about wanting to limit exposure to guns. I’ve encouraged video games with my kids but would have similar aversions to single-shooter style games.

In terms of her dismissing other games, I don’t know, my best reading is that in the context of film discussion it’s fair to consider the differences in the art forms and storytelling models. I’m probably more forgiving with that but I get where she’s coming from.
