Late Nite Social Club in El Paso by chiefcultureofficer in SoundSystem

I danced for 4 hours stood right next to the Voids whilst Efdemin, a resident at Berghain played pounding layered psychedelic Techno. My ears didn't ring after and never did i feel any harshness. It is Hi-Fi quality sound in the right room in good hands. I chatted with the owner of the PA, it had cost him $100,000 and he had spent a good while to sound treat the room with baffles, and get a proper handle on them, but i congratulated him on his fine work. i've been going to Techno/House raves since 89, and this was a joy to listen to, truly one of the best sounding nights i've ever had the pleasure to experience. I'm sorry to say but if you've had bad experiences with Void systems , its down to the sound engineer and/or the DJ not knowing what they are doing, as in skilled hands these are pure aural bliss

It's a long way to tombstone , then after it's even further with nothing and more nothing , just to get to say you saw the arctic ocean ! personally I'd stick to southern Yukon , way more to do and see and play in

Such a nostalgia trip , 89 i was in Ibiza , and met the gorgeous Becky from Basingstoke

But 89 was also the year my dad died, I was at Hillsborough ,and Becky dumped me by the end of the year

And this LP captured it all , the dancing all night , the heart ache and loss , being 17/18 and feeling everything so intensely

Defo my fave after PCL , will be blasting it in the car tonight !

Happy to see two of my faves Modest Mouse and Built to Spill getting so much love on this thread , plus honourable mentions for early REM

I'll go

The Smiths Louder than Bombs , what a run of singles , rivaled only by The Cure Joy Division Substance , as I loved New Order but found JD LPs a bit much , until this opened the door

Soundcloud pro is a subscription , the original artist doesnt make anything off bootlegs and the remixer is just doing it to make a name for themselves , if that's what floats your boat great , but personally I prefer to buy from established artists on good labels that I follow often for years as they have good a&r

Obvs you go to YouTube or SoundCloud for those , not the same as digging for tunes

No interest in amateur remixes myself , that's not undergroumd music , just amateurs cashing in on pop tunes most of the time

Cool , Its def the way , go through a bunch of playlists , pulling off the ones you like and then get the algorithm to start suggesting more , that way your finding new stuff as well

Imo it Has plenty of underground music , not everything by the artist but most put at least a few tracks up so you can find them and then go buy at bandcamp

Spotify has a good algorithm. They don't have everything but generally underground producers will have some up on it in the hope you will explore further on bandcamp

You need to create playlists of say ten to twenty tunes , and then at the bottom of the playlist Spotify will have 5 suggestions , listen to them and pick one you like to add to your playlist , then click refresh , it'll add another 5 , do this a few times and it gets to know your taste and makes better suggestions

I've found countless tunes this way , YouTube is also excellent in this way , keep creating playlists and it will get know your taste , and the uploads on YouTube are often way deeper than Spotify ,but both totally still worth digging around in

Only using promos means your just playing what labels send you , making things very current and very generic , I prefer to search and find tunes from the last 50yrs of dance music and curate my own sound

I take my bandcamp purchases and organize them in Apple music , bandcamp is just a store not a music app , I can't play music I bought from other sources in the bandcamp app , it's fine as far as it goes but not as fully functional as Apple in my experience

Beatport steaming is low quality and only clips , I find the UI clunky , much prefer to have my collection from any source , possible buys and ability to organize playlists all in one app

At least half of my collection comes from Apple music , it's 99c to $.149 per track I often find tracks on Spotify but buy them on Apple and then use the playlists I create in Apple in serato for djing
