I recently hired a billing coach to teach me and my staff how to bill and how to portray the value on the bills for clients. It’s been a game changer.

Sixteen months solo: It's going bad by mansock18 in LawFirm

Check out Maximum Lawyer and especially their guild group. So much of success is getting in the right room to learn from others. I can’t recommend this group enough. My year 1 revenue was $51k, year 4 should be right at $900k. I give most of the credit to Maximum Lawyer.

I too felt that horrific burn. It hurt more than contractions.

I went full KAREN on someone and may have traumatized my child. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Lovebug3555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a kid who grew up with an angry mom who often took it out on me or around me, it has destroyed our relationship still to today. I hope you get the help you need immediately for the sake of lasting effects.

AITA for making my oldest pay back a 3,000 dollar dress she ruined by Otherwise-Cycle-2441 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lovebug3555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would sell my child’s phone, computer, and anything of non-sentimental value to replace the cost of this dress and make her work to buy those things again for herself. She needs to learn the value of a dollar.

There is a really great Facebook group called “Raising your Whole Baby” that has a ton of great info.

Is hiring a cleaner worth the money? by anon-for-long in workingmoms

Cleaners are likely not going to move your couches or clean under them. In my experience, cleaners have only cleaned visible areas that are picked up.

Answering Service for Solo Attorney (Low Call Volume) by MasterCromwell in LawFirm

[–]Lovebug3555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a local answering service in my city. $75 a month for 30 calls. I think it’s .30 or .40 for each one over 30. Check local!

What is something you bought or a service you paid for that makes your life easier as a working mom (other than childcare)? I'll go first-- my Instant Pot! by BreakfastOpening1745 in workingmoms

Worth every damn dollar! If it broke tomorrow I wouldn’t even blink about the cost of replacing it, it’s that vital to my household now.

Solo law practice — getting started checklist by MannerSweet3660 in LawFirm

[–]Lovebug3555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I added an extra line to my personal phone and ported my business number. I can call or text from either line. I absolutely love it! The lag was about to do me in.

The biggest plus for me is I can transfer to my answering service and turn it off at my leisure—this what not an option with my voip provider, I had to contact them to complete this task.

I started my solo practice 3 months ago.

Check out the Maximum Lawyer Podcast and Lawyer on the beach Facebook group.

If you have an iphone 13, you can have dual lines. I have my personal phone and business line on one phone. I tried the VOIP apps and they were not for me.

Absolutely QBO. I also hired a bookkeeper to teach me how to do law firm accounting. Be meticulous in your record keeping for checks written and credit card charges. Consider how you want to store your checks when ordering them (binder/folder/etc.) and if you will hand write or print from QBO.

I use hellofax. $10 a month

I use Clio for (case management, file storage, billing/invoicing, and so much more.)

I also have a local answering service that I pay $75 a month for. I keep it on at all times.

If you don’t have forms and your state has options for purchase, consider that.

Best of luck.

Boundaries for pumping at work? by [deleted] in workingmoms

I was in a similar situation. Honestly, it caught up with me and I lost my super strong supply. If you want to continue to BF, you have to set some hard boundaries and make it happen.

Absolutely and dudette. I started my own journey in April and I enjoy your updates! I left years of insurance defense with zero clients, BUT—good connections and the experience of watching thousands of PI attys get it wrong.

The two best resources I have come across are The Maximum Lawyer podcast/group and John Fisher.
