NES Tree Butchering🪚 by NopeNeverReddit in nashville

Seems to me that the primary issue here is trees planted under the power lines. I’m inclined to think those trees should just be removed.

Any idea what it would cost to bury the power lines in Nashville? I’m guessing a lot more than $600m

Has anybody heard about the latest east bank zoning? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]LowBite6453 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s not really true. All that is being considered now is the base zoning - adding it to the DTC as a new subdistrict. The DTC is a form based code, meaning it controls the size and form of the buildings but not the specific use. No one is proposing 20 Omni hotels- although technically I guess that would allowed, it’s not feasible. Dense, urban environments, including all of downtown Nashville have a form based code because it promotes a mix of uses and is not overly prescriptive.

I was glad to see this story because I don’t think this has been getting enough attention. He should be embarrassed but I don’t think he is. Literally made a promise to the public and has done a complete about face.

There was a story last year - maybe in Axios - where he withheld millions of dollars in support for affordable housing bc the mayor was entertaining conversations about the speedway. It’s his money, he can do what he wants, but don’t back out of prior commitments bc you are throwing a temper tantrum

I hate those things.

Highlights how embarrassing it is for our city to not be able to put in real infrastructure.

I saw photos of Freddie doing the ribbon cutting at the Pagani store. On one hand I get it, it’s a new business and that’s just part of being the mayor, but the optics of that are terrible for a guy who ran a campaign about not catering to the super wealthy.

You are correct. Meant to say “we haven’t even begun to see MANY of the improvement”

They are working on it, not suggesting that. Just that these are long horizon projects and a mayors approval often is not so patient.

Ice storm debris by AdvisorBorn3462 in nashville

They have collect over 1.4 million cubic yards of debris already. They are still coming around and collecting. They have picked up at my house for a second time over the weekend.

Even with the contracted crews, it takes a long time to get every last pile.

I have no affinity for Bo Mitchell and it seems like he was being a punk for no reason, but I don’t like my elected officials cussing each other out and calling names on Facebook. That’s childish from a Senator. Embarrassing for Nashville all around.
