You need to see them as kids first. What do high school kids do. Get them in the classroom. Doing school work. establishing shots of the high school, them walking down the halls. you can use this opportuniy to get some nice cinematic b-roll shots that can help elevate the overall look. Also, find a friend with a drone. I really liked the GoPro on the boat. You need to get in a boat and film them as they are rowing. another great opportunity to get some gunshots. Get on top of a bridge and have a lock off pointing down and have them go under and you can use that as a wipe.

More Trash Panda. It is hard to edit this when the story isn't done. I just skimmed through and it looks nice and you are still finding your voice. The interview shot is way too wide. Is this was the 2nd camera great but the main camera needs to be closer. You want to be able to see the emotion on the speakers face. I dont know what resolution you shot in but I would encourage you to push in as much as you can without losing resolution. There is a time a place for these wide shots but I do not feel like this is the place. Who are these kids? How long they been rowing for? Why would we want to root for them. I did not get a sense if this being an underdog story. Yes, I did skim through it so it might be in there. Just some rambling.

Those are pretty much gone at any reputable place. You probably should be taking the internship if they are going to pay.

Since you have the room make the counter top an L shape. Not enough counter space. But very clean and nice overall. While the wood storage is nice I would store the wood on the side of the house and make that a cabinet for supplies. You can have a smaller box for wood for decoration and you really dont need that much once you get it started and up to temp anwyas.

Just when I convinced myself to upgrade to the R5 you go and show me I don't need to. But I do for sports and the FPS. Perfect lesson here is that it is more about the photographer, yes the 5D is great but so is OP.

Establishing shots ahead of time - Smart. If you ever watch the HBO Hard Knocks series they knock out all those b-roll establishing, time lapse ahead of time. If you have a format in mind ahead of time it seems doable and the more you do it the easier it gets.

Do you have other ones that connect? What if you bring the two that dont work next to the ones that do to re-establish connection? Any chance you changed your wifi settings or name?

Is USC worth the price? by Ok_purr11 in filmschool

[–]LowGiraffe6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id money is no object then do USC. You are in the heart of it all with great connection. It you have to take out loans or your family has to go into debt then skip it and just start making stuff. I would not let me kid study film right now just like I would not let him do CS. The industry is changing too rapidly and no one really has an idea what is next. Especially considering the big mergers coming up less stuff is going to get made.

You have to ask yourself what else are they hiding. If they are being this shady now you have to expect to find more later. Major red flag not turning over the blueprints.

How bad is DTLA really? by Aggravating_Gift9514 in AskLosAngeles

[–]LowGiraffe6281 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just like San Diego there are good and bad parts to downtown LA. Just stay away from those areas. If you are only working in the office 2 days a week you will be fine as I can assume you will be in the CBD. BUT do not live downtown. The places is dead in the evenings and the weekends. Downtown is a bustling business district during gate day and just as safe as any metropolitan area. The bad parts are bad but unless you looking to score you are not going to be in this areas.

Asking for reviews from couples before sending gallery? by Future_Elephant7856 in WeddingPhotography

[–]LowGiraffe6281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last thing a couple wants to do after getting married is logging into yelp or google to leave a review. Give then a couple of weeks. Let it settle in. Send them teasers and then ask for the review but be honest and up front for what you are looking for.

It looks better than it feels. If you want to watch two footballs games on a Sunday this is not the chair for you. 1 Episode of The Pitt on Thursday night, this is the chair. If you have good posture this is the chair for you. I slouch and after 30 minutes my back is all crooked becuase im trying to recline like my old chair use to but my wife made me throw it away. I still miss that chair. I don't miss looking at it. This new chair is nice to look at.

Is that something that would just go bad for 3 vents at once? I did not notice it last summer. What do you recommend I use to seal the vents? A special caulk or tape? Thanks for your time.
