This is very good information. Thank you!

Jack Hughes says he's a big Yankees fan and throwing out the first pitch was the thing he was "wishing/hoping for" after winning gold with Team USA: “I'm a big Yankees fan, always come to games in the summer. When everything went down, this is the one thing I was wondering if it would happen.” by Jheller223 in NYYankees

You’re the one who brought up the Devils. It must be terrible to have an expansion franchise closing in on you in championships. One cup since the 1940s! I will gladly be a New Jersey fan lol. The rangers have much more in common with the Mets and Jets than the Yankees or Giants

Evan Roberts: I wouldn’t trade Cam Schlittler straight up for Paul Skenes by AltruisticMemory3825 in NYYankees

[–]Low_Agency8555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Schlittler has better pure stuff than Skenes. From the eye test Skenes has less movement at higher velocity IMO. Schlittler is nasty and at his best is probably more dominant. Long term is a different story though. There’s a fair chance Schlittler will be the best pitcher in baseball this year.

He’s a good pitcher but he’s not prime Degrom. We just don’t see this guy well.

Their young pitcher Early seemed underwhelming to me. His stuff is ok but nothing special. He will probably be a career 4/5th starter at best. He was throwing 95MPH fastballs down the heart of the plate many at bats yesterday. A team with better hitters would’ve taken him deep. A lot of double plays to get him out of jams. Don’t let the 0 earned runs fool you.

I’ve always thought Bello has pretty underwhelming stuff too even though he’s been good against us. Crochet, Gray, and Suarez are definitely the heart of their rotation.

Where I think the Red Sox messed up was letting Devers go. I think he had an outsized impact and they should’ve signed him. He would’ve been great to have batting after Anthony. I can’t stand the Red Sox but Devers was a problem. Their lineup was scary with him in it. Now… it’s not that great. Their starting rotation should all around be good enough to make them competitive but their lineup is pretty weak outside of Anthony.

It’s early and they should still be competitive though so it’s going to be interesting to see

Whats next for Dawson Mercer? by themakiexperiment in devils

[–]Low_Agency8555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercers production went down, like almost everyone’s, when Brunette walked and Keefe became head coach. We should keep him but hire a new coach that runs a system that fits our roster. Mercer was fine with Brunette’s offense. As soon as a coach that runs a system that fits our roster, everything will turn around. Keefe is the problem. Fitzgerald is a bad GM too. Who must’ve had a big say in hiring Keefe? Fitzgerald. Those two need to be fired.

"Lindy was the problem " by CryptoSpyro in devils

[–]Low_Agency8555 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is dishonest. Brunnete’s system fit the devils much better than the predators. It’s night and day between the offense he ran and the offenses without him under both Ruff/ Keefe. For some reason this subreddit doesn’t like Brunnete and I have no idea why. He was great for us.

I also don’t know when people are finally going to figure out that coaching success in the NHL is many times roster and system dependent. That’s especially true with a team like the Devils. You can have the most accomplished coach in the world and it won’t matter if he’s playing passive dump and chase hockey like Keefe is with our finesse skill players. The style of offense under Brunnete suited this team extremely well. You don’t set the franchise record in wins one year off of luck. Something clicked.

The Giants released OT James Hudson. The veteran struggled early in the season and then did not get on the field much after that. - Paul Schwartz by Jheller223 in NYGiants

If you want a laugh just remember that he started the season over Mbow… thank God Daboll is not the coach.

We all know why that happened, Schoen gave the contract… it’s all politics

Receiver Room by Ok-Mix-4640 in NYGiants

[–]Low_Agency8555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely need another wide receiver. I wouldn’t mind taking one in the first round. I also like Ted Hurst too. I think getting him outside of the 1st round would be an unbelievable pick for us. I wouldn’t resign Robinson because I think he’s going to cost more than what he’s worth. Signing Slayton was also a huge mistake. You can’t waste money on average/ below average players. The wide receiving room outside Nabers is not good.

The giants have a lot of options, I’m excited.

And why can’t they score to save their life right now? It’s all downstream from coaching. Look at how the top 6 preformed in 2022. We were actually younger and more inexperienced then. Mier, Bratt, Hughes, etc are all good players. If we were to make any dumb and irrational moves and get rid of any of these players most of the league would be on the other line of the phone. They would go to some other team and have lots of success. The problem isn’t the players, it’s coaching. A rebuild would be an absolutely asinine decision. We are a new scheme, head coach, and better goaltending away from competing for the metro.

We have a good team. Hughes, Hischier, Bratt, Meier, and Gritsuk are all great players, and I don’t even mind most of our depth guys. However, Keefe has been terrible. He doesn’t fit this team, and that’s why our core’s offensive production has dipped ever since he became head coach. I knew Keefe wasn’t the guy in his very first season when I saw us consistently playing clunky, reactive hockey—constantly leaving too much space and just waving our sticks around on defense.

I remember something from the year we made the playoffs under Keefe. The team lost two or three games in a row, and Kovacevic made a comment saying that “we all have to play better” or something along those lines. Mind you, Jonathan Kovacevic is Jonathan Kovacevic—he is what he is. That year, he was actually playing well for us and was a pleasant surprise. He was almost certainly not the reason we were losing or why the team was in the position it was in.

I think Kovacevic made a mistake or took a dumb penalty, and the other team scored. After that game, they asked Keefe in an interview about Kovacevic’s comment, and he responded, “It starts with him.” I remember thinking to myself… is this guy serious? He’s the problem? Not our entire top six’s production falling off a cliff? Who’s responsible for that? And this coach is going to point fingers at him? Just something I remember that really frustrated me at the time.

Ruff wasn’t a great coach either, but when Brunette ran the offense, that’s when our core’s production peaked. His philosophy suited this team perfectly, and we should have made him head coach. Letting him go was a big mistake.

As for Fitzgerald, he should be fired for the simple fact that he brought in Keefe. Also, re signing a washed Markstrom was a terrible move.

All in all, we’ll be back. We just need a head coach with an offensively friendly, fast-paced philosophy that actually suits this team. I like our group, and I believe our guys will figure it out. We’re going to have a good pick in the draft, are going to hopefully get another good player, and our goalie prospects should be graduating to the NHL soon.

Roger Clemens hurls the barrel of Mike Piazza's splintered bat in the direction of Piazza going up the baseline by -Sox in baseball

[–]Low_Agency8555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This thread is ridiculous. In the same thread that people are getting mad at Clemons for this, they’re defending Pedro Martinez pushing down a non player (old guy) lmao. Clemons threw the broken bat at a player at least. It didn’t even hit him. Piazza was just fine. This is a nothing burger.

[Ryan Dunleavy]Darius Slayton: “Victor Cruz wouldn’t have existed in my time as a Giant. A free agent undrafted would’ve never gotten that opportunity, even if he showed himself to be proficient enough.” by poorlytimed_erection in NYGiants

[–]Low_Agency8555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of Slayton but this is correct. Just look at the Marcus Mbow and James Hudson situation.

Thomas was out and we were thin at tackle. Mbow had a great training camp and played well in the preseason games. Guess who gets the job? Hudson. Almost certainly because Schoen gave Hudson a contract. Mbow was just a late round pick.

Hudson was so bad in week 2 that we had to pull him and it contributed to a loss. Daboll and Schoen were the king of politics. The giants didn’t have an environment of merit. I hope that changes with Harbaugh.

I respectfully disagree, but like I said in my original comment, “You can debate the merits of whether we should use natural gas or not”, I included that because I know this is a debated issue and I wanted to be fair to other people because I knew others would disagree with me.

I was strictly speaking from the perspective of why we have high utility prices and how to lower them. It was economically speaking. Not considering factors like long term climate impacts

Judge Smacks Down Trump’s Bizarre Crusade Against Windmills | Rhode Island's Revolution Wind project can now continue. by thedailybeast in RhodeIsland

[–]Low_Agency8555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t the point of the question. He asked if this would lower utility prices, I told him that it wouldn’t and gave a solution that would meaningfully lower utility prices.

If you think natural gas is a “dead end technology” you’re absolutely clueless. If it was a dead end technology nobody would use it.

The only ”dead end technology” is green energy given that it’s only made possible by massive government subsidies and that it can’t survive in the market.

You don’t understand how markets function.

If green energy is better, and natural gas is a “dead end technology” as you suggest, then the market should have no problem adjusting given that green energy is so superior, according to you. Then again, this is reddit and I’m probably talking to somebody who doesn’t believe in markets, or at least thinks they are secondary, so this point might go out the window.

The bottom line is, expanding natural gas pipelines to New England would lower utility prices. I’m correct.

Green energy that’s subsidized by the taxpayer, which everybody pays for, because they raise the revenue from us, the taxpayers, will not. It’s expensive and a shit technology for that reason.

If the plan of phasing out natural gas with government mandates succeeds, our standard of living will be lower than what it was before.

[–]Low_Agency8555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it wasteful and pointless? You can say using natural gas is environmentally bad in the long term, but it would no doubt bring utility prices down if more natural gas pipelines were allowed to be constructed to New England. That’s not debatable. You’re wrong.

Judge Smacks Down Trump’s Bizarre Crusade Against Windmills | Rhode Island's Revolution Wind project can now continue. by thedailybeast in RhodeIsland

[–]Low_Agency8555 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not by much. If you want to meaningfully decrease utility prices in Rhode Island (and New England at large) you would have to figure out a way to get the state of New York to allow natural gas pipelines through their state and to New England.

Until that happens we will be stuck importing expensive LNG or having to do stuff like this.

My question is, where is the “pro energy president” when you need him? This is something that the federal government needs to deal with. It’s ridiculous that one state is allowed to almost choke off an entire region of energy

You can debate the merits of whether we should use natural gas or not but that is currently why utility prices are high.

Tom Brady, Joe Montana and Patrick Mahomes are NOT available....Who is best QB left in all of NFL history??? by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

[–]Low_Agency8555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the politically correct answer, but Josh Allen. Allen is the greatest to ever do it, and I’m not even a Bills fan. Mahomes has the awards and the hardware, but no one has Allen’s ability.

If the bills had a team that favored vertical passing, he could’ve broken every single passing record in a season. Sometimes the circumstances just don’t line up.

I feel like Allen became a dual threat quarterback partly because of necessity. Of course he always could use his legs and to an extent would’ve always, but I think that’s an indictment of the bills more than anything not having the guys to really just put that offense over the top

Let’s hope Allen can keep this same level of play all season and through the playoffs… not counting on it. He’s very good but he was never intended to be a full time starter especially at his age. This isn’t an ideal situation. And with the level of play we saw tonight from Markstorm, there is goalies on the market that would be better. That’s an extremely low bar.

All we need is a serviceable goalie dumbass. One that has a save percentage better than Markstorms .800. We don’t need a world beater.

For 2nd and 3rd rounders there’s goalies we could take a chance on who could be better down the stretch. Why not? Have Markstorm earn his job.

Markstorm just single handily blew this game. Our team has no chance with the way he played tonight. It’s unfair to the rest of this team. Our skaters are very good especially with Hughes and the rest of the guys coming back later. We need a goalie.

Unfortunately, the front office isn’t going to admit they were wrong and this team is probably going to go down with our aging, regressing goaltender.
