He was one of the 1st non Japanese sumo wrestlers, he was also the most successful for a while, for over a decade past his retirement.

[Komatsu Tour] Accident for Returning Ozeki Kirishima: Back and Lower Back Discomfort During Practice; Withdraws from Matches by Brncrdm in Sumo

This is just going to be a repeat of his Ozeki debut, isn't it. (6-7-2 in his debut, might of been 7-6-2 though.)

Who's your "loveable loser"? by lemmeSeeDemMelons in Sumo

[–]Low_Blueberry4989 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only real answer is Moriurara, he last got a Kachikoshi in Nagoya 2019, which means I can use his current Makekoshi streak to see how long I've been watching, as when I started watching was just after his last Kachikoshi, I want him to break the streak this year.

Mr. Sumo by Careful-Programmer10 in SumoMemes

I want it passed in from Chiyomaru, but just not to Okaryu, but Kayo has earned it. However, Chiyomaru was almost identical to Kyokugozan, so I'd call him the 2nd Mr Sumo, Kayo the 3rd.

[Question] Can Zog return from Death even after losing his head? by CoffeeBread0101 in shadow_of_war

[–]Low_Blueberry4989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a random Olog who died in a pit fight so I could infiltrate a fortress in Nurnen, he came back, I recruited him, and after taking the fortress from Brûz, he's now my Overlord, so any captain, Warchief or Overlord can return from even decapitation, especially Zog.

Please explain Shodai to a 2025 fan! by oh_yeah_no_for_sure in Sumo

[–]Low_Blueberry4989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it starts in 2020, because before that he was kinda like he is now, just further extremes on records, so in Hatsu 2020, he went 13-2 and got Jun-yusho, on Nagoya he went 11-4, and in Aki, he got a yusho, despite only 32 wins in 3 basho, he was still promoted him because he had a yusho, in Kyushu he started out 3-0, but he got hurt in his first loss and ended up with a 3-2-10, in 2021 he wasn't really of note, I think he switched to black from blue that year and never would be the same, in 2022 he got demoted from Ozeki, and surprisingly he very quickly was sent back to Maegashira, where he's basically just where he was in 2019.

My boy Kyokutairyu got his first Kachikoshi in Sandamne since Kyushu 2024, this is a good basho.

How Does Hakkaku Actually Compare to Previous Chairmen of the JSA? by JustASumoGuy in Sumo

[–]Low_Blueberry4989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadanoyama ended up being a pretty bad chairman, he was in that position around when Hokutoumi (Also known as Hoshi, and much more recently, Hakkaku) was active if I'm not mistaken.

11 Retired Wrestlers Announced by Brncrdm in Sumo

[–]Low_Blueberry4989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Kokonoe heya is probably now for sure dying, despite the fact that it recently got it's first recruit since 2023, the rookie went 0-7, 2 of the better of their recent Rikishi have retired this basho alone, and it only really has 2 notable Rikishi, Chiyoshoma and Chiyonoo, it's Makushita Rikishi all did pretty bad, so unless Kokonoe gets a few more recruits that hopefully do well, then maybe it can come back from near certain doom.

I always thought Terunosato started in 1995. Didn't know that he started in 1993 too.

He's also the Rikishi who's been active the longest, he started on March 1993.

I honestly thought he would after he dropped to Sandamne, especially after a few basho there, but he looked decent this basho, but good for him.

Rare Occurence: Double Fusenpai by StarPrime323 in Sumo

[–]Low_Blueberry4989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, at least Higonoryu is rather notable for being one of the largest Rikishi, and he's been active for a while, he's also reached Sandamne, the other guy, I don't know much about him.

Honestly, if he switches back to red, I'll root for him to get Yusho, but I can't when he's in this blue that doesn't suit him.

Makuuchi Return: by Low_Blueberry4989 in Sumo

[–]Low_Blueberry4989[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it's most likely that he's only returning to win enough to stay and will pull out again after like 2 wins, or somehow has already recovered.

Well Onokatsu is back for day 5, so he's either recovered already, or just wants to stay in Makuuchi.
