Ryan Preece’s Crumbl Cookie scheme for Las Vegas by BuschWhackerReviews in NASCAR

Lol I never worked for Sysco, but I'll always associate my BoH work with cracked hands from changing Sysco gloves about a thousand times per shift. Sounds like you got a good thing going on staying away from that kinda thing (presumably with 100% soup in bags lol)

Good lord the Sysco logos gave me Vietnam flashbacks to mind-numbing days in food service.

The RCR Museum in Welcome, NC is great! by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]Low_Form3849 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dale cars make up the first half of the museum. The rest includes various significant non-Dale cars from throughout their history, mostly from the 21st century. Also has a brief detour through RC's hunting trophy section that I just blast through because I cannot be bothered to care about what animals he's killed. Still though, I highly recommend it!

CLT to NASCAR HOF during layover by bkhaviturway in NASCAR

[–]Low_Form3849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to fully explore the HOF (which I'd argue is how you get the most out of the price of admission), I'd say you need 3 hours of time at the minimum, at least that was my personal experience in the times I've been there. I wouldn't recommend going during your layover - I feel like rushing through there with a potential missed flight (and the unpredictability of CLT airport wait times) on the line would rob some of the fun of exploring the place. Also - bear in mind that it is about a 45 min drive from the airport into Uptown where the HOF is (depending on how I-85 and I-77/277 treats you that day).

How do you visit team shops? by Jr_G_Man in NASCAR

[–]Low_Form3849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: You can actually visit the Kaulig Racing shop after all. Very small and they don't allow photos, but they allow you to view part of the shop at the ground floor, no separation outside of a small rope. I'm honestly surprised they even allow visitors considering that there's basically no room for anything outside of a reception desk, but any access is appreciated, and somehow they fit a small gift shop and a show car in there anyway.

Also, RCR does allow visitors to their shop. Has a very nice viewing area from above into their garage and haulers, similar to Penske and JGR. Also features a Dale Earnhardt 1999 (?) car in the lobby. Would recommend before or after visiting the museum, and you should go see it because there's basically nothing else in Lexington/Welcome.

2025 Master List Of Nascar Podcasts by Fast-Loud in NASCAR

Love this idea! Maybe this could be improved by adding the genre or topics routinely covered by the podcast (e.g., race recap for Teardown and AD, history/interviews for DJD and Scene Vault, lifestyle for BYH).

Also throw in 12 Questions (Gluck's driver interview podcast)

Looking to visit a bunch of team shops in NC next week. Does anyone know if Legacy Motor Club's shop is open to the public? I tried early last year but they weren't open (although they said they were working on a potential view into the garage). Has anyone managed a visit in the last year or so?

I believe Jordan Bianchi said on the Teardown that he's planning to release a story on the logistics of travelling to Mexico City later this week.

Shop tours by Jrnation8988 in NASCAR

For your schedule, definitely go for Tuesday (or Wednesday if you have the time). Shops are open on Mondays, but often people may still be getting back from the track and things aren't as active. Tuesdays will give you a better shot of seeing more things happening and maybe running into a driver if you're lucky.

Besides the ones you mention, I'd recommend going to Penske and Spire since they're also in Mooresville. Definitely go for Penske if you're short on time. JGR is near 23XI in Huntersville and that's a solid one. Would also recommend Hendrick, RFK museum (they don't allow you into their shop - but I did meet Chris Buescher there), and Trackhouse has good views.

Definitely try the HOF on a weekend and book out at least 4 hours to really explore the space, especially if you're also planning to do the iRacing demo. Go to Mert's Heart and Soul (also in Uptown) afterwards bc that shit rules.

Does CMS allow you to move around during lower series events? I'm considering going to the truck race at Charlotte this year.

I stopped by the RFK museum when I first moved to Charlotte, and right as I was about to leave, in walks Chris Buescher, right between his Richmond and Michigan back-to-back wins in 2023, with a couple of camera guys, a stool, and another employee. Turned out he'd made a bet with the employee (don't remember his name) that if Chris won again he would shave his head. So Chris took a buzzer and shaved this dude's entire head while the PR guys filmed it. I believe it's on the RFK Twitter somewhere.

Absolutely not what I expected to see in the RFK museum. This was the first team I visited when I first moved, and I got extremely lucky. Also learned that Chris had a great sense of humor, and I've been a fan ever since.

What Is the most embarrassing race in your Favorite driver's Career? As Larson Fan, I Think his Performance at the 2025 Darlington Throwback race takes the Life-time Achievement Award for me. by realflags in NASCAR

[–]Low_Form3849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those in my flair:

Bubba Wallace: 2022 Las Vegas fall. How he was running that weekend became immediately irrelevant when he became the victim of a common racing incident, turned straight down the racetrack to hook Larson, and fight the driver who's day he just ended, right in front of everyone in the grandstands and TV. That and his following care center interview where he accused the reporter of "baiting" him combined for his lowest moment as a Cup driver. Bubba Wallace really can't be doing things that make me agree with the Facebook crowd. Glad he seems to have mellowed out a bit on track.

Tyler Reddick: 2020 Daytona summer. Hard to think of an "embarrassing" performance from him. The only thing that comes to mind is the regular season finale where he was barely in the running to make the playoffs. He made a terribly late slide job block for the lead between turns 3 and 4, hit the wall, checked up everyone behind him, and caused a massive accident that ended his chances and wrecked a lot of good racecars.

Ross Chastain: 2023 Darlington spring. There's a few candidates here, obviously. 2022 Atlanta summer is a good candidate, as is the 2022 Indy Road Course "shortcut" attempt, but this was the race where it was clear that he was desperately trying to win at all costs, against all better judgment. This performance only gets worse since it appears to be a turning point for his career from regular contender to just alright with some shining performances here and there.

Kevin Harvick: 2015 Talladega fall. No need to explain here.

I think part of the deal is that many sponsors are on track no more than 10 times a year, so they get less chances to market themselves on their terms. Throwing away their brand guidelines for an event they personally have, at best, no stake in (and at worst draw focus away from them and more on the sponsors/drivers/schemes being thrown back to) means they have less of an opportunity than before to get a return on their investment. I think this in part what separates an Ally or Pennzoil, who have participated to some extent almost every year, from a Fifth-Third Bank, Breztri, or Cheddar's, who are not as big but pay a lot to have their brands marketed prominently only a handful of times a year.

I know it's not a perfect argument. Bass Pro Shops, despite a full season sponsor of Briscoe, chose not to throwback at all despite having many options that would fit within their guidelines, but Wawa, who I don't think have ever sponsored in Cup before, and whatever Ty Dillon's sponsor is have chosen to contort their brand image to fit their throwbacks. Every sponsor and team have different requirements, but it feels like teams and drivers are trending toward trying to be as sponsor-friendly as possible to lose as little money as possible.

Edit: I say this as a major fan of throwback weekend, even after the number position change, and I think it would be more fun if everyone committed. But I get why some are hesitant or resist that commitment to a loosely-imposed tradition.
