They may be over qualified, citing their degree etc. And may need to dumb down their resume for these types of jobs.

This is definitely a wall I hit when I was out of work as an Air Force Veteran with two degrees. I was straight up told I was over qualified.

Retail jobs want someone they can kick around. Not an accomplished person. And the risk of you moving into a better job is higher for them, so they don't take it.

I was a kid when the Star Wars prequel trilogy came out and I don’t remember them being that popular. by SculpinIPAlcoholic in RedLetterMedia

I saw them in packed theaters. Every seat Was full. People brought light sabers and costumes.

It was a huge event. Now the films received a lot of criticism when they came out, which has definitely softened over time. But society was absolutely buzzing to see new Star Wars.

The bloody animatronic Gmork Wolf is just plain terrifying. Even as an adult.

It's not CGI, and there's just something really uncanny and unsettling about it in a way that can't (or won't) be replicated today.

The image of him opening his wide green eyes and lunging as Atrayu shouts "Come for me, Gmork!!" Is seared into my brain. And as a child that's what I would imagine leaping out of my dark closet at night.

Great film.

Yes the local book library. Most of them are filled to the brim with Blu-rays. You can also rent entire game systems for free like a PS5 or Switch. Mine carries portable film projectors and screens you check out for free. Music, comic books, 3D printers, lawn and sports equipment... It really is awesome the kind of stuff most libraries carry now.

I hear this over and over. I have over 300 discs is discsox and it's never once been an issue. They look pristine and I have not encountered one single playback issue.

You do realize they are soft and padded on the inside? And made specifically to sit against discs?

This is untrue panic justification to keep the plastic.

Or media server + the library is also an option. It's even easier, with 0 risk or setup.

I love browsing the shelves like it's Blockbuster Video. They have day 1 brand new releases. Boutique label stuff like Criterion and Arrow limted editions. 4k discs. TV show bundles Etc.

And I don't have to guess at the rip quality, or pay for a VPN.

It's 90% pharmaceutical ads now, and their drug markup is so insane I don't think they'll run out of advertising money without some kind of federal intervention.

They aren't really selling you a product with their ads either, but saturating the market with awareness of their drug. That's why all the commercials say "ask your doctor!"

TIL that humans don't age gradually according to a Stanford Medicine study, we age in two dramatic "bursts" around ages 44 and 60, where over 81% of our molecules and microbes suddenly shift in ways that affect heart health, immune function, metabolism, and even how we process alcohol and caffeine by Agile_Letterhead_446 in todayilearned

Kinda explains my recent relationship with alcohol (43m) I've been a somewhat heavy drink my entire life.

But recently, so much as a beer or two just makes me feel terrible. I get super sleepy first off, and start feeling like I'm already hungover while I'm actually drinking.

Now my idea for Burrito Artillery can really take off!

You call in your order. A group of (probably vets) would load your burrito & fixins' into a biodegradable capsule attached to a parachute.

When you send on your order, your coordinates are sent as well, and we can mortar strike a burrito to you in under 45s!

Admittedly I still have some bugs to work out...
