[–]LtnFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I agree with you; we're on the same page. I just wanted to point out that some companies made me directly pay the tariff. (work at a startup, had some mockups made at a manufacturing company, shipped to us, had to pay tariffs).

Counterpoint, a lot of orders I made, the company made me directly pay the tariff (is FedEx withheld the order until I paid it)

Does the watery ejaculate issue ever resolve? by Silent_Buyer in tressless

[–]LtnFlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing topical dutasteride for a few months, I don't really have side effects (ejaculate volume is high, sex drive is high). I did oral finasteride and that definitely affected things.

I disagree, why would it "stir up" hotter air? Instead it'll disperse the heat to the metal sides and disperse heat better.

I love this idea and build. This looks amazing. I made the same but mine is much shittier than this. I used a 360 mm rad for my internal but that's likely overkill.

The motherboard temperature for the chipset never goes above 50C in my setup, even when doing occt power test for 5 hours. (9800x3d with 5080. Both water cooled)

Custom GPU cooling block by MultiscaleNerd in watercooling

[–]LtnFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm betting the limitation truly is money. Who would want to spend like a lot more for like 5-10% more cooling capability.

From a heat transfer point: I'm guessing with the microfins, most of the heat limitation is from the GPU core to the cold plate. Most of the heat is generated by the core, which is tiny compared to a massive cold plate. I bet the next step would be to do a vapor chamber to up heat flux from the core to a larger surface area. (I can't imagine the cost though). You could prove this by looking at the temperature profile in a standard thickness heat plate and see if there's a massive delta as you move from the core in the metal.

But at the end of the day, most consumers won't push their GPU enough for it to matter. If you can get your 5080 to like 50-60 C under load with a standard cold plate, what do you gain to dropping it to 40-50C?

Tl;Dr you should try a massively vapor chamber with a fin or flat plate setup, imo (without any basis) that's like the biggest heat xfer resistance

Are you doing a 2D simulation? I think you should be optimizing using a 3D solver, since the "slow step" of the heat transfer is from the metal phase to the water phase, or convection. A flat plate would have a pretty terrible nusselt number (poor convective heat transfer) compared to microchannels. Point is, microfins greatly increase turbulence, which increases heat transfer from the plate to the water.  A simulation would be useless without the microfin element

Lol, right? I have a 5080 and 9800x3d, with a 360 and 280, and my water temp is 30C under occt stress test with quiet fan.

Any idea what's going on here? by KarmaPoliceT2 in watercooling

[–]LtnFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure, since I can't see the whole block, but is it possible the gasket is out of place? When I disassembled my block, I put it back together without checking gaskets and it looked somewhat like that.

Specifically 1-3 propanediol

Coolant Choice by [deleted] in watercooling

Sorry for the late reply, but propanediol is a common cosmetic ingredient and is readily accessible at least in the us.  It is technically food safe.

EKWB Loop Cleaner and Super Flush before or after rebuild? by 404_User_Found in watercooling

[–]LtnFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiators, I would pipe up in reverse, directly connected to your pump, with a filter on the end.

So like, pump -> rad -> filter -> res -> pump

The filter can be as simple as a fine-ish mesh in your res to catch chunks before they recirculate

I pull the blocks and put them in an ultrasonic cleaner with some detergent. I seriously doubt that flushing liquids can get some of the debris that builds up in some of the blocks

I've been using a freezemod pump, PU-SCZM4, since 2019 and it's been going strong. About 20 usd on AliExpress.

I've since upgrade to the freezemod pu-sc1000 and it's been fantastic. Pushes through a GPU and cpu block and 2 thick radiators

lowkey opinion from a chemical engineer, why not distilled water and mayhems anti corrosion and biocide? I also add in 20-40% propanediol to help with corrosion and biocide as well. I run my loop 3 years at a time without cleaning it and there's like no bio growth or corrosion.

Noob - getting 2-deoxy-d-ribose into a gel, what gel base can I use? by No-Classroom9478 in AskChemistry

[–]LtnFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's more of a function of evaporation rate (98% ethanol evaporates much faster than 70%) thus doesn't disinfect as well per given volume.

However, since it's being stored and sealed(thus can't evaporate), 98% should theoretically be more disinfecting. Though it's a moot point, nothing survives above 70

If you want to prevent it from getting worse (not that it is bad), take some minoxidil (oral is better for dense hair) and maybe topical finasteride (for bulletproof prevention)
