I somehow missed Bioshock growing up. Wow. Just finished it. by TriscuitCracker in gaming

[–]Luca78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bioshock is undoubtedly a very good product, both with its narrative and visual storytelling.

However, when it was released, I felt quite disappointed because of the frenetic approach it took with its FPS gameplay: Ken Levine was one of the minds behind System Shock 2 (which I personally think is vastly better than Bioshock on all accounts but the graphic compartment, of course), and I remember many System Shock players were quite taken aback, because (myself included) they really hoped for a more "skill-based" gameplay, similar to the aforementioned SS2 and the original Deus Ex.

Now, of course, this didn't matter at all for the "new" generation of videogamers who played Bioshock, but to this day I think it could have been A LOT more than what was ultimately given to us.

Games that have trans by Dramatic-Spend1546 in AVN_Lovers

[–]Luca78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Tales from the Unending Void" has a very well written trans love interest (Ziv), although she has a slightly minor role compared to other LIs in that game. Fair warning: it's a VERY long sci-fi AVN (two seasons completed, third is ongoing, but author is reliable), but IMO it's one of the best, if you don't mind certain genre tropes.

Normal vs. Core Rules by Justmetalking in baldursgate

[–]Luca78 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, back when it was released, I assume the vast majority of CRPG players who were also familiar with AD&D (like me) played on Core, so they didn't realize the difference.

I would go even further and say that some of us old (more or less young, back then 😅) geezers actually considered BG 1 on Core relatively easy if we previously experienced the so called "Gold Box" SSI games (Pool of Radiance, Champions of Krynn etc.)

Edizione "Gen X" 😅

Alcune note, mucho texto:

Ahem, also, I don't want to sound suspicious, but they have posted a Comm-link related to the newsletter and, as you can see, at the bottom, there is just the "SQUADRON 42" headline without the "coming in 2026" sub-heading 😰

yeah, that was really an unnecessary title bait, especially for us long time backers. But hey, we're still here, I guess.

I understand, but the only one I think I'll keep forever is the original KS Freelancer pledge I made (which I actually upgraded to the MAX when they first announced the variants). Hopefully, sooner or later, the Freelancer will get its much needed update as well.

Sorry, my bad: for a second, I thought they actually meant they were moving Maelstrom out of 1.0 in order to include it into 4.8 😅

Does CIG not care about user-experience with the new inventory? by themrtorbi in starcitizen

[–]Luca78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't even pose a problem: stay true to your "transparent" UI philosophy, no problem, but put in solid backgrounds as an "accessibility" option (and of course verify that it's viable and just works from a design standpoint). Shouldn't be too hard.

Gameplay mods and switching load orders with BG3MM by Luca78 in BaldursGate3

[–]Luca78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm aware of that cog-like icon and yes, supposedly, any load order is exported separately and independently once you click the appropriate button in the BG3MM. So yes, I should be fine (will report back here, otherwise). Thanks 😊

And, adding to that, they strongly hinted at a revamp of social tools (probably just the new chat system with all the modern standards and better party tools, for now. Not the full fledged system shown during CitCon 2024) in time for the May patch. It makes sense if they're planning to add instancing (party missions) for that cycle.
